The Chicago Bears announced on Monday that they re-signed restricted free-agent defensive tackle Chris Williams and exclusive-rights free-agent defensive tackle Jonathan Ford, defensive end Daniel Hardy, offensive guard Bill Murray and cornerback Ameer Speed. In his first full season in the NFL with the Bears in 2024, Williams totaled 23 tackles (17 solo), three sacks and seven QB hits in 17 games (one start). The 26-year-old interior lineman will return for a second season in Chicago to provide rotational depth for the Bears defense. Williams went undrafted out of Wagner before joining the Indianapolis Colts for his rookie year in 2021. The 6-foot-3, 302-pounder had just six tackles (three solo) in 13 games (zero starts) in his first two years with the Colts.
The Indianapolis Colts waived defensive tackle Chris Williams, defensive end Kameron Cline, tight ends Nikola Kalinic and Jalen Wydermyer and linebacker Forrest Rhyne on Thursday. Williams played in 13 games (zero starts) for the Colts the last two years and had just six combined tackles and a QB hit. The moves free up space for the Colts' incoming rookie class. Kalinic played in seven games (two starts) on special teams in his rookie year in 2022, but he played only 47 offensive snaps and wasn't targeted at all. Wydermyer didn't see the field at all last season.
