Logan Allen Optioned to Triple-A Columbus

Cleveland Guardians left-hander Logan Allen was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, per Zack Meisel of The Athletic. Allen lost out on a job battle for the final spot in the Cleveland rotation to Guardians prospect Parker Messick. The 27-year-old Allen threw 156 2/3 innings (29 starts) for the Guardians in 2025, posting an 8-11 record with a 4.25 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 122 strikeouts. Allen has made 73 starts over the past three seasons for Cleveland, so he represents trusted pitching depth who will likely be the first option to rejoin the rotation if one of the Guardians current starters goes down with an injury. However, Allen owns an uninspiring 19.5% strikeout rate and an inflated 1.44 WHIP across 379 1/3 career big-league innings. Even if he eventually makes it back to Cleveland this season, his fantasy appeal is limited.

Logan Allen Joins Dodgers on Minor-League Deal

Free-agent left-hander Logan Allen is joining the Los Angeles Dodgers on a minor-league deal on Wednesday, an industry source told Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Fresh off pitching for Canada in the World Baseball Classic, Allen will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City to begin the 2026 season. The 28-year-old southpaw previously agreed to a deal to pitch for the Tijuana Toros of the Mexican League, but now he'll head to the minors with the Dodgers after pitching well in the WBC. Allen spent the 2025 campaign in the Korean Baseball Organization with the NC Dinos, where he went 7-12 with a 4.53 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 149:67 K:BB in 173 innings pitched over 32 outings (31 starts). In his five years in the majors, the former eighth-round pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2015 posted a 5.79 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 15.7% strikeout rate, and 9.2% walk rate in 45 appearances (15 starts) with four different teams. It's going to be tough for him to reach the big leagues with the Dodgers.

Logan Allen Tames the Tigers but Takes the Loss

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Logan Allen was excellent on Saturday night against the Tigers, holding them to just one run on two hits and two walks through six innings. He had five strikeouts, and his only run allowed came on a home run by Spencer Torkelson. Unfortunately, the Guardians didn't get Allen any run support, so he took a tough-luck loss to Casey Mize. Allen dropped to 5-7 on the season with a 4.07 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 65 strikeouts in 84 innings. He has allowed three runs or fewer in five straight starts, pitching into the sixth in each outing. The lefty will hope for more run support in his next start, which is scheduled for Thursday in Chicago against the White Sox.

Logan Allen Tosses Six Shutout Innings On Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians left-hander Logan Allen turned in a gem in his team's 2-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. Allen tossed six innings of shutout ball, allowing three hits while walking one and striking out six. The veteran southpaw improved his record to 2-2 with the start, which goes down as his best of the season. After an excellent rookie season in 2023, Allen struggled last season, but he is showing signs of a bounce-back campaign this year, posting a 3.70 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts over 41 1/3 innings of work. While he isn't a must-start in fantasy, he is worth a look in plus matchups going forward. Allen will take on the Minnesota Twins on the road in his next start, which is scheduled for Monday.

Logan Allen Penciled In As Guardians Fifth Starter

Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports that pitcher Logan Allen will be the Cleveland Guardians' fifth starter in the rotation. Triston McKenzie will begin the year in the bullpen. The 26-year-old wasn't particularly effective during the 2024 season, bolstering a 5.73 ERA in 97.1 innings (20 starts). However, he's had a strong spring, authoring a 1.89 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 19 innings with a 19:4 K:BB ratio. Allen is an afterthought in drafts right now, which is fair based on his production a season ago. Still, his changeup and sweeper generated whiffs at 27.1% and 33.1%, respectively, with Cleveland last year. If he can get his fastball to play up, he could provide some value for fantasy managers while he's got a spot in the rotation.

Guardians Option Logan Allen

Pitcher Logan Allen was optioned by the Cleveland Guardians Tuesday in a series of moves that also saw the team bring up pitcher Anthony Gose while designating pitcher Xzavion Curry for assignment. Allen was 8-4 but had an ERA of 5.56 and a WHIP of 1.56 over 92 1/3 innings over 19 appearances. Gose, a former outfield prospect of the Toronto Blue Jays, has not appeared in the majors since 2022. He was 5-4 with a 3.29 ERA and 1.304 WHIP in 35 appearances in Triple-A Columbus, recording 10 saves. Curry was 0-2 with a 5.84 ERA and 1.378 WHIP in seven games (four starts) with the Guardians. Neither of the moves offers much fantasy impact.

Logan Allen Called Up To Start Against Diamondbacks

The Cleveland Guardians recalled left-hander Logan Allen from Triple-A Columbus on Monday and optioned right-hander Connor Gillispie to Columbus in a corresponding move. It will be Allen's first start in the big leagues since July 6 with the Guardians still needing some starting rotation help with Tanner Bibee dealing with a shoulder injury. The 25-year-old Allen went 8-4 with a 5.67 ERA (5.45 FIP) and 1.55 WHIP with 76 strikeouts and 35 walks in 87 1/3 innings over 18 starts earlier this year before he was sent to the minors. In three starts for Columbus, Allen was better with a 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 12:7 K:BB in 16 1/3 innings pitched. The D-backs are sitting notable left-handed hitters Corbin Carroll and Joc Pederson on Monday, but fantasy managers should still consider Allen to be a pretty shaky streaming option in deeper leagues in his return to Cleveland's rotation.

Logan Allen Optioned To Triple-A, Spencer Howard Promoted

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Logan Allen has been optioned to Triple-A Columbus, according to Mandy Bell of MLB.com. Since May 24, Allen has struggled with a poor 6.75 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, and 19:33 BB:K ratio across his previous 36 frames. In a corresponding move, the Guardians promoted 27-;27-year-old right-hander Spencer Howard to the major league roster. Howard was traded to the Guardians for cash considerations from the Giants on July 5. Howard posted a 5.63 ERA, and 1.83 WHIP in 24 innings in the majors this season and could make occasional starts throughout the second half of the summer but should be left on the waiver wire in all formats.

Logan Allen Roughed Up In Loss

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Logan Allen lasted just an 1 2/3 innings in Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Rockies. The lefty allowed seven earned runs on six hits and two walks in the abbreviated outing while striking out just one batter. The former second-round pick has seven starts where he has allowed three earned runs or less, but has five starts in which he's allowed four runs or more. So despite the 6-3 record, the southpaw has a bloated 5.83 ERA (5.22 FIP), 1.55 WHIP, .301 opponent's average, and a league-leading 12 home runs allowed. Allen's next start lines up with the Royals at home next week, a team that has the fourth-best batting average against lefties this season, so it might be best to stay away for fantasy purposes.

Logan Allen Strikes Out Five In Loss To Houston On Thursday

Cleveland Guardians left-hander Logan Allen took the loss in an 8-2 defeat at the hands of the Houston Astros on Thursday. Allen allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings while striking out five and walking one as his record fell to 3-2 on the year. Most of the damage came via a two-run homer off the bat of Jon Singleton in the sixth inning. It has been a slow start to the season for the lefty as Allen now has a 5.11 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP across 37 innings of work. That being said, Thursday's start against the Astros provides a slight glimmer of hope for the southpaw who broke out as a rookie in 2023. He will look to keep it going in his next start, which is slated to come on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers at home.
