Grant Delpit News
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit (head) exited Sunday's loss to the Washington Commanders. He suffered a head injury and underwent an evaluation, so his status for the Week 6 meeting with the Eagles is up in the air. The 26-year-old entered Week 5 with 25 total tackles and one fumble recovery. With the Browns banged up on the defensive side of the ball, his absence isn't ideal for a team with only one win on the year.

Grant Delpit Out, Denzel Ward Questionable
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit (groin) has been ruled out for Saturday's wild-card playoff game against the Houston Texans, while cornerback Denzel Ward (knee) is listed as questionable after coming down with a knee injury in practice on Thursday. Delpit was designated to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, but he will not come off IR to help the Browns defense against the Texans. D'Anthony Bell should continue to start at safety for Cleveland with Delpit out. The Browns can ill-afford to also have Ward out against impressive first-round rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud this weekend. If Ward cannot go, Martin Emerson will most likely benefit from extra playing time against Houston.

Browns Designate Grant Delpit To Return From Injured Reserve
The Cleveland Browns designated standout safety Grant Delpit (groin) to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, giving hope to the Browns that he can return to help them in the playoffs. How much Delpit is able to do at practice the next two days will determine whether he officially comes off Injured Reserve in time to play on Saturday in the wild-card playoff contests against the Houston Texans. The 25-year-old missed the minimum of four games while on IR, but it remains to be seen if he'll be active this weekend. Delpit's return would be a huge boost for Cleveland's secondary and already strong defense and would be bad news for Texans impressive rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud in his first career playoff contest. Delpit had 80 tackles (63 solo), 1.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, four QB hits, one interception and a fumble recovery in 13 games played in 2023 in his third NFL season.

Grant Delpit, Ogbonnia Okoronkwo Could Be Out For Season
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit (groin) and defensive lineman Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (pectoral) could both be out for the season after getting banged up in the Week 14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Delpit is being placed on Injured Reserve with a groin injury, meaning his regular season is over. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said there's a chance he could return in the playoffs. Okoronkwo is dealing with a significant pectoral injury, which has the chance to sideline him for the rest of the season. The Browns have continued to see key players go down this season, including Deshaun Watson (shoulder), Nick Chubb (knee), Jedrick Willis (knee), and Jack Conklin (knee). However, they are sitting at 8-5 and are currently the No. 5 seed in the AFC. If either Delpit or Okoronkwo can return for the playoffs, it would give the franchise a better chance at winning its second playoff game since 1994.

Grant Delpit Questionable To Return On Sunday
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit (groin) exited Sunday's matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 25-year-old, who agreed to a three-year, $36 million contract extension before the contest, needed a cart to get to the locker room, so it's possible his day could be over. With Cleveland looking to make a strong postseason push, the Browns hope to have their leading tackler in Week 15 versus the Bears. However, Delpit will probably end up on the injury report heading into that contest.

Browns, Grant Delpit Agree To Extension
The Cleveland Browns have signed safety Grant Delpit to a three-year, $36 million extension. The LSU product was due for a new contract before hitting free agency this winter. He has looked very solid through 12 games in 2023, logging 72 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, and half of a sack. This move keeps a key piece of the Browns' secondary in place for several years to come.

Grant Delpit Projected To Start
Cleveland Browns former second-round safety Grant Delpit has battled injuries, including an Achilles tear in his rookie season in 2020, but he's now a projected starter entering training camp after surging this offseason. Delpit intercepted quarterback Deshaun Watson on several occasions in team drills. The combination of Delpit and John Johnson III could make the Browns safeties a major strength in 2022. Delpit missed all of his rookie season and finished with 66 tackles (43 solo), three tackles for loss, one interception, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one sack in 15 games (seven starts) last year. If the 23-year-old can stay healthy, he could be a force for the Browns.

Grant Delpit Aggravates Hamstring Injury
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit left Wednesday's practice after aggravating his hamstring injury. Delpit just can't catch a break as that was just his second practice back after dealing with the same injury for much of camp. The second-year safety injured the hamstring while in coverage against a deep ball and walked off of the practice field shortly after. The re-injury is going to make it tough for Delpit to be able to return in time for the season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Grant Delpit Dealing With Hamstring Injury
Cleveland Browns safety Grant Delpit has been sidelined by a hamstring injury over the past week and has taken just nine team reps in camp thus far. The former LSU safety was a second-round pick of the Browns in 2020 but he missed his entire rookie season with a ruptured Achilles. The Browns had been hoping he would be a starting safety opposite John Johnson III this year but instead Delpit is finding it difficult to get on the field and his availability for the team's regular-season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs is in question. The safety position in Cleveland has been a tough spot during camp as Ronnie Harrison Jr. and Sheldrick Redwine have both been sidelined by injury, as well.

Grant Delpit Lands On Injured Reserve
Cleveland Browns rookie free safety Grant Delpit has been placed on Injured Reserve in the wake of having ruptured his Achilles tendon during practice Monday on a non-contact play. The move to shift Delpit to the IR cleared the way for claiming defensive end Curtis Weaver off of waivers from Miami. Without Delpit, the teams projected starting free safety, in the mix, expect veteran Andrew Sendejo to have the best opportunity at claiming the starting gig. The Browns Defense was already a shaky fantasy option prior to Delpits injury, and his season-ending injury is another reason to look elsewhere in season-long drafts.
