Eddy Pineiro On IR, Cairo Santos Expected To Start In Week 1

The Chicago Bears placed kicker Eddy Pineiro (groin) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday, and Cairo Santos is now expected to be the starting kicker in Week 1 against the Lions. Pineiro will be eligible to return after missing the first three weeks, but he can obviously be avoided to begin the year in all fantasy leagues. Santos, 28, kicked in five games for the Titans last year but made just 44.4 percent of his nine field-goal tries. The veteran kicker will just be keeping the spot warm until Pineiro returns from his injury, so he's not a good bet as a starting fantasy kicker at the beginning of the 2020 season.

Cairo Santos Misses All Four Field Goals

Tennessee Titans kicker Cairo Santos missed all four field goal attempts on Sunday against Buffalo. With the team's offense unable to get anything going as a result of a rough Bills Defense, the 27-year-old fizzled when he was needed the most. Santos has five misses on the year and hasn't done much to earn a spot on fantasy rosters this season. He will look to get it together against the Broncos in Week 6.

Ryan Succop Put On IR, Cairo Santos Signs

The Tennessee Titans placed kicker Ryan Succop (knee) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday and signed free agent Cairo Santos in a corresponding move, according to a source. Succop will have to sit out the first half of the season now, so he's obviously not a fantasy option. Santos made 14 of his 18 field-goal attempts with the Rams and Buccaneers last year. He's an 83.2 percent kicker in his five years in the league, but he's gone just 7-for-14 from 50-plus yards. He's an adequate fill-in for a run-first offense and should see plenty of opportunities, but Santos isn't on the fantasy radar to begin the season.
