Mookie Betts is Absent on Thursday

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts is out of the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Betts. He finally appears to be turning a corner with the bat after going 6-for-11 with two home runs and three RBI during their last series versus the Kansas City Royals. Miguel Rojas will cover shortstop and bat sixth versus left-hander Shane Drohan on Thursday. Fantasy managers should expect Betts back in the lineup on Friday, and hopefully, a day off won't cool him down at the plate.

Mookie Betts Breaks Homer Drought in Big Way Out of the Five-Hole

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts responded in a big way on Monday night in a loss on the road to the Philadelphia Phillies after he was dropped to the fifth spot in the batting order. In the 10-7 loss at Citizens Bank Park, Betts went 4-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, three RBI, and three runs scored to raise his season batting average to .237 and his OPS to .731. The 33-year-old had last homered on June 27 against the San Diego Padres. The two-homer performance was his second of the year and 33rd of his career, but he still sits with career lows in average (.237) and on-base percentage (.300) in 2026. The former MVP and eight-time All-Star has added 13 home runs, 34 RBI, 39 runs scored, and a stolen base for the Dodgers in 64 games across 277 plate appearances. So far in July, Betts has gone 10-for-48 (.208) with a .671 OPS, two homers, two doubles, six RBI, eight runs, six walks, and four strikeouts in 13 games played. He's striking out only 11.6% of the time, but his 7.9% walk rate is his lowest since his third year in the league in 2016 with Boston. However, with an expected batting average of .276, Betts could be a buy-low candidate in fantasy for the remainder of the second half.

Mookie Betts Returns to Thursday's Lineup After Wrist Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (wrist) is starting at shortstop and will bat cleanup for the Dodgers in Thursday's series opener at home against the division-rival San Diego Padres and right-hander Randy Vasquez. Betts was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup as a precaution due to soreness in his wrist in the series finale against the Athletics, but he's back in there a day later as the Dodgers look to extend their big lead in the National League West division. The 33-year-old former MVP and eight-time All-Star is hitless with an RBI in nine career at-bats against Vasquez, but fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups in traditional leagues. Betts' overall numbers aren't anything to write home about -- .244/.300/.444 slash line, 11 homers, 28 RBI, 31 runs -- but he's carrying a seven-game hitting streak into the series against SD. In his last seven games, he's gone 13-for-32 (.406) with three homers, two doubles, nine RBI, and five runs scored. He's hit .373 (25-for-67) with five homers and 11 RBI in his last 16 games, dating back to June 13.

Mookie Betts Dealing With Wrist Soreness

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (wrist) was scratched from Wednesday's starting lineup against the Athletics due to wrist soreness, according to Jack Harris of The California Post. The Dodgers are "erring on the side of caution" for now, manager Dave Roberts said. With Betts sitting out, veteran Miguel Rojas made the start at the 6 and was hitting eighth versus A's right-hander J.T. Ginn in the series finale in Sacramento. Betts' injury doesn't appear to be anything serious enough to threaten sending him to the injured list, but fantasy managers will want to check back on Thursday to see if he's active for the series opener on Thursday at Dodger Stadium against the division-rival San Diego Padres. Fantasy managers will also be hoping that the former MVP's wrist injury won't slow him down at the plate after he hit .290 (31-for-107) with five home runs, five doubles, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored, and a stolen base in 26 games (115 plate appearances) during June. The eight-time All-Star has played in only 51 games in 2026 in his 13th year in the league and has hit a mediocre .244/.30/.444 with a .744 OPS, 11 homers, 28 RBI, 31 runs, and one steal in 223 plate appearances.

Mookie Betts Set to Break Out of Slump After Two-Homer Game?

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts was struggling mightily at the plate before the team's outburst on Tuesday night in a 15-6 win over the visiting Colorado Rockies. Betts finally showed some life at the plate by going 3-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI, and a strikeout to boost his season average to .190 and his OPS to .679. Since returning from the injured list on May 11, Betts has gone 11-for-56 (.196) with four homers, a double, eight RBI, six runs, three walks, and seven strikeouts. In his last seven games, he had gone just 4-for-29 (.138), but the move to the cleanup spot on Tuesday seemed to spark the 33-year-old veteran to life offensively. Betts got the scoring started with a two-run blast in the first inning. Although the former MVP and eight-time All-Star is still hitting under the Mendoza Line for the season, he does have six home runs in just 84 at-bats, and it might be a good time to try and see if you can still buy low on him.

Mookie Betts is Officially Back on Monday

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the San Francisco Giants. As expected, Betts is back after a five-week absence due to a strained oblique. Before going down, Betts was struggling with only five hits during his first eight games of the season. He could need a few games to shake off the rust, but fantasy managers shouldn't be worried about him long-term. He'll cover shortstop and bat second against right-hander Trevor McDonald on Monday. Fantasy managers should double-check their lineups and make sure Betts is in there ahead of the first pitch.

Dodgers Expect Mookie Betts to Return on Monday

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Braves that he expects shortstop Mookie Betts (oblique) to be in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener versus the division-rival San Francisco Giants, according to Katie Woo of The Athletic. The Dodgers will activate Betts from the 10-day injured list to kick off Week 7 of the 2026 season after he was placed on the IL back on April 5 with a strained right oblique. In two minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, Betts went 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored, a walk, and two strikeouts. The 33-year-old former MVP and eight-time All-Star will return to starting duties at the 6 in L.A., pushing Hyeseong Kim back into a utility role for the Dodgers. Betts hit .179 (5-for-28) with two homers, seven RBI, and seven runs scored in eight games before his injury, but he needs to be returned to all starting lineups in traditional fantasy leagues now that he's on the cusp of activation. He's set to face Giants right-hander Trevor McDonald in his first game back on Monday.

Mookie Betts to Begin Rehab Assignment on Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (oblique) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday. Betts has been sidelined since early April due to a strained right oblique. He suffered a setback in late April, but appears to be ready for game action now. Betts will play both Friday and Saturday in Oklahoma City, which leaves the door open for him to return to the Dodgers on Sunday. Fantasy managers will have to wait and see how Betts is feeling after these two games. If not this weekend, Betts should be able to rejoin the Dodgers by early next week.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that shortstop Mookie Betts (oblique) will face live pitching on Thursday, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. If that goes well, Betts could start a minor-league rehab assignment "soon." Betts has been on the 10-day injured list since April 5 with a right-oblique strain, but he could be ready to rejoin the big-league lineup before the end of next week. The 33-year-old former MVP, eight-time All-Star, and seven-time Silver Slugger winner hasn't been as productive in his last two seasons in L.A. while dealing with some injuries, and his 2026 campaign has gotten off on the wrong foot. Still, Betts is a must-roster and must-start player in fantasy baseball when he's active, and he will take over starting duties at shortstop when he's activated from the IL, pushing Hyeseong Kim back into an infield utility role. Betts went 5-for-28 (.179) with two homers, seven RBI, and seven runs scored in his eight games before straining his oblique muscle.

Mookie Betts Working to Increase his Swing Speed

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (oblique), who is currently on the 10-day injured list with a right-oblique strain, is working on increasing his swing speed, according to MLB.com. Betts is inching closer to starting a minor-league rehab assignment. He landed on the IL back on April 5, so fantasy managers are itching to get him back into their starting lineups. Betts suffered a setback late last month that has delayed him a bit in his rehab, but it appears that he's moving in the right direction again. If he's cleared to start a rehab assignment soon, Betts could be back in the big leagues at some point next week. The Dodgers have been using second-year infielder Hyeseong Kim primarily at shortstop of late with Betts sidelined. Betts, a former MVP, eight-time All-Star, and seven-time Silver Slugger winner, needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues, but after an injury-plagued and disappointing 2025 campaign, fantasy managers may be beginning to wonder if the star athlete is beginning to break down at 33 years old. He had gone 5-for-28 (.179) with two homers, seven RBI, and seven runs in just eight games to begin the 2026 season before injuring his oblique.
