Johnathan Rodriguez Named Top Cleveland Hitting Prospect Of 2024

MLB Pipeline named outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez Cleveland's top hitting prospect of the 2024 campaign. Rodriguez, the No.12 ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com, spent most of his season with Triple-A Columbus before getting a brief taste of the big leagues. Through 117 games at Triple-A, the 25-year-old carried a stellar .301/.390/.540 slash line with 18 doubles, 29 home runs, 94 RBI, and eight stolen bases. This was a steady improvement from the .280 AVG and 11 home runs he hit at Triple-A during the 2023 season. In the majors, the former third-round selection posted an underwhelming .129/.325/.161 line through a small 13-game stint. Fantasy managers in deeper five-outfielder leagues should pay attention to his development during Spring Training as he could contend for a spot on the Opening Day Roster.

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Johnathan Rodriguez is 12-for-36 (.333 AVG) with a double and nine RBI for Triple-A Columbus post-All-Star Break. Since his demotion to Triple-A on June 26, he's played rather well, slashing .278/.371/.456 with four doubles, four home runs, 19 RBI, and 13:25 BB/SO. Johnathan Rodriguez Posts Three Consecutive Multi-Hit Games Since Return To Triple-A

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Johnathan Rodriguez was sent back down to Triple-A on June 2 after logging his first 12 games in the major leagues (eight starts). However, since his return to Triple-A Columbus, he has been performing very well and should rejoin the major league roster fairly soon. Since Jun 4, Rodriguez has tallied at least two hits in three straight games, including a stellar three-home run game on Thursday evening. Overall through 46 games at Triple-A this summer, the 24-year-old has posted a .301/.399/.526 line ten long balls, 39 RBI, and four swiped bags. He has now logged a cumulative 93 games at the Triple-A level over the past two seasons and could become an everyday major leaguer by the end of the summer.

Johnathan Rodriguez Making MLB Debut Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians rookie outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez is making his major-league debut on Tuesday against the visiting New York Mets and right-hander Adrian Houser, starting in right field and batting seventh. Rodriguez enters the starting lineup in Cleveland for the first time after being called up from Triple-A Columbus on Monday. The 24-year-old could see a decent amount of at-bats for the Guardians until Steven Kwan (hamstring) is able to return from the injured list, making him worth a look off the waiver wire in AL-only leagues. MLB Pipeline has Rodriguez ranked as the team's No. 16 prospect. The Puerto Rican outfielder earned his call-up by hitting .276/.389/.449 with an .838 OPS, seven homers, 28 RBI and four steals in 43 games for Columbus.

Guardians Call Up Johnathan Rodriguez

The Cleveland Guardians called up outfield prospect Johnathan Rodriguez from Triple-A Columbus on Monday and designated outfielder Ramon Laureano for assignment in a corresponding move. It is Rodriguez's first major-league call-up and he was available off the bench for Monday's contest against the visiting New York Mets. The 24-year-old is listed as Cleveland's No. 16 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and gets the call to the majors after slashing .276/.389/.449 with an .838 OPS, seven home runs, six doubles, 28 RBI, four stolen bases and 30 runs scored in 185 plate appearances over 43 games for Columbus. The Puerto Rican was taken in the third round in 2017 out of the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy, and he could see some at-bats for the Guardians until Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns from the injured list.
