Maxwell Hairston Week-to-Week with Knee Injury

Buffalo Bills cornerback Maxwell Hairston (knee) is considered week-to-week after suffering a knee injury that forced him out of Tuesday's practice, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The rookie first-round pick out of Kentucky is expected to compete for a starting role right away, and the injury is much less serious than it could have been, considering it was a non-contact injury. The 21-year-old's development could be slowed down by his absence, but it sounds like he should be ready for the Week 1 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. In three seasons at Kentucky, Hairston tallied six interceptions and three defensive touchdowns, so the organization is hoping he can bring that playmaking ability to the next level.

Maxwell Hairston Leaves Practice with Knee Injury

Buffalo Bills rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston (knee) limped off the field with a trainer after suffering an apparent injury to his right knee during the team's practice on Tuesday. Buffalo selected Hairston in the first round of the 2025 draft out of Kentucky, and the rookie had been projected to step into a starting role on the outside opposite Buffalo's top corner, Christian Benford. In 32 career games across three seasons at Kentucky, Hairston recorded 71 solo tackles, six interceptions, and three defensive touchdowns. The severity of this current knee injury is unclear, but any amount of missed time could be trouble for a rookie in need of all the preseason preparation he can get. If Hairston were to miss regular-season games, veterans Tre'Davious White and Dane Jackson would be the most likely candidates to see increased playing time.

Maxwell Hairston Facing Sexual-Assault Lawsuit

Buffalo Bills rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston has been named in a civil lawsuit related to an alleged incident that happened in 2021, according to WKBW.com. Bryant Law Center and Meyers & Flowers filed the Lawsuit on Tuesday, and a woman is accusing Hairston of sexual assault while he was a student at the University of Kentucky. Hairston was selected by the Bills in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft (No. 30 overall) after a stellar career for the Wildcats. In 32 games, he compiled 87 tackles, six interceptions, and 10 pass deflections. This is a situation worth monitoring as he heads into his first NFL training camp.

Maxwell Hairston Tweaks Hamstring

Buffalo Bills rookie defensive back Maxwell Hairston (hamstring) missed Thursday's minicamp practice session due to a hamstring injury. General manager Brandon Beane said the Kentucky product "tweaked" his hamstring and is getting treatment. Per Beane, the expectation is that he'll be ready for training camp. Buffalo's No. 30 overall selection in April's draft, Hairston projects to eventually slot into the team's second cornerback spot that was vacated by the departure of ex-Bill Rasul Douglas. The 21-year-old is most likely in no danger of missing training camp, and figures to play a prominent role in the Bills' secondary at some point in his first professional campaign.

Bills Address Secondary And Take Maxwell Hairston With 30th Overall Pick

The Buffalo Bills selected Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night. Hairston is a speedy coverage cornerback deep down the field that is projected to develop into a plus starter eventually. The 5-foot-11, 183-pounder missed five games in 2024 with a shoulder injury and started seven games, totaling 19 tackles, a sack, an interception returned for a touchdown, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles. The 21-year-old stands out for his 4.28-second 40-yard dash speed, but his tackling abilities are questionable, and he could be suspect to more injuries at the NFL level while having to match up with big, physical receivers down the field. Early on in his NFL debut in 2025, Hairston probably won't play regularly, but he'll give Buffalo a speedy cover man to match up with burners on offense.
