Brandon Aiyuk News
The Athletic's Matt Barrows writes that he'd be very surprised if the San Francisco 49ers trade wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this offseason. The Niners are light on receivers, and Danny Gray didn't light up the stat sheet in 2022. If the team picks up Aiyuk's fifth-year option in May, he'll be under contract for two more years. Barrows thinks the 49ers will hold tight in 2023 and start considering a contract extension in 2024. The 24-year-old posted career-highs in catches (78), targets (114), receiving yards (1,015) and touchdowns (eight) in 17 regular season starts in his third NFL season while working with quarterbacks Trey Lance, Jimmy Garoppolo and Brock Purdy. With more stability under center potentially in 2023, Aiyuk could be just as good, if not better, for fantasy managers.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk caught just one pass for 10 yards on his only target of the NFC Championship Game, a 7-31 San Francisco loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. As the 49ers' primary deep threat, Aiyuk was hurt by the loss of quarterbacks Brock Purdy (elbow) and Josh Johnson (concussion protocol) to injuries. Purdy would come back in the third quarter, but he was unable to throw well and only attempted two passes, both for only a couple of yards. Aiyuk had his first 1,000-yard season of his career, so he could enter the 2023 fantasy season with momentum.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has a poor matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. The Eagles allow the fewest passing yards per game and the fewest per attempt. Opposing wide receiver units average 19.3 fantasy points per game, the eighth-fewest. The Cowboys presented a challenge to the 49ers offense last week, and Aiyuk only caught two passes for 26 yards. The Eagles are even tougher against the pass than are the Cowboys, so it is unlikely Aiyuk will do much better.

Brandon Aiyuk overcame a surprisingly slow start to his 2021 regular season and re-established his role as San Francisco's unquestioned WR2. The limitations in his usage and output from Weeks 1-7 were excruciating for anyone who selected him during the 2021 draft process, as it was clear that Kyle Shanahan was initially disenchanted with his second-year receiver. Aiyuk was limited to just 26 snaps, failed to register a target during the 49ers' season opener, and only exceeded three targets once...
