The Minnesota Vikings have agreed with former Green Bay Packers linebacker Eric Wilson on a new contract. The terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. Wilson is heading back to Minnesota, where he started his career as an undrafted free agent in 2017. The 30-year-old had a breakout season in 2020, recording 121 tackles and three sacks over 15 games in his last stint with the team. However, he's yet to eclipse 63 takedowns in any other season (2024). In addition to his work on the defensive side of the ball, the Cincinnati product has played 1,942 snaps on special teams over his eight-year career. He figures to serve as depth in Minnesota's linebacker room. The Vikings have made a slew of acquisitions across their offensive and defensive fronts in 2025 and look to be competitive again in a tough NFC North.
Veteran linebacker Eric Wilson is re-signing with the Green Bay Packers, according to PackersWire.com and his Instagram account. The 29-year-old has been in the NFL since 2017, spending time with the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and Houston Texans before joining the Packers in 2022. He is primarily utilized as a depth linebacker and core special teamer. Wilson has 108 games of NFL experience on his resume and has totaled 327 tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, four interceptions, and nine passes defended in his career.
The Philadelphia Eagles are signing former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million on Wednesday, according to sources. Wilson registered 122 tackles and three interceptions for the Vikings last season in an every-down role when Anthony Barr went down with a serious injury. The Eagles were in need of some serious linebacker depth, so Wilson will be a nice addition to the middle of their defense. Wilson should have a shot to compete for a starting role in training camp after his big season in 2020. The 26-year-old has 234 tackles (18 for loss), 19 QB hits, three interceptions, eight passes defensed, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and eight sacks in 64 career games (25 starts) in four NFL seasons, all with Minnesota.
