Grant Delpit News
Cleveland Browns rookie free safety Grant Delpit has been placed on Injured Reserve in the wake of having ruptured his Achilles tendon during practice Monday on a non-contact play. The move to shift Delpit to the IR cleared the way for claiming defensive end Curtis Weaver off of waivers from Miami. Without Delpit, the teams projected starting free safety, in the mix, expect veteran Andrew Sendejo to have the best opportunity at claiming the starting gig. The Browns Defense was already a shaky fantasy option prior to Delpits injury, and his season-ending injury is another reason to look elsewhere in season-long drafts.
Cleveland Browns rookie safety Grant Delpit (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles in practice on Monday, an MRI exam confirmed. Cleveland's initial fears became a reality after the second-round pick underwent testing Monday. Delpit will now miss his entire rookie season. It's a blow to the team's secondary, as the former star defensive back at LSU was slated to be the Browns starting free safety in 2020 next to strong safety Karl Joseph. The 21-year-old could become useful in IDP leagues as early as 2021 for his ability to play near the line of scrimmage and stop an opponent's running game. Andrew Sendejo could become Cleveland's starter at free safety with Delpit out for the year.
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit (Achilles') is undergoing tests on an Achilles' injury and will undergo an MRI Monday night. Delpit was carted off the field at practice on Monday, and the Browns are concerned that the rookie suffered a serious Achilles' injury that will cause him to miss considerable time. If the 21-year-old suffered a torn Achilles', he'll miss all of his rookie season in 2020. Delpit, who was drafted out of LSU, fits best at strong safety in the NFL with the ability to play near the line of scrimmage and stop the opponent's running game. Andrew Sendejo will need to step up in the Browns secondary if they lose Delpit for the season.
