Ty Johnson Inactive for Divisional Round

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (ankle) will be inactive when the Bills face the Broncos to kick off the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday. Johnson, who missed the team's Wild Card win over the Jaguars with an ankle injury, was able to return to practice on Thursday in a limited capacity, but he'll miss at least one more game. Johnson has seen most of his work this season in the passing game, totaling 263 yards and two scores on his 24 receptions, but without him, the Bills' already depleted receiving core may struggle to find space against Denver's top-three passing defense. The Bills are expected to have Curtis Samuel (elbow) back for the first time since Week 11, but in the win against the Jaguars, Khalil Shakir led the team with 12 receptions, while no other Bills player topped three catches.

Ty Johnson to be Questionable Against Denver

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that running back Ty Johnson (ankle) will be limited in practice on Thursday and will be listed as questionable on the final injury report for the Divisional Round on Saturday in Denver against the Broncos, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic. Johnson injured his ankle in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the New York Jets and was inactive last Sunday for the Wild-Card victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 28-year-old could be a game-time decision in Denver on Saturday, but even if he suits up, he won't be recommended for fantasy playoff lineups against a stout Broncos defense. Johnson has mostly operated as the RB3 this year behind starter James Cook and Ray Davis, carrying the ball 50 times for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson added two receiving TDs in 17 regular-season games.

Ty Johnson Trending Toward Another Absence

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (ankle) was unable to practice for the second straight day this week on Wednesday due to an ankle injury that he picked up in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the New York Jets. Johnson was inactive in Sunday's Wild-Card win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and is trending toward missing a second straight game. Even if the 28-year-old practices on Thursday and can play on Saturday against the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round, Johnson won't be on the fantasy radar in playoff leagues as the team's RB3 behind James Cook and Ray Davis. Davis only played 32% of the offensive snaps last weekend with Johnson out, failing to record a rushing attempt or a target in the passing game. Davis isn't a standalone fantasy option, either, as long as Cook remains healthy.

Ty Johnson Inactive for Wild-Card Game

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (ankle) is officially inactive for Sunday's Wild-Card matchup against the hosting Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic. Johnson injured his ankle in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the New York Jets last Sunday and will not be available for the first round of the postseason. The 28-year-old wouldn't have been on the fantasy football radar as the RB3 if he was active, but his absence means that Ray Davis should see a bigger complementary role behind starter James Cook in a tough matchup against the Jaguars, a team that allowed the fewest rushing yards per game in 2025. The 28-year-old Johnson had 50 carries for 200 yards and three touchdowns while adding 24 catches for 263 yards and two more scores as a pass-catcher in 17 regular-season games for the Bills.

Ty Johnson Officially Questionable for Wild-Card Game

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Friday but is listed as questionable to play in Sunday's Wild-Card playoff tilt against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Johnson was a DNP on both Wednesday and Thursday. The 28-year-old was considered day-to-day after injuring his ankle in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the New York Jets, a game in which he had a rushing and receiving touchdown. Even if Johnson ends up playing against the Jags, he won't be a realistic starting option in fantasy football playoff formats. Johnson only had 50 rushing attempts during the regular season for 200 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Ray Davis would play a slightly bigger complementary role in Buffalo's backfield this weekend behind starter James Cook if Johnson is inactive.

Ty Johnson to Practice on Friday

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said on the radio that running back Ty Johnson will practice on Friday, and the team will see how he does, according to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic. Johnson tweaked his ankle in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the New York Jets and was unable to practice on Wednesday or Thursday. It's good news that the 28-year-old is back on the field on Friday, but he'll likely at least carry a questionable designation into Sunday's Wild-Card playoff tilt against the hosting Jacksonville Jaguars. Johnson had two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) in the Week 18 win on 15 touches, but it came with the Bills resting starting RB James Cook. If Johnson can play this weekend, he'll likely operate as the RB3 in Buffalo's backfield and won't be a recommended sleeper play in fantasy at the RB position.

Ty Johnson Still Not Practicing

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (ankle) was not seen at the portion of practice open to the media on Thursday, according to ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg. Johnson was also listed as a non-participant during Wednesday's walkthrough practice, putting him in danger of missing Sunday's Wild-Card playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 28-year-old got more run in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday against the New York Jets, but he suffered an ankle injury that has kept him out of the first two practices this week. Johnson isn't a realistic starting fantasy back when healthy as the RB3 behind James Cook and Ray Davis. If he doesn't play this weekend, though, it could open up a bigger complementary role for Davis, who had 21 carries for 151 rushing yards against the Jets, also adding a receiving touchdown.

Ty Johnson Listed as DNP on Wednesday

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (ankle) was unable to practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury that he suffered in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the New York Jets on Sunday. Before his injury, Johnson handled a season-high 13 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown and added two catches for 20 yards and another score with the Bills resting starting RB James Cook after the opening drive. The 28-year-old is now in danger of missing Wild-Card weekend on Sunday versus the Jacksonville Jaguars if he's unable to return to practice the next two days. Johnson isn't a realistic fantasy option if he's able to suit up this weekend with both Cook and Ray Davis fully healthy. If Johnson cannot go against the Jags, Davis would see more complementary work in the backfield behind Cook.

Ty Johnson Day-to-Day With Ankle Injury

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (ankle) is considered day-to-day with an ankle injury coming out of the team's Week 18 win over the New York Jets on Sunday, according to Matthew Bove. Johnson and Ray Davis saw much more work in the season finale against the Jets, with the Bills resting James Cook after he got the first two touches of the game. Johnson played 33% of the offensive snaps, carrying the ball a season-high 13 times for 36 yards and a touchdown. He added two catches on his two targets for 20 yards and another touchdown through the air. Davis touched the ball a team-high 23 times for 174 scrimmage yards and a touchdown as Buffalo's primary back. The 28-year-old Johnson finished the 2025 regular season with 50 carries for 200 yards and three TDs, adding 263 receiving yards and two more scores. It's unclear if he'll be ready for the Wild-Card round of the playoffs on Sunday against the Jags, but if he is, Johnson will be the RB3 behind Cook and Davis.

Ty Johnson Finds End Zone as Runner and Receiver in Season Finale

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson recorded his first two touchdowns of his career in Week 18's 35-8 win over the New York Jets, handling 13 carries for 36 yards while adding two catches (two targets) for 20 yards as a receiver. Both of Johnson's touchdowns came from six yards out, with the first one coming on the ground to cap a 13-play, 84-yard drive, and the second coming on a receiving touchdown that marked the Bills' final score of the regular season in the fourth quarter. Johnson played behind Ray Davis, who handled 21 carries for 151 yards, but he earned the high-value touches in the offense with James Cook resting after the first drive. The 28-year-old became the 21st player this season to post at least 200 rushing yards and 250 receiving yards with five total touchdowns, and he is the only one to do so while playing fewer than 40% of the offensive snaps for the season.
