Jordyn Tyson Expected to Miss Two Months With Hamstring Injury

New Orleans Saints rookie first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring), who has been a standout performer during training camp, is expected to be out roughly two months with a hamstring injury, according to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Tyson, who has been consulting with experts, could start his first NFL season on the short-term Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss at least the first four games. The 22-year-old eighth overall pick back in April from Arizona State was in line to open his NFL career as the WR2 in New Orleans across from Chris Olave, but that will now have to wait. Tyson also missed time in college with issues with the same hamstring, so fantasy managers in dynasty/keeper leagues who have him rostered have to be a little worried about his long-term durability already. He will still be worth rostering in redraft leagues in 2026, but he will now be more of a late-round stash target. Receiver Devaughn Vele and tight end Juwan Johnson might end up being the biggest beneficiaries early on, as well as rookie Barion Brown, who has been a standout this summer.

Jordyn Tyson's Hamstring Injury Could Linger Into Regular Season

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore said that rookie first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) is dealing with a right-hamstring issue and will miss time, according to ESPN's Katherine Terrell. Moore isn't giving a timetable for Tyson's return, but he did say "it could" potentially linger into Week 1 of the regular season. "We've just got to let these experts evaluate this, and then we'll put together a plan," Moore said. "Not going to jump to conclusions. I don't have a doctor in front of my name, so I'm not going to jump to put together a timeline on it." The former Arizona State wideout injured his hamstring during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday after landing awkwardly following a catch. He was slow to get up to test his leg before jogging off the field and not returning. Moore said the injury isn't a result of his previous hamstring issues in college in 2025. Tyson's hamstring injury and the fact he's missing valuable time learning the offense certainly won't make him more attractive as a WR3/flex target in fantasy football drafts. If he's forced to miss time early in the season, the biggest beneficiary in the Saints' WR room will likely be Devaughn Vele. UPDATE: Per the NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Tyson is seeking multiple opinions on his latest hamstring injury.

Jordyn Tyson's Hamstring Injury Confirmed, Timeline Unclear

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) has a confirmed hamstring injury after leaving Thursday's joint practice with Jacksonville. Head coach Kellen Moore told reporters Friday that the Saints are still gathering information and don't have a timeline yet, according to Nick Underhill. That's worth watching closely with Tyson's recent injury history. The No. 8 overall pick missed four games at Arizona State last season with separate hamstring injuries and had his workload managed by New Orleans during the offseason after another hamstring issue. Tyson was healthy enough to return for training camp and had been working with the first-team offense before Thursday's exit. He caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns during his final college season and is expected to have a significant role alongside Chris Olave in New Orleans. There was some optimism Thursday that the injury wasn't serious, but Moore's comments make the next update on Tyson's timetable the important one. UPDATE: Moore said that Tyson has a right-hamstring injury, per Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football.

Jordyn Tyson Suffers Minor Hamstring Injury on Thursday

New Orleans Saints rookie first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) suffered what is believed to be a minor hamstring injury in training camp practice on Thursday, according to Nick Underhill and Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. It's not a serious injury for Tyson, but it's also not ideal as he looks to gear up for his first NFL season. The 22-year-old also had his reps managed during the offseason program due to a hamstring issue that occurred before the NFL Draft in April. The Arizona State alum had an injury-plagued collegiate career as well, so this is definitely not ideal news with the regular season around a month away. If healthy, Tyson is expected to carve out a role as the Saints' WR2 in his first NFL campaign behind Chris Olave in an up-tempo offense under head coach Kellen Moore, giving Tyson plenty of fantasy value in Year 1. But given his injury history and the fact that he lost valuable developmental reps this offseason, fantasy managers in redraft leagues should consider him more of an upside WR3/flex target than a strong WR2 choice in upcoming drafts.

Jordyn Tyson Impressing Early in Camp

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Jordyn Tyson was the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and early returns suggest he's living up to the billing. In recapping the first three practices of training camp, Saints beat reporter Nick Underhill spoke of how impressive the young rookie has looked. "The way he moves and carries himself, I really like... He looks and moves like a high-level athlete... He's an incredibly gifted route-runner." Tyson stood out throughout his collegiate career by finding the soft spots in zone coverage, and with the newly extended Chris Olave consistently ranking among the league's most efficient receivers against man coverage, New Orleans has a tandem whose skill sets complement one another neatly, allowing the duo to quickly develop into one of the top pairings in the league. Tyson is RotoBaller's WR29 but could ultimately prove to be one of the best values in the middle rounds of 2026 drafts.

Jordyn Tyson Good to Go for Saints Training Camp

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is good to go for the start of training camp, general manager Mickey Loomis said, according to Tina Howell. The update is encouraging after New Orleans monitored Tyson's workload during the spring, although head coach Kellen Moore said his absence from the second day of rookie minicamp was for maintenance rather than a new injury. The Saints selected the 6-foot-2, 203-pound receiver eighth overall after he caught 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns in nine games at Arizona State in 2025. Tyson missed four contests with separate hamstring injuries after a 2024 season in which he produced 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. His college injury history also includes a multi-ligament knee injury in 2022 and a broken collarbone in 2024. Loomis' comment indicates Tyson is available to begin camp, but it does not establish that he will immediately handle an unrestricted workload. His participation level will be the next important indicator as he competes for a major role alongside Chris Olave.

Rookie Jordyn Tyson "Checks All the Boxes" for a Wide Receiver

Despite seeing minimal on-field work during the offseason program as he managed a prior hamstring injury suffered in college, New Orleans Saints rookie first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has impressed the team's coaching staff, per John DeShazier of the team's official website. The Saints took Tyson early in the draft in an attempt to give All-Pro wideout Chris Olave some help, and he can play both outside and in the slot. "He has attributes that you look for in a wideout," receivers coach Keith Williams said. "He has good size, good speed, he's sudden, he's a 'hands' catcher, he's athletic, he's got good run-after-the-catch. He checks a lot of the boxes that you look for in a wideout." Quarterback Tyler Shough said in mid-July that Tyson should be "firing on all cylinders" for training camp and the preseason after a hamstring injury cut short his final collegiate season at Arizona State in 2025. The 21-year-old will be intriguing in both redraft and dynasty/keeper drafts in his first NFL campaign for his size and after-the-catch abilities. There could be enough volume for both Olave and Tyson for Tyson to be a weekly WR3/flex option for fantasy managers, even in 12-team formats.

Jordyn Tyson to be Ready to Roll Soon?

New Orleans Saints rookie first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (undisclosed) was held out of organized team activities this spring due to an undisclosed issue, but head coach Kellen Moore suggested it wasn't related to a hamstring injury that ended Tyson's final collegiate season at Arizona State in 2025 prematurely. Tyson has been doing more the last couple of months, and second-year quarterback Tyler Shough hinted that the 21-year-old could be a full-go this summer, saying that the rookie pass-catcher "is going to be firing on all cylinders, so I can't wait to get going with him," according to Katherine Terrell of ESPN. Top wideout Chris Olave has also been held back this offseason due to blood-clot issues that surfaced at the end of last season. Both Tyson and Olave should be good for training camp and the start of the 2026 regular season, though, giving New Orleans a potentially dangerous 1-2 punch at WR. Tyson's after-the-catch skills in a pass-happy offense will give him immediate WR3 upside in his first year in the NFL in 2026 if he can stay healthy.

Jordyn Tyson Worth the Cost for Dynasty Rebuilders?

New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is not a buy-low candidate, but that should not scare rebuilding dynasty managers away. New Orleans used the eighth overall pick on him after a huge finish at Arizona State, where he posted 136 catches for 1,812 yards and 18 touchdowns over his final 21 games. He is only 21, and that combination of age, production, and draft capital gives him one of the stronger long-term profiles in the rookie class. Immediate volume could be another story. Chris Olave is coming off a 100-catch season, Juwan Johnson topped 880 receiving yards, and Tyson will have to work his way into the front of the target order. There is also some medical risk after a hamstring injury cost him three games in 2025 and kept him on a limited rehab plan during minicamp. The Saints expected him back for training camp, but that still needs to happen. Tyson is already WR16 in RotoBaller's dynasty rankings, so the discount is gone. Rebuilders are paying for the ceiling now, though top-eight draft capital and a clear route to a major role make the price defensible.

Jordyn Tyson Remaining in Rehab Process During Minicamp

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (hamstring) will continue his rehab process during mandatory minicamp. Tyson is mainly dealing with a hamstring issue, but it's not expected to impact his availability for training camp. Tyson will continue to work under a limited plan, so the Saints can monitor him and prevent him from aggravating the injury further. Once he's healthy, Tyson should slide in as the No. 2 wideout opposite Chris Olave. Tyson finished with 61 receptions, 711 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns during this past season with Arizona State. The Saints are hopeful that Tyson can provide a reliable No. 2 option for quarterback Tyler Shough this upcoming season.
