Evan McPherson News
Cincinnati Bengals rookie kicker Evan McPherson made both of his field-goal attempts (long of 38 yards) and both of his extra-point tries in the 23-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday. McPherson proved to be very reliable in his rookie season in the NFL, making 84.8% of his 33 field-goal attempts in 16 regular season games, including going 9-for-11 from 50-plus yards. He missed only two of his 48 extra-point attempts and was perfect in the postseason -- 14-for-14 on field goals and 6-for-6 on extra points. The 22-year-old kicker finished the 2021 season tied for 11th in overall fantasy points at his position, and he's definitely a kicker on the rise, considering he's in one of the better up-and-coming offenses in the NFL.
Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah (hip, knee) and kicker Evan McPherson (groin) both practiced in full on Tuesday. Uzomah was active for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Cleveland Browns, but he didn't play a single offensive snap with the Bengals resting most of their starters. McPherson wasn't even active. Uzomah, who averaged 3.1 catches and 30.8 receiving yards while scoring a career-high five times in 16 games this year, will be a low-priced sleeper option in DFS on Saturday against a Las Vegas Raiders defense that allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to TEs in 2021. In the first meeting with Vegas in Week 11, Uzomah had just two catches for nine yards on three targets.
Cincinnati Bengals rookie kicker Evan McPherson (groin) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. You know it's the regular season finale when teams are resting their kickers. The Bengals elevated Elliott Fry from the practice squad to the active roster on Saturday, which was an early sign that McPherson would get Week 18 off to rest up for the playoffs. McPherson will come one field goal shy of setting the team's single-season record. The 22-year-old enters Week 18 action as the No. 5 kicker in fantasy by making 28 of his 33 field-goal attempts and 46 of his 48 extra points in 16 games. With the Bengals trotting out mostly backups on offense to close out the regular season, Fry won't be an attractive kicking option in place of McPherson.
