Mookie Betts Hitting Cleanup in Game 6 of World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers struggling shortstop Mookie Betts is being moved from the two-hole in the batting order to cleanup for a must-win Game 6 of the World Series on Friday night in Toronto against the Blue Jays and right-hander Kevin Gausman. Catcher Will Smith will occupy the No. 2 spot behind Shohei Ohtani. Although Betts managed 20 homers during the regular season, he hit just .258 (152-for-589), a stark dropoff after he batted .289 in 2024. The 33-year-old eight-time All-Star and former MVP has hit only .234 (15-for-64) in 15 postseason games this year and is still searching for his first home run. In five World Series games against Toronto, he's gone just 3-for-23 with no extra-base hits, a run, three walks, and five K's. The Dodgers will be hoping the lineup shakeup will get Betts going. In 54 career at-bats against Gausman, Betts has hit a strong .296 with three homers, a double, and eight RBI.

Mookie Betts Collects Four Hits to Help Dodgers Advance

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts went 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and a run scored to help carry his team to an 8-4 victory over the Reds on Wednesday night. The win completed a Wild Card series sweep for the Boys in Blue and moved them on to a great National League Division Series against the Phillies. Betts went 6-for-9 in the series, continuing his momentum from a strong finish to the regular season. Even though his overall numbers for the season were down, he finished the season by hitting .299 with six homers, 23 RBI, and a .376 wOBA in his 23 games in September. He looks locked in and ready to be a key part of the Dodgers' postseason run, heading into a tough matchup with the Phillies starting on Saturday.

Mookie Betts Resting on Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. This is a routine rest day for Betts after the Dodgers clinched the National League West division title on Thursday. This is the first rest day for Betts in over a month, so it seems well deserved. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Dodgers rest their starters throughout a majority of this series. Hyeseong Kim will take over shortstop and bat fifth on Friday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Mookie Betts Hits Home Run No. 12 on Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts hit his first home run in over a month on Friday, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. The veteran's bat has come around recently, going 6-for-12 (.500) over the last three games after going 0-for-20 during the previous five. It hasn't been a Mookie Betts-like season in 2025, with his slash line sitting at .239/.309/.371 along with a .298 wOBA and 90 wRC+, but perhaps he can get on a roll from here on out. August is far and away his most productive month throughout his career in terms of wRC+, registering a 163 wRC+ during the month.

Mookie Betts Will Not Be Dropped in Order

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts will not be dropped in the batting order, reports Alden Gonzalez of ESPN. Manager Dave Roberts stated that there is no better alternative in his eyes, and he would rather keep the top of the lineup consistent rather than mix and match it every day. This is despite the 32-year-old's .664 OPS, which is nowhere close to the mark you'd expect from someone batting first and second every day. It has been a disappointing season overall for Betts, who got off to a rough start before the season even began with an illness that caused him to lose over 20 pounds. He said early in the season that he felt like this sapped his power, but he never was able to get things going even after recovering. There are still two months left in the season, and maybe the continued confidence is what he needs to finally become a star-caliber player again.

Mookie Betts Remains Out on Saturday

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (personal) is not in the team's lineup against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. It's the second straight off day for Betts, who's dealing with a personal matter. Miguel Rojas is starting at short in Betts' place and batting seventh against ace left-hander Garrett Crochet. It's unknown if Betts will return Sunday, so fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his status. The eight-time All-Star has hit an uncharacteristically pedestrian .238/.309/.370 with 11 homers, 45 RBI, 59 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 414 plate appearances this year.

Mookie Betts Not in Starting Lineup for Series Opener

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (personal) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's series opener on the road at Fenway Park in Boston against his former team, the Red Sox, and right-hander Brayan Bello. Veteran Miguel Rojas will take over at the 6 and hit ninth against Bello. The 32-year-old former MVP is tending to a personal matter right now, but he's expected to rejoin the team on Saturday. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Saturday to see if he's back in the Dodgers' lineup. The Dodgers are still one of the best teams in the big leagues and could easily win back-to-back World Series titles, but Betts hasn't been himself in 2025. He's slashing just .238/.309/.370 with a .679 OPS, 11 homers 45 RBI, 59 runs and six steals in 370 at-bats. Betts has been worse in July, going 12-for-65 (.185) with two homers and four RBI in 16 games. Hopefully, a little time away will help his cause.

Mookie Betts Questionable for Friday's Game

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (personal) could miss their next game on Friday against the Boston Red Sox for personal reasons, manager Dave Roberts announced. "There might be some things going on that he might not be around, that he's got to deal with personally," Roberts told reporters. "Everything is okay with him, but yeah, we'll see." Fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on Betts' status leading up to Friday and the rest of the Dodgers' weekend road series against his former team. Miguel Rojas has been the Dodgers' primary fill-in at shortstop this year when Betts hasn't played.

Mookie Betts Returning, Hitting Leadoff

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts will make his return to the lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Betts sat out on Saturday for rest purposes, but is back in the mix now. He's in the middle of a terrible slump at the plate where he has only 21 hits over his last 30 games. Betts will cover shortstop and bat leadoff for the first time this season on Sunday. The Dodgers are hopeful that shaking things up will help Betts break out of this slump. Fantasy managers should get Betts back in their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Mookie Betts Could Miss Sunday's Game

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts was not in the starting lineup during Saturday's contest. Manager Dave Roberts said he wanted to give Betts a mental break given his offensive struggles heading into the All-Star break. It has been ugly as Betts has only 21 hits over his last 30 games. Roberts mentioned that Betts will sit out Saturday and potentially Sunday as well. It sounds like the team is taking it day-by-day and seeing how Betts feels mentally. Fantasy managers should stick with Betts through his struggles as he's a stud when he's clicking. Miguel Rojas started on Saturday and figures to get another nod at shortstop if Betts remains out again.
