Kevin Austin Jr. Avoidable For Week 18

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. has seen increased playing time over the last few weeks. Austin has seen 70 percent of the offensive snaps or more during each of the last three games. Sadly, Austin hasn't been able to do much with the extra snaps. The 24-year-old has three receptions for 48 yards over the span. The expectation is Austin will continue seeing plenty of the field during Sunday's regular season finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, Austin hasn't done enough on the field lately to be considered a viable fantasy option.

Kevin Austin Jr. Catches One Pass In Loss To Raiders

New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. was minimally involved in the team's 25-10 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in Week 17. Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler continued to struggle and completed only 20 of his 36 pass attempts. He targeted Austin only twice in the game, with Austin coming down with one catch for a gain of 23 yards on the day. Fellow wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling aggravated his back injury and was forced to leave the contest, but it didn't lead to Austin being more involved. The 24-year-old has played at least 70 percent of the offensive snaps the last three weeks, but it has led to only three catches on nine targets for 48 yards and no touchdowns over that span. In New Orleans' depleted offense that is being run by Rattler, Austin cannot be trusted in fantasy in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kevin Austin Jr. Can Be Safely Avoided Vs. LV

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. will not be a viable fantasy option in his meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday. The third-year wideout was the Saints' leading snap-getter at the position in last week's 34-0 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Still, it resulted in just 17 yards and one reception on four targets. That's been the story for the 24-year-old -- decent playing time but little production to show for it. He'll line up across from one of the better units in the league against fantasy WRs this Sunday. Las Vegas has allowed the eleventh-fewest points per game to wideouts (31.8) and the tenth-least passing yards per game in the NFL. Fantasy managers can undoubtedly find a better option than Austin Jr. ahead of championship weekend. He'll rank as RotoBaller's PPR WR92 in Week 17.

More Targets, Little Production For Kevin Austin Jr.

New Orleans Saints receiver Kevin Austin Jr. earned another four targets Monday at Green Bay, but turned them into just one catch for 17 yards on which he fumbled, but saw the ball go out of bounds. The third-year player has drawn at least three targets in four straight games, but is playing more mostly due to injuries, including to top receiver Chris Olave (concussion). New Orleans, playing behind backup quarterback Spencer Rattler, looked hapless in the 34-0 defeat to the Packers and became the first team in the league to be shut out this year. Austin is off the fantasy radar prior to a Week 17 game against Las Vegas.

Kevin Austin Jr. May See More Action On MNF

With so many injuries to the New Orleans Saints wide receiver room, Kevin Austin Jr. might be the team's next primary pass-catcher. Chris Olave (concussion) has yet to clear the concussion protocol and Bub Means (ankle) is facing a potentially season-ending setback, both of whom have been listed as out. Joining them on the injury report this week is Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest/illness), who is questionable for Monday's game against the Green Bay Packers. This leaves Austin, along with Cedrick Wilson Jr., Dante Pettis, and Mason Tipton as the only healthy wide receivers on the Saints. Over the Saints' last four games, Austin has been second in snaps at the position only to Valdes-Scantling. Unfortunately, Austin's ascension up the depth chart coincides with a Spencer Rattler start due to Derek Carr's (hand) Week 14 injuries forcing him out for another game, which will limit Austin's already low ceiling. In five games on the Saints' active roster, Austin has eight catches for 98 yards on 15 targets.

Kevin Austin Jr. A Desperation Play Vs. NYG

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. is not a recommended fantasy option in this weekend's road tilt against the New York Giants. The Notre Dame alum was signed from the team's practice squad on Saturday after appearing in three straight games due to various injuries in their WR room. With fellow wideout Bub Means (ankle) listed as out -- he'll be thrust into action again. Austin Jr. is in his third NFL season but only recorded his first statistic in New Orleans' Week 10 win over the Atlanta Falcons. His snap totals have steadily risen over that time, but he'll be tough to trust for fantasy at this juncture. For now, fantasy managers will want to take a wait-and-see approach with the 24-year-old. He ranks as RotoBaller's PPR WR74 ahead of this week's slate.
