Slade Cecconi Takes No-Hitter Into Eighth Inning Monday

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Slade Cecconi had a fabulous start in Monday's 10-2 win over the Royals. Cecconi pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks with three strikeouts. The 26-year-old gave up a leadoff single in the eighth inning to end his no-hit bid, but he induced a groundball double-play and got the final out of the inning on another grounder. Cecconi has had an up-and-down season from a fantasy perspective, going 6-6 with a 4.45 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and a 7.34 K/9 rate in 20 starts and 115 1/3 IP. He should have another opportunity for a solid outing in his next matchup against the White Sox.

Slade Cecconi Picks Up Fourth Win on Wednesday

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi notched a quality start and earned the win in a 4-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday. Cecconi allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings while striking out nine and walking two to complete the Guardians' three-game sweep over Houston. The 26-year-old right-hander heads into the All-Star break with a 4-4 record, 3.44 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts over 55 innings of work. He has a 2.72 ERA over his past seven starts and has the looks of the next quality fantasy pitcher to be turned out by the Cleveland pitching factory.

Slade Cecconi Goes Seven Scoreless Vs. A's

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Slade Cecconi spun seven innings of shutout ball in Sunday's 3-0 road win against the Athletics. The 25-year-old allowed six hits, one walk, and struck out three to earn his second quality start in seven tries. Cecconi has been decent through 37 1/3 innings -- yielding two earned runs or fewer in all but one of his starts. It's worth mentioning that three of them were five innings or less. Still, it was nice to see him get through seven frames unscathed to record his first scoreless trip to the mound. He'll next toe the slab later this week against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.

Slade Cecconi Earns Win on Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi picked up the win in his team's 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. Cecconi allowed two runs on four hits over five innings of work while striking out six and walking three. He notched 14 swinging strikes on 82 pitches in the outing while improving his record to 2-3 on the season. Cecconi has been solid for the Guardians this season, having allowed more than three runs just once across his six starts. Overall, he has a 4.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts over 30 1/3 innings of work. On the map as a solid streaming option in most fantasy leagues, Cecconi will next face off against the Athletics on Sunday.

Slade Cecconi to Start on Saturday Against Angels

The Cleveland Guardians have right-hander Slade Cecconi (groin) listed as their probable start for Saturday's contest against the Los Angeles Angels. Cecconi was scratched from his scheduled outing on Wednesday in the series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now he'll get a much more favorable matchup this weekend in what will be just his third start of the season. The 25-year-old former first-rounder (33rd overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2020 out of Miami opened the season on the injured list with an oblique strain, but he's now a member of Cleveland's starting rotation and has been solid so far with a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 14 punchouts in 11 innings pitched. The Angels rank 17th in the league with a .693 OPS, making Cecconi a prime streaming candidate despite his recent groin injury that wasn't very serious.

Slade Cecconi Pushed Back Due to Groin Tightness

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Slade Cecconi (groin) will no longer start Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, reports Carly Mascitti of News 5 Cleveland. He's dealing with mild groin tightness, which became an issue after his previous start on Friday. It's not yet known whether he will be pushed back a couple of days or have this start skipped entirely. No matter when it is, Cecconi will look to continue a solid start to the season, as he's allowed only four runs over 11 innings while striking out 14 through his first two appearances.

Slade Cecconi Earns First Win in Solid Showing

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Slade Cecconi fired six innings of one-run ball in Friday's 3-1 win against the Detroit Tigers. He yielded five hits and two walks while striking out six batters to earn his first quality start -- improving to 1-1. The 25-year-old landed 56 of 84 pitches for strikes and compiled an excellent 36% CSW for the second straight start. Cecconi was outstanding, with a Spencer Torkelson solo home run accounting for the only damage against him. That marks back-to-back solid starts against strong lineups for him since his return from an oblique injury. He'll bring a cool 3.27 ERA and 1.09 WHIP into a third straight difficult outing against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers next week.

Slade Cecconi Drawing Another Start on Friday

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi will make another start in Friday's series opener against the division-rival Detroit Tigers in Motown. Cecconi will stick in the starting rotation in Cleveland for a second turn after an impressive debut with the team last Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds in which he gave up three earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking none and striking out eight in five innings pitched. The 25-year-old got a late start in 2025 due to a strained left oblique, but he could stick around as a starter for the Guardians until Ben Lively (elbow) comes off the 15-day injured list. Cecconi will have a tough matchup as he looks for a second strong outing, making him a risky fantasy streamer on Friday. The first-place Tigers currently have the sixth-best OPS (.744) in the big leagues entering action this weekend.

Slade Cecconi to Return From Injured List and Start on Saturday

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi (oblique) is set to be activated from the injured list in order to start on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds in what will be his Guardians debut, according to MLB.com's Tim Stebbins. This will also be Cecconi's first start of 2025 after he suffered a strained left oblique back in spring training. The 25-year-old former 33rd overall pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks will for the time being take Ben Lively's (forearm) spot in the starting rotation, but he'll be a shaky fantasy streamer this weekend against a very capable Reds lineup in a hitter-friendly ballpark in Cincy. Cecconi had a 4.85 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 10 strikeouts and two walks in 13 innings over his three rehab starts for Triple-A Columbus. His 18.7% strikeout rate in two MLB seasons leaves plenty to be desired. Cecconi had a 6.66 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 20 outings (13 starts) for Arizona in 2024.

Slade Cecconi Goes 5 2/3 Innings In Third Rehab Outing

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi (oblique) threw 68 pitches (48 strikes) in his third minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Sunday and gave up two runs on six hits while striking out three and walking none in 5 2/3 innings. The 25-year-old has given up seven runs on 12 hits while walking two and striking out 10 in 13 innings in his three rehab outings. Cecconi is recovering from a left-oblique strain that landed him on the 15-day injured list back on March 27 for the start of the 2025 season. He's expected to return this month, but he's not guaranteed to have a rotation spot waiting for him in Cleveland, which means he could return to Columbus to serve as big-league rotation depth. The former first-rounder has posted a bloated 6.06 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 84 K's and 21 walks in 104 innings in his first two big-league seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
