Azeez Ojulari Heading To Philadelphia

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that free-agent linebacker Azeez Ojulari is signing with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal worth $4 million. Fowler notes that Philadelphia "heavily recruited" the fifth-year pass-rusher. Ojulari recorded 28 tackles and six sacks for the New York Giants in 11 games last season and looks to give the Eagles a boost on their defensive front after seeing defensive linemen Josh Sweat and Milton Williams depart in free agency. The Georgia product has played just one full season in his four years as a pro. Still, he heads to a destination known to maximize their defensive front's talent. Ojulari projects to be a rotational piece for Philadelphia's pass-rush situations.

Azeez Ojulari Placed On Injured Reserve

The New York Giants placed linebacker Azeez Ojulari (toe) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. He is now slated to miss a minimum of four games. Ojulari has been a bright spot for a Giants team devoid of talent or direction in 2024. He has recorded six sacks and 28 total tackles in 11 games played this season. The Giants defense has been solid this season behind the play of Ojulari and other solid defenders such as defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II and linebacker Brian Burns. Unfortunately, the offense has lagged far behind the defense and it seems as though Giants coaches are losing the locker room on both sides of the ball. Before his injury, Ojulari was tied for second on the team in sacks with Burns. He is also third in tackles for loss with seven. The Giants do not have a lot of depth behind Ojulari so things only seem to be getting worse for this franchise in 2024.

Azeez Ojulari Questionable To Return In Week 12

New York Giants linebacker Azeez Ojulari (toe) is questionable to return to Sunday's meeting with the Buccaneers. As if things in New York can't get any worse, the team could be without the 24-year-old for the rest of Week 12 because of a toe injury. Ojulari ranks second on the team in sacks this season (six), so the G-Men are hoping he'll get back on the field. If he doesn't return, Patrick Johnson would be in line for more snaps.

Giants Shopping Azeez Ojulari

The New York Giants, who are sitting in last place in the NFC East heading into Week 9 action, are reportedly shopping young edge rusher Azeez Ojulari. The Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals and Cincinnati Bengals are three teams that are known to be monitoring Ojulari. The Giants are already paying linebacker Brian Burns and spent a top-five draft selection on Kayvon Thibodeaux. It makes sense that the G-Men and general manager Joe Schoen are trying to get something in return for Ojulari now since he's set to hit the free-agent market after the season. The 24-year-old is a big reason why the Giants lead the NFL in sacks. He had two more sacks in the Monday night loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and is now up to six on the year, which is third on the Giants. The fourth-year player needs just three more sacks in 2024 to set a new career-high.

Azeez Ojulari Designated To Return From IR

The New York Giants designated linebacker Azeez Ojulari (calf), defensive back Tony Jefferson (foot) and offensive guard Ben Bredeson (knee) to return from Injured Reserve on Monday, opening their 21-day window for the team to officially activate them from IR. Ojulari has been dealing with his injury since training camp, and he played in two games earlier this season before being shut down. All three players could be activated in time to play in Week 13 against the Washington Commanders if they prove their health in practice this week. Jefferson hasn't played since Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers. When Bredeson returns, he's likely to re-enter the starting lineup on the offensive line.

Azeez Ojulari Not Expected To Play In Season Opener

New York Giants linebacker Azeez Ojulari (calf) is not expected to play in Week 1 against the Titans. The 22-year-old is a game-time call. However, things aren't looking promising. Ojulari had a fantastic rookie year in 2021, finishing with 49 total tackles and eight sacks, so being without him will be a tough blow for a Giants defense looking to slow down Derrick Henry and company. Even worse, Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee) isn't forecasted to make his league debut after spraining his MCL during the preseason.
