Brandon Lowe Off To Solid Start For Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe has hit safely in eight of his 10 games this season and sports a solid .293 batting average to go with three home runs, eight RBI, and a .366 wOBA. In each of the last three years, Lowe has hit under .250 with a wOBA under .340 despite back-to-back years with 20-plus home runs. The Rays are managing his workload, and he got Wednesday off against a left-handed starter with Curtis Mead stepping in. When he has been in the lineup, though, the 30-year-old Lowe has been productive enough to be a solid option in AL-only leagues and brings good power from a sometimes tricky 2B roster spot.

Matt Chapman  • 3B  •  Giants

Matt Chapman Struggling Through Slow Start

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman went 0-for-5 with a run scored on Wednesday and is hitting just .205 through his first 12 games of the season. He does have a pair of home runs, eight walks, and eight RBI, so he has still contributed to the Giants' 9-3 start to the season, but his batting average is lagging. His batted-ball data shows a decline in hard-hit rate to just 33.3% so far this season, which would be his lowest rate since arriving in the MLB in 2017 with the Athletics. He has gone 0-for-17 in his last four games, and he'll look to turn things around on Friday after Thursday's day off as the Giants start a 10-game road trip with matchups against the Yankees, Phillies, and Angels.

Xander Bogaerts  • 2B  •  Padres

Xander Bogaerts Collects Three Hits In Wednesday's Win

San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored for the Padres in Sacramento on Wednesday, and since the team only had two runs, he played a huge part in securing the 2-1 victory that also secured the series win. Bogaerts hit second in the order on Thursday but has typically been hitting fourth or sixth. He has played in all 13 of the Padres' games this season, logging every inning at shortstop and going 14-for-46 (.304) with three stolen bases, four doubles, and seven runs scored. His production is a little inflated due to a .378 BABIP, but he has done a good job contributing to the Padres' strong start to the season and is a serviceable option for NL leagues, even though he hasn't shown much power yet this year.

Jonah Heim Hits Third Home Run Of The Season

Texas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim crushed his third home run of the season in the fifth inning of the Rangers' 6-2 win at Wrigley Field on Wednesday afternoon. To keep his bat in the lineup, Heim got the start at designated hitter while Kyle Higashioka handled the catching duties. Heim went 2-for-4 with the two-run blase off Shota Imanaga. On the season, the 29-year-old switch-hitter now sports a .310 batting average, a .310 ISO, a .402 wOBA, and a 45.8% hard-hit rate. He also has tacked on a pair of stolen bases. He has been one of the best hitting catchers so far this season, and getting at-bats at DH will further boost his fantasy value going forward.

Geraldo Perdomo  • SS  •  Diamondbacks

Geraldo Perdomo Homers In Diamondbacks Victory

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo went yard in the eighth inning of the team's 9-0 win over the Orioles on Wednesday. The Diamondbacks jumped out to an early lead in the rubber game of their three-game home set with Baltimore and cruised to a comfortable series win. Perdomo's home run capped a 3-for-4 day for the No. 2 hitter, who now has two homers on the season and is batting .333 with four extra-base hits, two stolen bases, and a .384 wOBA. He has a 27.7% hard-hit rate, per Statcast, which would be the best mark of his career in a qualifying season if he can continue to find success. He's in a great lineup spot for Arizona and is definitely worth playing for fantasy while he continues to fill in at the top of the order while Ketel Marte (hamstring) is on the injured list.

Blake Treinen Secures Second Save Of The Season

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Blake Treinen worked a scoreless ninth inning despite giving up a hit and a walk to the Nationals on Wednesday in Washington. He stranded two runners in scoring position when James Wood grounded out to end the game and helped the Dodgers avoid suffering a road sweep at the hands of the Nationals. The Dodgers had to rely on their relievers early in this game after Luke Knack gave up five runs in just 2 1/3 innings, but the bullpen delivered 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. The Dodgers are using a few different options to close out games based on the situation, but Treinen remains part of the mix and has two saves in three opportunities, along with a pair of holds. He has allowed two runs in six innings this season with seven strikeouts.

Robert Suarez  • RP  •  Padres

Robert Suarez Still Stacking Saves For San Diego

San Diego Padres relief pitcher Robert Suarez secured his sixth save of the season on Wednesday afternoon in Sacramento. He became the first closer in the MLB to reach that level this season with a highly efficient seven-pitch inning against the Athletics in his team's 2-1 victory. He walked Tyler Soderstrom on five pitches to start the inning but got Shea Langeliers to bounce into a double play and JJ Bleday to fly out to center to end the game on his next two pitches. Suarez has converted every one of his six save opportunities while allowing just two walks and no hits over six shutout innings. He has seven strikeouts in those six innings as well and has emerged as one of the elite closers in the game over the first few weeks of the season.

Agustin Ramirez Hits First Long Ball Of Triple-A Regular Season

Miami Marlins catching prospect Agustin Ramirez went 2-for-4 with his first home run of the Triple-A regular season on Wednesday against Charlotte. This outing extended his current hitting streak to five games. Through the first 10 games of Triple-A Jacksonville's regular season, Ramirez has posted a .275/.318/.475 slash line with five doubles, one long ball, and a 3:13 BB:K. Ramirez has also swiped two bags and tallied seven RBI. The 23-year-old was in contention to break camp with the major league roster but fell just short in the competition. However, if the backstop can begin to hit for power, he may not need much more time in the minor leagues. Last summer, across 68 games at Triple-A, he posted a .245/.345/.411 line. If he continues to perform well, he could find a role in the majors as Nick Fortes and Liam Hicks have yet to show consistent production in the major leagues.

Tyler Callihan  • 2B  •  Reds

Tyler Callihan Stays Hot At Triple-A

Cincinnati Reds infield prospect Tyler Callihan went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run during Wednesday's contest. This was Callihan's third home run of the season and third double. In this game, he also tallied two RBI and scored a run. Through the first 10 games of the regular season, Callihan has enjoyed a strong start with the Louisville Bats, posting a stellar .317/.417/.610 slash line. He has posted four multi-hit games and hit at least one extra-base hit in four games. The 24-year-old spent most of the 2024 campaign with Double-A before receiving a brief taste of Triple-A. At Double-A, the former third-round pick held a .271/.345/.413 line. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production at Triple-A as he should be in the mix for a second-half MLB debut.

Logan Henderson  • SP  •  Brewers

Logan Henderson Strikes Out Eight In Second Straight Outing

Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Logan Henderson enjoyed another impressive outing on Wednesday evening. In this start, Henderson tossed five shutout innings and allowed just two walks with no hits. He struck out eight batters. This was his second-straight contest tossing five shutout frames and tallying eight punchouts. Henderson has begun to turn the corner following a rough season debut in which he allowed six hits and five earned runs across four innings of work. The 23-year-old is a name to monitor, given Milwaukee's numerous injuries to their starting rotation. If Henderson continues to perform well with Triple-A, he could get the call to the major leagues. The right-hander held a modest 4.56 ERA with Triple-A last season and appears to be taking a significant step forward in his development.

C.J. Kayfus Hits First Long Ball Of The Season

Cleveland Guardians first base prospect C.J. Kayfus went 4-for-5 with a double and a home run on Wednesday evening. This was his first round-tripper of the regular season. In this contest, he also tallied three RBI and scored three runs. Kayfus has enjoyed an impressive start to the Double-A season. Through the first five games, the former third-round pick from the 2023 MLB Draft has tallied at least one hit in each contest. He has posted four multi-hit games and tallied four total extra-base hits. He has also held a solid 3:4 BB:K. Last season, Kayfus split time between High-A and Double-A. With High-A Lake County, he enjoyed a strong start, posting a .338/.437/.578 line. However, he saw his production decline during his first taste of Double-A, holding a .263/.366/.470 line. He could push for a mid-season Triple-A debut if he continues to produce well with Akron.

J.J. Wetherholt Tallies Three Hits On Wednesday

St. Louis Cardinals infield prospect J.J. Wetherholt enjoyed a breakout game at Double-A on Wednesday evening. In this contest, Wetherholt went 3-for-5 with three RBI. He tallied one double. This was a much-needed breakout game for Wetherholt as he went 0-for-17 with a 1:4 BB:K through his first four games of the regular season. The Cardinals drafted Wetherholt with the seventh overall pick in last year's MLB Draft out of West Virginia. The 22-year-old received a brief look at Low-A following the draft. Across 29 games, he looked quite comfortable, posting a .295/.405/.400 slash line with a 16:15 BB:K. He swiped two bags and hit five doubles and two round-trippers. Fantasy managers should expect Wetherholt to spend most of the campaign with Double-A and push for a 2026 MLB debut.

CJ Abrams Homers In Loss On Wednesday

Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams went 1-for-5 with a solo homer and a stolen base in a 6-5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. The veteran infielder is off to a productive start in 2025, hitting .250 with four homers, six runs, seven RBI, and three steals spanning 40 at-bats. Abrams has emerged as a quality power/speed fantasy asset over the past two seasons and continues to be a high-end option at the shortstop position moving forward.

William Contreras  • C  •  Brewers

William Contreras Homers In Second Straight Game

Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras continued his recent strong hitting in a 17-2 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. Contreras went 1-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two runs, and two RBI in the high-scoring win over the Rockies. The veteran catcher has tormented Colorado over the past two games, hitting two homers and driving in four runs. Overall, Contreras is hitting just .154 with two homers, eight runs, and four RBI across 39 at-bats. After a slow start at the plate to begin the year, it appears that Contreras is starting to heat up. He should be in starting lineups in fantasy moving forward.

Pete Fairbanks Picks Up A Save On Wednesday

Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Pete Fairbanks got the final three outs to preserve a 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. Fairbanks threw a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one and walking one, to convert his second save in as many chances this season. The veteran reliever has been excellent to begin the year, posting a 1-1 record, 1.80 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in five innings of work. Fairbanks has a solid grip on the ninth-inning role for Tampa and should continue to see the bulk of the team's save chances.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty turned in an excellent start in a 4-3 loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday. His next start is scheduled against the Milwaukee Brewers on the road on Tuesday.

The veteran hurler unfortunately had to settle for a no-decision after handing a 4-0 lead to the Houston bullpen upon departing. Brown has been excellent for the Astros on the mound through three starts this season, posting a 1-1 record, 2.00 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts over 18 innings of work. He will look to keep it going in his next start, which is slated for Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The veteran hurler has now made three starts for the Pirates this season, posting a 1-1 record, 4.24 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts spanning 17 innings of work. Keller is not a must-start in fantasy, but he is worth a look as a potential streaming option in favorable matchups moving forward.

Pavin Smith Doubles, Homers In Win On Wednesday

Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Pavin Smith went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, two runs, and two RBI in his team's 9-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Smith ripped a 416-foot two-run homer off Orioles starter Dean Kremer in the fifth inning, giving his team a 4-0 lead in the contest. The veteran infielder is off to a fast start this season as he's batting .400 with one homer, eight runs, and four RBI in 30 at-bats. He will look to keep his hot streak going as the Diamondbacks have an off day on Thursday before they open a weekend series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
