Elgton Jenkins Skipping Offseason Workouts, Seeking New Deal To Move To Center

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins is not participating in the team's offseason workout program as he awaits a new contract, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. The two-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year, $68 million contract extension in December of 2022, but is looking for a new deal ahead of his seventh NFL campaign. Jenkins, who is primarily a guard, is open to moving to center full time. However, the highest-paid center in the league, Creed Humphrey, makes $18 million per year, while eight guards match or exceed that figure. Jenkins' current salary of $17 million would make him one of the highest-paid centers in the NFL, but his future earnings could be negatively impacted by making the move to the middle of the offensive line. Jenkins is largely viewed as one of the best interior offensive linemen in the NFL, so it would be wise for Green Bay to meet his demands.

Elgton Jenkins Questionable To Return

According to the team, Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (stinger) is questionable to return to Sunday's wild-card game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Jenkins sustained this injury during the first quarter. Sixth-round selection Travis Glover replaced Jenkins on their drive. Fantasy managers should expect Glover to remain in that role while Jenkins is sidelined.

Elgton Jenkins Ruled Out With Knee Injury

Green Bay Packers offensive guard Elgton Jenkins (knee) has been ruled out against the Falcons with a knee injury. The two-time pro-bowler was one of the anchors of this offensive line that helped hold the Bears to only one sack, as quarterback Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes last week. Royce Newman comes in to replace Jenkins at left guard.

Elgton Jenkins Receives Massive Four-Year Deal

The Green Bay Packers and star offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $68 million in base value with a maximum value of $74 million on Friday, according to sources. The deal makes Jenkins the second-highest paid guard in the NFL. He was in the final year of his rookie deal and was likely headed toward the franchise tag in 2023. It's a massive deal for a player a year removed from tearing his ACL. Jenkins will receive a $24 million signing bonus. The 26-year-old is Green Bay's starting left guard, but he's extremely versatile and can play most positions on the O-line in a pinch, making him even more valuable to the team. Jenkins made the Pro Bowl in his second season in 2020 and has started 12 games for the Packers this year.

Elgton Jenkins Doing Well In Rehab

Green Bay Packers center Elgton Jenkins (knee) has spent the majority of the offseason in Green Bay rehabbing his knee after tearing his ACL in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings. "Elgton's doing a great job. He's attacking it just the way you'd expect him to," head coach Matt LaFleur said. "I'm excited about just the progress that he's made and we expect him to be back to full strength at some point during the season." Jenkins made the Pro Bowl in 2020 and has played all five positions on the offensive line for the Packers. He's in line for a contract extension this offseason as he enters his fourth NFL season. Because Jenkins was a second-round pick, he doesn't carry a fifth-year option.

Elgton Jenkins Suffers Torn ACL

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (knee) suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, which will end his 2021 season. Jenkins, who is a Pro Bowl left guard, was playing left tackle to fill in for the Packers injured All-Pro David Bakhtiari (knee). The Green Bay offense has been hit hard by injuries over the past few weeks, as Aaron Jones and Allen Lazard remain sidelined. A Week 12 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams could be a nightmare for the decimated offensive line of the Packers, so quarterback Aaron Rodgers may need to rely on running back A.J. Dillon and the ground game to counter Aaron Donald, Von Miller and the rest of the Rams pass rush, much like the San Francisco 49ers did in Week 10.

Packers Fear Elgton Jenkins Has Torn ACL

Green Bay Packers left tackle Elgton Jenkins was carted off the field on Sunday against the Vikings and the team now fears that Jenkins has a torn ACL. If confirmed, that would end his 2021 season and would be a huge blow to the Packers offense. With David Bakhtiari (knee) injured as well, it looks like Yosh Nijman will need to fill in at left tackle, which is worrying for this Packers offense.

Elgton Jenkins Will Miss Week 3 Due To Injury

Green Bay Packers left tackle Elgton Jenkins (ankle) has been deemed inactive for Sunday's contest against San Francisco. Jenkins' absence is a hefty one for the Packers, who will have to counteract a highly skilled 49ers defense. While Green Bay's immediate plan to replace Jenkins isn't clear, Yosh Nijman could step in for his first NFL start. Without Jenkins protecting his blindside, quarterback Aaron Rodgers could face a long evening of running from former Pro Bowl defensive end Nick Bosa, who has amassed four quarterback hits and three sacks in his first two games. The result could be quicker passes from Rodgers and/or an increased focus on the run game in an effort to minimize the impact of Jenkins' absence. His next chance at suiting up comes Week 4 vs. the Steelers.
