Ray Davis Active On Sunday

According to the team, Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) is officially active for Sunday's playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Davis sustained this concussion during their wild-card victory over the Denver Broncos. Davis was able to log three straight limited practice sessions and was able to turn the corner in time for this contest. Throughout the season, Davis has been deployed as a change-of-pace option in the Buffalo backfield, averaging a mere 6.6 attempts per game. Fantasy managers should continue to expect James Cook to operate as the lead back, with Ty Johnson operating as the No.2 option and Davis operating as a change-of-pace option. He is a high-risk flex option in DFS competitions, given his limited role in the offense.

Ray Davis Tagged As Questionable For Sunday

Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis (concussion) is currently listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's playoff matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Davis still remains in concussion protocol on Friday, which doesn't bode well for his chances of playing this weekend. The absence of Davis would likely mean an increased role for Ty Johnson in the backfield. Last week, Johnson rushed nine times for 44 yards while hauling in two receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown through the air. James Cook figures to see a majority of the carries after getting 23 touches last weekend. It's hard to imagine Johnson or Davis being reliable DFS options.

Ray Davis Remains In Concussion Protocol

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol on Friday. Davis suffered a scary concussion in the wild-card win over the Denver Broncos last Sunday and never returned to the game. While he remains in the concussion protocol, he's put in two limited practices this week. However, the 25-year-old backup will need to upgrade to a full practice on Friday and be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to get the green light to play this Sunday in the Divisional Round of the postseason versus the visiting Baltimore Ravens. The fact that he's still in the protocol on Friday means there's a good chance he'll be ruled out before Sunday's game. James Cook remains Buffalo's lead back, but a Davis absence would open up a much bigger workload for Ty Johnson against the Ravens.

Ray Davis Remains Limited On Thursday

According to the team, Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) remained limited during Thursday's practice. Davis will have another opportunity on Friday to log a full session before the final injury report. The Kentucky product suffered a concussion during Sunday's victory over the Denver Broncos. Before exiting, he ran the ball once for three yards. Through the first 16 contests of the season, Davis averaged 23.6 yards per game. During game No.17, Davis was given the start and tallied 64 yards on a season-high 15 attempts as the Bills had already locked up the No.2 seed. If Davis were to sit out on Sunday evening, fantasy managers should expect Ty Johnson to be deployed as the clear No.2 option behind James Cook against the Baltimore Ravens.

Ray Davis Limited In Wednesday's Practice

Buffalo Bills rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) was listed as a limited participant during the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. Although it was just a walkthrough, it's good news that Davis was limited after suffering a concussion in the wild-card win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Thursday will be a much bigger test as Davis works his way through the league's concussion protocol with hopes of being active for Sunday evening's Divisional Round battle against the Baltimore Ravens. The 25-year-old will likely need to upgrade to a full session in practice on Thursday or Friday to have a realistic chance to play this weekend as the primary change-of-pace option behind starter James Cook. Davis is an explosive backup option out of Buffalo's backfield, but if he's unable to gain clearance, Ty Johnson would serve as the primary backup to Cook against Baltimore.

Ray Davis Still In Concussion Protocol

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said on Wednesday that rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol. It means that Davis probably will not practice on Wednesday after suffering a concussion in Sunday's wild-card win over the Denver Broncos. The 25-year-old could be fighting an uphill battle to clear the concussion protocol before Sunday's Divisional Round showdown against the visiting Baltimore Ravens. Even if Davis returns to practice later this week, he'll need to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to get the green light to suit up on Sunday evening. With Davis up in the air to play in the Divisional Round, Ty Johnson could be in line for a bigger role behind starter James Cook against Baltimore. Johnson had a season-high nine carries for 44 yards against Denver and caught his fourth TD of the year. Check back on Davis' practice status.

Ray Davis In The Concussion Protocol

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott confirmed on Monday that rookie running back Ray Davis (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol after he suffered a head injury in the 31-7 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday on wild-card weekend. Davis was hit hard by Broncos defensive back Brandon Jones in the third quarter and stayed down on the field for a while before eventually being taken to the locker room. The 25-year-old did not return and finished the blowout win with only one carry for three yards. Fellow backfield mate Ty Johnson ended up having a big game with a season-high nine carries for 44 yards and two receptions for 26 yards and his third receiving TD of the year. Davis will now have to pass through the concussion protocol in order to play in the Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills. If Davis isn't cleared, Johnson would have a larger role again as James Cook's backup.

Ray Davis Exits Early With A Concussion, Won't Return On Sunday

Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis (concussion) exited Sunday's AFC Wild Card game against the Denver Broncos early and won't return. Davis took a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit during the third quarter and headed to the locker room shortly after. He was evaluated for a concussion and ultimately ruled out for the game. The 25-year-old had one carry for three yards and was not targeted before exiting Sunday's contest. It leaves James Cook and Ty Johnson to handle Buffalo's backfield for the rest of the game. Johnson should see an uptick in usage backing up Cook with Davis sidelined. Davis is considered day-to-day for now and will need to clear concussion protocols in order to play in the AFC Divisional Round if Buffalo advances.

Ray Davis Notches Receiving Touchdown In New England

Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis rushed for 64 yards on 15 carries during Sunday's Week 18 loss to the New England Patriots. He also caught two of three passes for one receiving yard, plus a receiving touchdown. The rookie was tasked with handling an increased workload on Sunday as the Bills reduced snaps for many of their key starters. In fact, Davis led Buffalo's backfield in snaps (35) and touches (17). For comparison, James Cook played 15 snaps and had 10 touches, adding a touchdown along the way. Meanwhile, Ty Johnson had 17 snaps and three touches. While Davis will lose his lead-back role to James Cook when the playoffs begin, Sunday's game showed that the Kentucky product is capable of handling a large workload as his team's primary running back. He'll rank as a low-end RB4 in fantasy football next season, maintaining his status as one of the more appealing handcuff options.

The rookie also caught a two-yard touchdown pass, his third receiving score of his debut campaign. Davis saw increased opportunities with Buffalo having clinched the second seed in the AFC playoffs before the game.
