Taylen Green's Fantasy-Friendly Skill Set Makes him a Must-Stash Dynasty QB

When the Cleveland Browns selected Taylen Green in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, he became their third quarterback taken in the last two drafts. With Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders still on the roster, and veteran Deshaun Watson currently battling Sanders for the starting job, Green will presumably have the opportunity to develop behind the scenes. Still an incredibly raw prospect who went 2-9 as a starter in his final season at Arkansas, Green possesses traits rare for his (or any) position. At 6'6" and 227 pounds, he ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, and while the player and team have both insisted that his future is at quarterback, it isn't difficult to envision a specific package of plays designed to get him the ball in space. While it may take until 2027 or beyond to truly gain a sense of Green's fantasy viability, as RotoBaller's dynasty QB33, he is one of the most obvious stash candidates in the later rounds of rookie drafts, and in best ball formats, he adds potential value as a player who could feasibly be given a late-season opportunity that coincides with the fantasy playoffs.

Does Taylen Green's Speed Get Him on the Dynasty Radar?

Cleveland Browns quarterback Taylen Green finds himself in a very crowded position group, and he only has modest draft capital after being selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. However, his speed could help him carve out a role in Cleveland, despite the Browns already having Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel. All of those existing quarterbacks have major question marks, and while Green won't be able to start over any of the three, his speed could get him occasional playing time in an offense led by head coach Todd Monken. Monken most recently was the offensive coordinator in Baltimore, where he worked with a similarly fast quarterback in Lamar Jackson. If Green, who ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash, can prove that his speed holds value in Monken's system, he could earn a roster spot and compete for a backup role long-term. In turn, that would allow him to carve out some dynasty value as a potential handcuff behind whichever the Browns choose to roll with -- presumably Watson short-term and Sanders long-term. Green currently projects as a fourth-round pick in rookie drafts in single-quarterback dynasty leagues.

Browns Continue Drafting Quarterbacks with Taylen Green at No. 182

The Cleveland Browns opened the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by selecting Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green with the 182nd overall pick. A dynamic athlete who began his collegiate career at Boise State, Green's size and speed had some wondering if his best path to an NFL career might come by transitioning to another position, but Browns general manager Andrew Berry has already gone on record that he will play quarterback. Green joins one of the most crowded quarterback rooms in the league with Deshaun Watson now six seasons removed from his Pro Bowl form with the Texans, and 2025 picks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders both making starts in their rookie season. At 6'6" and 235 pounds, Green ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at the Combine after running for more than 1,800 yards and 16 touchdowns across his two seasons at Arkansas, making him an intriguing late-round pick in rookie drafts.

Taylen Green Turns Heads at NFL Combine

Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, who is considered a top-10 QB prospect in this year's draft class, ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash, had a 43 1/2-inch vertical jump, and an 11-foot, two-inch broad jump at the NFL scouting combine on Saturday, which are all records for QBs since at least 2003, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN. Green measured in at 6-foot-5 and 227 pounds. His sub-4.4-second 40 time for a QB is the first since at least 2003. Beyond Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, who is the heavy favorite to go to the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 1 overall, the QB position is in flux. Green spent two years at Boise State and two years at Arkansas. He threw for 2,714 yards with 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last year, adding 777 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. His dual-threat abilities and excellent combine results certainly will increase his draft stock as he heads to the next level.
