Ryan Jeffers Out on Saturday

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers (head) is out of the lineup on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. Mickey Gasper will fill in behind the plate and hit seventh versus right-hander Stephen Kolek. Jeffers will take a seat for the second straight game after leaving early in an 11-8 loss to the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. He was diagnosed with a head contusion after taking two foul tips off the mask, but the 29-year-old may not require a stint on the injured list. Jeffers has played in 114 games this season and hit .262/.353/.394 with nine homers, 44 RBI, and 47 runs scored in 442 plate appearances.

Ryan Jeffers Exits Thursday's Contest With a Head Injury

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers (head) left Thursday's contest after taking a foul ball off his head while catching. He will likely undergo testing for a concussion, with more news regarding his status coming on Friday. At this time, Jeffers is considered day-to-day, and fantasy managers will want to wait for news later in the day on his status for the upcoming three-game series they have starting Friday against the Kansas City Royals. With the Twins firmly out of contention to make the postseason in 2025, sitting at 62-78, it's unlikely the Twins will try to rush Jeffers back into the lineup. On the season, Jeffers is slashing a modest .262/.353/.394 with nine home runs, 44 RBI, and 47 runs scored. Mickey Gasper entered the game for Jeffers and will likely see more playing time should Jeffers miss any time.

Ryan Jeffers Placed on Paternity List

The Minnesota Twins announced that they have placed catcher/designated hitter Ryan Jeffers on the paternity list and recalled utility player Mickey Gasper from Triple-A St. Paul. Jeffers has slashed a solid .254/.346/.399 with seven homers, 34 RBI, and 31 runs scored in 315 plate appearances this season. The 28-year-old will now miss up to three days, leaving the starting job to backup Christian Vazquez. The light-hitting Vazquez has slumped to a .190/.254/.272 line with two homers and 12 RBI in 173 trips to the plate. He'll bat ninth Saturday against Washington Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker.

Ryan Jeffers Getting a Day Off on Tuesday

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will retreat to the bench for Tuesday's tilt on the road in Miami against the hosting Marlins. Christian Vazquez will do the catching for right-hander Joe Ryan and will bat ninth against Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera. After splitting the catching duties pretty much right down the middle the last several seasons, Jeffers has become the clear starter in Minnesota this year and enters Tuesday's game with a .236/.336/.382 slash line with six home runs, 29 RBI and 25 runs scored in 225 at-bats. He has struggled offensively of late, going 7-for-45 (.156) with two home runs, eight RBI and seven strikeouts in 13 games since June 11. Vazquez shouldn't be a DFS sleeper target at catcher. He's gone 22-for-129 (.171) on the year with just two homers and nine RBI. Vazquez is hitless in two career at-bats against Cabrera.

Ryan Jeffers Resting on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. This news isn't shocking after Jeffers was lifted from Tuesday's game after getting hit in the hand. The X-rays came back negative, so fantasy managers should consider Jeffers as day-to-day for now. The expectation is that Jeffers will sit out a few games until the swelling goes down. In the meantime, Christian Vazquez will cover behind the plate and bat ninth versus left-hander Nick Lodolo.

Ryan Jeffers Exits with Hand Contusion

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers (hand) left Tuesday's contest after taking a ball off his right hand in the bottom of the fourth inning. It's officially been ruled a right hand contusion, with X-rays coming back negative for a fracture, reports Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star Tribune. That's good news for the 28-year-old who has been a staple behind the dish for the Twins this season, playing in 12 of the team's 15 games in June. Christian Vazquez, who was demoted to purely backup duties, replaced him in this game following the injury. Hopefully Jeffers will be back in the lineup within the next few days, as he's slashing a solid .251/.348/.379 with four home runs this season.

Ryan Jeffers Getting a Breather Versus Astros

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will retreat to the bench on Saturday in Houston against the Astros at Daikin Park. Christian Vazquez is doing the catching for right-hander Joe Ryan and will hit ninth against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Jeffers has taken over primary catching duties for the Twins this year over Vazquez and is currently slashing .243/.341/.376 with four home runs, 21 RBI and 21 runs scored in 189 at-bats. He's gone hitless in his last three games and has struggled at the plate so far in June, going 6-for-32 (.188) with a homer, a double, three RBI, five runs scored, six walks and 10 strikeouts. The 34-year-old Vazquez offers almost nothing with his bat for fantasy managers, as he comes into Saturday's tilt hitting .204 (21-for-103) with two homers, nine RBI and 10 runs scored. He has never faced Brown in his career.

Ryan Jeffers Homers, Drives in Two on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers had a solid game in his team's 6-1 win over the Athletics on Wednesday. Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, two runs, and two RBI in the win. The veteran catcher kicked off the scoring with a solo homer in the first inning, a shot that traveled 414 feet with an exit velocity of 104 MPH. Jeffers is now hitting .253 with four homers, 19 runs, and 20 RBI across 170 at-bats this season. He has been scuffling of late, hitting just .185 over his past seven contests. That being said, Jeffers has shown good power for a catcher, hitting 21 homers in 2024, which keeps him in the conversation in deeper fantasy leagues.

Ryan Jeffers Getting a Breather Against Royals

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will retreat to the bench on Saturday as the series continues against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Target Field. With Jeffers resting, Christian Vazquez will do the catching for right-hander Zebby Matthews and will hit ninth against Royals right-hander Michael Wacha. Jeffers is Minnesota's primary catcher and is currently riding a modest six-game hitting streak in which he's gone 9-for-23 with a homer, two doubles, two RBI and four runs scored. Vazquez has certainly been the inferior offensive player in his time with the Twins, and the 34-year-old Puerto Rican backstop has gone just 15-for-73 (.205) with a homer, six RBI and five runs scored in 2025. Although he's hit .455 with a .910 OPS in 11 career at-bats against Wacha, we'd advice fantasy managers to look elsewhere in DFS for a catcher.

Ryan Jeffers Not In Saturday's Lineup

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will get the day off on Saturday when the Twins continue a series against the San Francisco Giants. Jeffers started on Friday but went 0-for-3 at the plate with a walk and two strikeouts. As a result, Christian Vazquez will get the nod behind the dish and bat in the nine-hole. Prior to Friday, Jeffers was enjoying an impressive surge at the plate. Over his last nine contests, Jeffers posted an impressive .321/.367/.607 slash line with two home runs, two doubles, and eight RBI. Fantasy managers should expect Jeffers to return to the starting nine on Sunday. This afternoon, Vazquez is best to fade in DFS facing San Francisco ace Logan Webb. Webb enters this contest holding a 2.61 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP.
