Jaelan Phillips Gets Dealt to Eagles for a Third-Round Pick

ESPN Senior NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, reports that the Miami Dolphins are trading edge rusher Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick. This is the third trade the Eagles have made in the past week. They have now added Phillips, as well as cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Michael Carter II. Phillips was selected by the Dolphins with the 18th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and is known to have high-motor, strong pass-rushing skills and high potential. Unfortunately, he has been limited by season-ending injuries, including a torn Achilles tendon in 2023 and an ACL injury in 2024; however, when he has been on the field, he has been effective. Phillips has 26 career sacks and 177 career tackles. In his first two seasons in the NFL (2021 and 2022), he played all 17 games each season and had seven-plus sacks in each year. This move should help the Eagles strengthen their front line and enable them to compete defensively for another NFC East title.

Eagles Looking to Trade for Jaelan Phillips

According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, the Philadelphia Eagles are one of the teams mentioned that are interested in trading for Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips. Wolfe indicated previously that the Fins have "been hesitant" about a potential trade involving the 26-year-old. However, with the Dolphins not expected to do much throughout the remainder of the 2025 campaign, it appears the team may be looking toward bolstering the roster in the years ahead. The Eagles have had trouble getting after opposing quarterbacks this season. Still, while Philadelphia could benefit significantly from such an acquisition, it's unknown what Miami is seeking in return. Phillips has spent his entire career with the Dolphins since entering the National Football League in 2021, totaling 177 tackles, 26 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception.

Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips Drawing Trade Interest

Multiple NFL teams have "reached out and have significant interest" in trading for Miami Dolphins pass-rushers Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, sources told Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network. The Dolphins have been hesitant to shop both Chubb and Phillips, but with another blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night and with the trade deadline coming next Tuesday, the Dolphins "may now be willing to make a move." After the 28-6 loss to the Ravens, the Dolphins parted ways with general manager Chris Grier on Friday and could be changing their stance on several of their assets before next week's deadline. Chubb is probably more attractive to contending teams seeking pass-rush help, as he is under contract through 2027 and has four sacks so far in 2025. Meanwhile, Phillips, who has three sacks this year, will be a free agent next March.

Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips Taking Part in OTAs

Miami Dolphins linebackers Bradley Chubb (knee) and Jaelan Phillips (knee) are taking part in most things during organized team activities, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. Barring a setback for both players with their knee injuries, the Dolphins appear to be on track to have their pass-rush trio intact for the start of training camp this summer. Chubb didn't play at all in 2024 due to a torn ACL, meniscus and patellar tendon, while Phillips suffered a season-ending ACL injury in October of last year. It remains to be seen how effective both Chubb and Phillips will be coming off their serious knee injuries, but it's certainly good news that they are both practicing, and their returns should be a boost to what was a weak Dolphins pass rush in 2024. Chubb, a former fifth overall pick by the Denver Broncos in 2018 out of North Carolina State, had 11 sacks in 2023 before his knee injury.

Jaelan Phillips Tears ACL, Could Open 2025 Healthy

Miami Dolphins pass rusher Jaelan Phillips (knee), who was placed on injured reserve last week, was diagnosed with a partially torn ACL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We did not know Phillips' specific injury when he announced his season was over, but now we have a confirmed diagnosis. Phillips will require full ACL reconstruction surgery and could still be ready for the 2025 season. Nevertheless, this is a major blow for both Miami and its talented defender. Injuries have been a burden on Phillips' promising, young career; he tore his Achilles on the MetLife Stadium turf in 2023.

Jaelan Phillips Done For The Season

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips (knee) said that his 2024 season is over. Phillips will require reconstructive knee surgery and will not be able to rejoin the team for the rest of the year. It's a major blow for the Dolphins defense the rest of the way. The 25-year-old Phillips also suffered a season-ending Achilles injury halfway through the 2023 season. The 18th overall pick in 2021 out of Miami, Phillips picked up six tackles (two solo), a sack, one tackle for loss and two QB hits while defending two passes in four games this year before his knee injury. Fantasy managers in single-year IDP formats can obviously drop Phillips now. The Dolphins will be asking a lot more out of Emmanuel Ogbah at the linebacker position with Phillips out for the rest of the season. The Dolphins defense/special teams unit is in play as a streaming option for the second week against a punchless Patriots offense in Week 5.

Jaelan Phillips Exited Game Against Titans With Knee Injury

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips (knee) exited his Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans due to an injury. It appears he may have tweaked his right knee, which forced him to leave the rest of the Monday Night Football matchup. This incident comes just two months after the Dolphins activated Phillips, who had ruptured his right Achilles in late November 2023. The extent of his injury remains unclear, but head coach Mike McDaniel noted that Phillips left the stadium wearing a knee brace. Losing Phillips is a significant blow, especially considering the effort he put in to return after the Dolphins exercised his fifth-year option just six months ago. With this latest setback, the Dolphins have now lost at least one key player in each of their last three games. If Phillips has to miss time, rookie Chop Robinson and veteran Quinton Bell are likely to see increased playing time.

Jaelan Phillips Limited In Practice

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips (Achilles) was limited in practice on Tuesday. Phillips tore his Achilles during the 2023 season. The Dolphins have been managing his reps early in the season as a result. Phillips is a game-breaking pass rusher. He recorded one sack in Week 1 during the Dolphins' win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Dolphins will need more excellent play out of Phillips in Week 2 if they have any hope of slowing down Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Jaelan Phillips Limited On Monday

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jaelan Phillips (Achilles) was a limited participant during Monday's practice. This doesn't comes as much of a shock after Phillips was on a snap count during the season opener. The Dolphins don't want to push anything with Phillips dealing with a serious injury. He played 33 snaps on Sunday and recorded one sack and two tackles during his time on the field. The expectation is that Phillips will be on a snap count again with the short week. The Dolphins host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday, so Phillips doesn't have a ton of time to get back to full speed. The former first-round pick should give this defense a nice boost once he's back to full health.

Jaelan Phillips Shows Promise In Return

Miami Dolphins edge rusher Jaelan Phillips (Achilles) has been activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list and is inching closer to a return. Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver praised Phillips, saying, "I'm certainly not counting that kid out of anything. He looks great. He looks like the Jaelan Phillips we all expect to see." Initially, there were concerns about whether Phillips would be ready for the start of the 2024 season, but now the focus has shifted to how many snaps he might play in the opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and early in the season. Phillips did not participate in Saturday's preseason win over the Commanders, as the Dolphins are likely being cautious with their 2021 first-round pick. He may have another opportunity to play in Friday's preseason finale against the Buccaneers, but it's possible he may not suit up until the Week 1 game against the Jaguars. With Miami needing a solid pass rush, Phillips' return is crucial. If he can't return to form, it will boost Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle to produce even more offensively if the defense struggles.
