Former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Teven Jenkins has signed an undisclosed deal with the Cleveland Browns. FOX Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported the news. Chicago drafted the 27-year-old in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and appeared in 45 games for the team (38 starts). During his tenure with the Bears, Jenkins has spent time at left tackle, left guard, and right guard. Cleveland's offensive line was amongst the best units in the league a few seasons ago, but that didn't carry over into 2024 -- particularly in pass-blocking situations. Quarterbacks Jameis Winston, Deshaun Watson (Achilles), and Dorian Thompson-Robinson were sacked a combined 65 times last season -- two fewer than the most-sacked QB in the NFL (Caleb Williams). Jenkins should be a significant boost for Cleveland's offensive front and is projected to slot in as a guard for the squad.
Former Chicago Bears offensive guard Teven Jenkins signed an undisclosed deal with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, sources told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Jenkins will head to the AFC North after starting 38 games over his last four seasons with the Bears. The 27-year-old former second-round pick (39th overall) in the 2021 NFL draft out of Oklahoma State started a career-high 14 games in the Windy City in 2024 and has had issues with injuries over his four years in the NFL. While durability hasn't really been Jenkins' thing, he'll head to Cleveland with plenty of experience and versatility along the offensive line in his career, having made 38 starts at left tackle, left guard and right guard. All 14 of his starts last year for the Bears came at left guard.
Chicago Bears free-agent offensive guard Teven Jenkins completed his visit with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson. The Seahawks also hosted former Green Bay Packers, Bears and New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Lucas Patrick on Monday as they look for reinforcements on their offensive line. The 27-year-old Jenkins missed a few games due to injury in 2024 in his fourth year in Chicago but started all 14 of the contests he appeared in. Jenkins began his NFL career as a left tackle before switching over to left guard, but he also has the ability to play right guard. He could be a stabilizing force for the Seahawks at the guard position in 2025, but Jenkins also has a tendency to get hurt and miss games, as he hasn't played in over 14 games in a single NFL season since entering the league in 2021.
Chicago Bears left guard Teven Jenkins (calf) and cornerback Jaylon Johnson (illness) are active for Sunday's Week 16 divisional battle against the Detroit Lions. Both players had been listed as questionable. Jenkins was limited on Friday while Johnson did not practice. The former has appeared in 13 games this season. On Sunday, he'll be tasked with slowing down a Lions defense that has been impressive despite losing key players to injury. Meanwhile, Johnson has suited up for all 14 contests so far, amassing 40 tackles and two interceptions. Chicago's secondary has been dominant against opposing passers, but they'll get a tougher test this week in the form of Jared Goff and his star receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Teven Jenkins Tagged As Questionable To Return Sunday
Chicago Bears offensive lineman Teven Jenkins (ankle) is considered questionable to return to their game against the New England Patriots. The fourth-year guard appeared on the injury report leading up to this contest with a knee injury but was cleared to participate until he suffered the ankle injury in the first half. The next left guard on the depth chart is on IR, so they'll have to shuffle around the line who is already struggling to protect Caleb Williams.
Chicago Bears offensive lineman Teven Jenkins (ribs) has officially been listed as questionable to return after picking up a rib injury in the first half of the contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Since there aren't any more left guards on the depth chart, Matt Pryor will move over to fill that vacancy while Nate Davis has come in to play right guard. The offensive line play has already been quite abysmal for the Bears, so this may spell even more trouble for Caleb Williams and the offense. Jenkins' status will be monitored as the game goes on, and he's worth monitoring going into next week to see if the Bears have to make any moves to bolster the depth of the offensive line.
The Chicago Bears are bracing to be without left guard Teven Jenkins (leg) for the start of the 2023 regular season due to a leg injury that he suffered earlier in training camp, according to sources. Jenkins took part in joint practices with the Indianapolis Colts last week but didn't suit up for the second preseason contest on Saturday against the Colts. The former second-round pick in 2021 out of Oklahoma State has played in only 19 games (13 starts) in his first two NFL seasons due to injuries. The 25-year-old will now miss more time to begin the 2023 campaign. In Jenkins' absence, Alex Leatherwood and Ja'Tyre Carter will battle for playing time at left guard in Chicago.
Chicago Bears offensive guard Teven Jenkins, who went from a college right tackle to the Bears' left tackle to right guard last year, is now the team's starting left guard after Nate Davis was signed this offseason to play right guard. "Just using your hands and where they aim and where to hit," Jenkins said. "A big thing for me right now is my pass protection. That's the thing. I'm trying to get better at it. And this big break that's coming up right here, that's exactly what I'm going to be working on the whole time." The 25-year-old is also doing pilates for his spine and his core after battling multiple back injuries in his first two NFL seasons. Jenkins has played in 19 games (13 starts) in 2021 and 2022 after being taken in the second round in 2021.
The Chicago Bears have received calls and have held trade talks centered around offensive tackle Teven Jenkins, according to sources. The former second-round pick is drawing trade interest during training camp based on his potential. Jenkins got a late start to his rookie season in 2021 due to an injury, and he wound up playing in only six games, starting two at left tackle. The Bears have been working the 24-year-old in as a second-team right tackle so far in training camp, so it would make sense to move him if they can get a late-round draft pick in return.
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy said that rookie offensive tackle Teven Jenkins (back) and safety Deon Bush (quadriceps) returned to practice on Monday, opening their 21-day window to be activated from Injured Reserve. Jenkins had back surgery in August and has been on IR all season, so he's likely need to need most of those 21 days before returning. The rookie fifth-rounder hasn't worn pads or practiced in almost a full year after opting out of his final college season due to COVID-19. The Bears invested a lot in Jenkins, but it's unclear if he'll get a shot at left tackle to protect rookie quarterback Justin Fields' blind side before the 2021 season is over. Veteran Jason Peters has been serviceable with Jenkins out and has started all nine games for Chicago in what might be his final season.
