Bradley Chubb News
The Denver Broncos placed outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, cornerback Bryce Callahan, linebacker Jonathan Cooper, safety Caden Sterns, defensive lineman Mike Purcell, cornerback Mike Ford, linebacker Andre Mintze and linebacker Stephen Weatherly on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday. None of them will be expected to play in Week 17 against the Los Angeles Chargers defense, leaving the Broncos defense decimated against a high-scoring offense on the road. Denver's D has been really solid in 2021 and are tied for the fewest points allowed per game (17.3), but they should be avoided in starting fantasy lineups during championship week.
The Denver Broncos officially activated outside linebacker Bradley Chubb (ankle) from Injured Reserve on Saturday, and he will be eligible to play on Sunday against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers. If he's active this weekend, head coach Vic Fangio said the team will monitor his snap count, so he won't be worth playing in IDP leagues after playing in just one game so far in 2021 back in Week 2. But when healthy, Chubb has the talent to be a difference-maker for a Broncos defense that traded away All-Pro pass-rusher Von Miller several weeks ago. Chub was a Pro Bowler in 2020 after recording 7.5 sacks, 26 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss and 19 QB hits in 14 games. Denver's defense still remains unattractive in Week 12 against a strong Chargers offense.
Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said that pass-rusher Bradley Chubb (ankle) practiced on Monday after being on Injured Reserve. The Broncos now have 21 days to activate Chubb from IR to give the team some much-needed pass-rushing help after they traded Von Miller to the Los Angeles Rams. The 25-year-old hasn't played since Week 2 and needed surgery on his troublesome ankle. It's unclear how long it will be until Chubb makes his return to the field, but his presence on Denver's defensive line will make them an even tougher defensive opponent. The Broncos defense currently is tied for 12th in the NFL with 24 total sacks through 10 games played. Chubb made his first Pro Bowl in 2020 when he had 42 tackles (26 solo), nine tackles for loss, 19 QB hits and 7.5 sacks in 14 games played.
