Brandon Tanev Rejoins Jets At Trade Deadline

Veteran winger Brandon Tanev will finish the season with the Winnipeg Jets after being acquired from the Seattle Kraken for a second-round draft pick. It's a special move for Tanev, who started his NHL career with the Jets in 2016. The gritty forward initially left Winnipeg in 2019 to join the Pittsburgh Penguins, and he landed in Seattle as a 2021 NHL Expansion Draft selection. This season with the Kraken, Tanev recorded 17 points (nine goals, eight assists), 85 shots, 91 blocks, and 122 hits in 60 games. Fantasy managers can expect to see similar production from him in Winnipeg as he is poised to remain a bottom-six player.

Seattle Kraken winger Brandon Tanev (roster management) will not be in the lineup on Thursday against the Nashville Predators. The 33-year-old is a trade piece for the Kraken and might be moved before Friday's trade deadline. Tanev should attract considerable interest as a hard-working grinder who can also contribute offensively. He has recorded nine goals and 17 points in 60 games this season. Seattle Kraken left-winger Brandon Tanev is enjoying his time in the Pacific Northwest. He scored his ninth goal of the young season on Tuesday in the Kraken's 3-1 road win in San Jose. Tanev did a little of everything with two shots, three hits, and two blocked shots. Of course there was the goal which was Seattle's second of the third period. Morgan Geekie set up Tanev with a nice backhand feed. All the winger had to do was fire it past James Reimer which he did. Tanev has 15 points in 28 games for Seattle while being a nice source of offense in a middle-six role.

Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Brandon Tanev scored his third goal of the season for the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night during the club's 2-1 overtime loss. Expected to serve as more of a physical role, the high-energy player has sparked the offense early on this season after scoring just seven goals last season. He scored a career-high 14 goals during the 2018-19 season but has never surpassed the 29-point mark in his six-year career. Tanev has been a fun story so far for the expansion club but he's seeing third-line minutes and isn't penciled in on either of the club's power-play units so his value will likely be limited moving forward although he's a must-have in leagues that reward hits.
