The New Orleans Saints are signing free-agent cornerback Isaac Yiadom to a three-year deal worth $9 million with $4.86 million guaranteed on Thursday, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The deal carries a maximum value of $10.5 million through incentives. It's a return to the Big Easy for Yiadom, who finished the 2022 season with the Saints and also played all of the 2023 season in New Orleans. The 29-year-old defensive back had a career-high-tying 46 tackles (38 solo), an interception, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 17 games (five starts) in 2024 in his lone season with the San Francisco 49ers. While the former third-rounder (99th overall) by the Denver Broncos in 2018 out of Boston College isn't an asset in IDP fantasy leagues, he'll give a struggling Saints defense more depth in their secondary moving forward.
Isaac Yiadom Has Inside Track To Become No. 3 Cornerback
San Francisco 49ers cornerback Isaac Yiadom has impressed enough this offseason that he seems to have the early inside track on being the first corner on the field when the team needs more than their top two. The 49ers signed Yiadom in March to bolster the competition for the No. 3 cornerback job behind starters Charvarius Ward and Deommodore Lenoir. General manager John Lynch said that Yiadom reminded him of himself a little in that it took some time to get his feet under him, but once he did, things began to click. "Kind of just a mindset," Lynch said. "Stop doubting yourself, and let's go. And he was able to find that last season and have that belief in it, and it really flourished." The 28-year-old former third-round pick of the Broncos in 2018 out of Boston College has 158 tackles (113 solo), half a sack, two interceptions and 26 pass breakups in his six years in the league.
The New York Giants acquired cornerback Isaac Yiadom from the Denver Broncos on Wednesday in exchange for a 2021 seventh-round pick. Yiadom was a third-round selection in 2018 and started nine games in his two seasons in Denver. He had an interception, seven passes defensed and 63 tackles in 29 total games for the Broncos. A product of Boston College, Yiadom started the first three games and last five contests in 2019, while in between he saw his defensive snaps drop. The 24-year-old will present depth in New York behind Montre Hartage and James Bradberry in the secondary.
