DeMarvion Overshown Could Return In Middle Of 2025 Season
Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (knee) has been progressing well in his recovery from a significant knee injury, and there is optimism that he could return around the middle of the 2025 season, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Overshown was having a breakout campaign in 2024 before his knee injury, piling up 84 tackles, five sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, one fumble recovery, eight tackles for loss and a defensive touchdown in the first 13 games (12 starts) of his NFL career. The 24-year-old former third-rounder (90th overall) in 2023 out of Texas had surgery to fix ACL, MCL and PCL tears in his right knee on Dec. 18. The Cowboys will just be hoping that Overshown will be able to show the same type of burst he had as a pass-rusher in his rookie year when he returns from his serious knee injury. Fantasy managers in single-year IDP formats can ignore Overshown to begin the season.
DeMarvion Overshown Eyeing 'Comeback Player Of The Year'
During his appearance on Good Morning Football, Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown (knee) expressed his desire to return to the field at a high level in 2025. "I have my sights set high," proclaimed Overshown. "Not only do I want to be nominated for the Comeback Player of the Year, but I'm going to be the Comeback Player of the Year." Despite his age, the 24-year-old has dealt with his fair share of adversity. He tore his ACL during his days as a Longhorn in 2019 and then did so again in 2023 -- forcing him to miss his rookie season. Overshown was exceptional in 2024, racking up 87 tackles and five sacks in 13 games before tearing the ACL, MCL, and PCL in his right knee. Reports are that the Texas product plans to rejoin the team before December. He's already proven that he can return from a devastating injury twice before, and if he is the player he was before he got hurt, he'll be an impactful asset in IDP leagues. Still, it seems unlikely he'll be ready to hit the field until the back half of the season.

He is set for additional testing on Tuesday to confirm the severity of the injury, but in all likelihood, he will miss the last four games of the regular season. Overshown's knee was injured in the fourth quarter when Ted Karras fell on his leg, and he had to be helped off the field by Dallas' trainers. It did not look good. For the rest of the game and possibly moving forward, Marist Liufau will see more playing time in the middle of Dallas' defense next to Eric Kendricks. He's been a top-10 fantasy IDP linebacker in 2024 as one of Dallas' best playmakers on defense.
