The 28-year-old backstop will be back to provide depth at the catcher position behind Sean Murphy and Travis d'Arnaud. In 65 games at Triple-A Gwinnett in 2023, Tromp slashed .210/.336/.384 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI. He's a career .246 hitter with 51 homers in 521 minor-league games over 10 seasons.

Tromp has similarly had a difficult time getting on-base (.219), with any kind of injury likely ending his season with so few games remaining.

A 29-year-old with just five major league games under his belt before this season, Heineman has been surprisingly effective so far, going 4-for-9 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base. Expect Tromp and Heineman to have something like a 50/50 time-share at the start, but if Tromp can get hot, he could be an intriguing player to watch in deep leagues.
