Daniel Carlson News
The Las Vegas Raiders re-signed kicker Daniel Carlson, quarterback Nathan Peterman, offensive tackle David Sharpe and defensive backs D.J. Killings and Dallin Leavitt on Thursday. Carlson made 19 of his 26 field-goal attempts (73.1 percent) in 16 games last year for the Raiders. The 25-year-old will have to prove he belongs in training camp. He should be ignored in fantasy drafts this fall. Peterman is now at least third on the QB depth chart after the Raiders signed Marcus Mariota in free agency. He didn't play at all last season and threw one touchdown and seven interception in four games (two starts) for Buffalo in 2018.
Oakland Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson got off on the right foot in Monday's matchup versus the Broncos. He hit all three of his extra-point attempts as well as a 29-yard field goal to help his team cruise to a 24-16 victory in Week 1. Carlson finished the last ten games with the Silver and Black in 2018, setting a new franchise record with a 94% success rate. The fifth-round 2018 pick could find sneaky value this season at fantasy football's most overlooked position with the offense looking much more improved. Despite undesirable field conditions at the Coliseum, Carlson is in line for a busy week next Sunday when the Chiefs come to town.
Oakland Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson made good on three of his four field goal attempts in Thursday's preseason finale against the Seahawks. He hit a 43-yarder to cap the team's opening drive, but nailed the upright in his second attempt of the game from 42 yards out. The game was played under rainfall, so field conditions weren't ideal, but he did make his remaining two kicks finishing the preseason 7-for-8 in FG attempts. Carlson isn't an upper-echelon kicker to target in drafts but could be a sneaky option on this improving offense. He hit a team-record 94% of his kicks in ten games with the Silver and Black last year, and would be a valuable source for points in 2019 if he keeps a similar succession rate.
