Grant Delpit News
Cleveland Browns former second-round safety Grant Delpit has battled injuries, including an Achilles tear in his rookie season in 2020, but he's now a projected starter entering training camp after surging this offseason. Delpit intercepted quarterback Deshaun Watson on several occasions in team drills. The combination of Delpit and John Johnson III could make the Browns safeties a major strength in 2022. Delpit missed all of his rookie season and finished with 66 tackles (43 solo), three tackles for loss, one interception, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one sack in 15 games (seven starts) last year. If the 23-year-old can stay healthy, he could be a force for the Browns.
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit left Wednesday's practice after aggravating his hamstring injury. Delpit just can't catch a break as that was just his second practice back after dealing with the same injury for much of camp. The second-year safety injured the hamstring while in coverage against a deep ball and walked off of the practice field shortly after. The re-injury is going to make it tough for Delpit to be able to return in time for the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit has been sidelined by a hamstring injury over the past week and has taken just nine team reps in camp thus far. The former LSU safety was a second-round pick of the Browns in 2020 but he missed his entire rookie season with a ruptured Achilles. The Browns had been hoping he would be a starting safety opposite John Johnson III this year but instead Delpit is finding it difficult to get on the field and his availability for the team's regular-season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs is in question. The safety position in Cleveland has been a tough spot during camp as Ronnie Harrison Jr. and Sheldrick Redwine have both been sidelined by injury, as well.
