Dawand Jones Takes Part in OTAs

Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Dawand Jones (knee) took part in organized team activities this week and didn't appear to be limited, according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson. Jones also looked noticeably trimmer than he was over his first two years. Jones presence on the field was a mild surprise after he said he was pointing to the start of training camp to return from arthroscopic knee surgery. The 23-year-old's last two seasons have ended prematurely due to injuries, but it's clear that the Browns want him to be their left tackle despite playing more on the right side than the left. If Jones can stay healthy and control his weight, there's room for improvement. The former fourth-rounder (111th overall) in 2023 out of Ohio State has played in just 21 total games (17 starts) in his first two seasons in the NFL with Cleveland due to injuries.

Dawand Jones Undergoes Knee Surgery

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Dawand Jones (knee, leg) recently had arthroscopic surgery to address a lingering knee injury that he played through in 2024, according to a league source. In addition to battling through a knee issue, Jones missed the last seven games with a fractured fibula. The 23-year-old will ditch his crutches and begin running soon and is expected to be ready for training camp in late July. The 2023 fourth-rounder made three straight starts at left tackle last year before suffering his fibula fracture. Injuries have been hard to avoid for Jones early in his NFL career, as he also missed the final games of his rookie season due to a torn MCL. The good news is that barring an injury in training camp or the preseason, Jones should be ready for Week 1 this fall.

Dawand Jones Out For The Year With Fractured Ankle

Cleveland Browns left tackle Dawand Jones (ankle) will miss the rest of the 2024 season after fracturing his left ankle in the Week 11 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, according to a source. Jones is expected to make a full recovery for next year, where he'll be looking to build on what has been a strong 2024 campaign. The 23-year-old had his left leg put in an air cast on Sunday before he was carted off the field in New Orleans. The fourth-rounder last year will need surgery. Jedrick Wills (knee) was inactive for the Week 11 contest, but with Jones now out for the season, Wills is expected to reclaim his starting job at left tackle if he's able to play in Week 12 against the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. If Wills is not ready, expect Germain Ifedi to protect quarterback Jameis Winston's blind side. It's more bad news for a bad Browns offense.

Dawand Jones Could Be Full-Go For Training Camp

Cleveland Browns second-year right tackle Dawand Jones (knee), who was taken in the fourth round in 2023 out of Ohio State, is still recovering from surgery to fix his torn right MCL that he suffered in practice on Dec. 7. The injury caused him to miss the final five games of the year and the wild-card loss to the Houston Texans. Jones has been taking part in organized team activities this offseason with a knee brace and is aiming to be ready for the start of the 2024 season this fall. If all goes according to plan, both Jones and left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. (knee), who is also rehabbing from a torn MCL, will be close to full-go in training camp this summer. Apparently, Wills is a step behind Jones in his recovery, but the Browns are hoping to have both tackles available for the Week 1 season opener. Jones finished his rookie campaign as the 26th-best tackle in the NFL, according to PFF.

Dawand Jones To Miss Rest Of Season With Knee Injury

Cleveland Browns rookie right tackle Dawand Jones (knee) will miss the rest of the 2023 season with a torn right MCL that will require surgery. The good news is he didn't tear his ACL, which would have required a nine- to 12-month recovery. The fourth-rounder out of Ohio State injured his knee in practice last Thursday and missed the Week 14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jones was out of shape in his first training camp over the summer but worked his way to being one of the best right tackles in the league in his first NFL season. The 22-year-old offensive tackle will be replaced by James Hudson III for the rest of the year. While Jones isn't a household name, this is a notable injury for Cleveland's offense the rest of the way. The Browns were down to their fourth and fifth tackle options in Sunday's game against the Jags.
