Patriots Signing Former Packers Wideout Romeo Doubs

The New England Patriots are signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs to a four-year deal for roughly $70 million on Tuesday, multiple sources told Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. The 25-year-old former fourth-round pick (132nd overall) in 2022 out of Nevada had 202 catches on 320 targets for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns in 59 games (50 starts) in his four seasons with the Packers. Doubs had a career-high 724 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 16 regular-season games on 85 targets last year, filling in nicely for the offense with several other wideouts battling injuries throughout the year. He doesn't have the upside of a high-end WR1 in fantasy or real life, but Doubs is a significant signing for New England and for young quarterback Drake Maye to help replace Stefon Diggs. Depending on what else the Pats do at the receiver position in free agency, trades, and the draft, Doubs could have more upside left in an excellent landing spot.

Romeo Doubs to Have a Strong Market in Free Agency

Impending free-agent wide receiver Romeo Doubs plans to hit the free-agent market after talks with the Green Bay Packers didn't result in a new deal. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, and Tennessee Titans are "closely watching his market," as are the San Francisco 49ers. Some evaluators consider Doubs to be the "best all-around receiver" in this year's group on the open market. It's basically the same list of interested teams for Indianapolis Colts impending wideout Alec Pierce. Doubs led the Packers with 724 receiving yards and six touchdown catches on 55 receptions in 16 regular-season games. The production doesn't exactly turn a ton of heads, but the 25-year-old has proven to be reliable and versatile, which will attract plenty of interest in free-agency. Doubs could be one of the most underrated sleeper receivers in fantasy drafts this fall, depending on his landing spot.

Romeo Doubs to Hit the Open Market

Wide receiver Romeo Doubs is set to hit free agency for the first time in his career after talks with the Green Bay Packers were unable to result in a new deal, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Amidst an underwhelming free agent class topped by the soon-to-be 26-year-old Alec Pierce, the market for Doubs is expected to be robust. He has averaged over 50 receptions for almost 700 yards and six touchdowns over the past three seasons and profiles as a WR2 or 3 on most offenses, utilized primarily along the boundary over the course of his four-year career. While he has struggled with untimely drops, his 5.2% drop rate in 2025 was the lowest of his career, while 66.3% reception rate marked a personal best.

49ers Have Interest in Alec Pierce, Romeo Doubs

The San Francisco 49ers have an interest in impending free-agent wide receivers Alec Pierce and Romeo Doubs, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. Brandon Aiyuk (knee) will be released soon, and it "sure seems" like Jauan Jennings won't be retained at the wide receiver position in the Bay Area. Former first-rounder and injury-prone wideout Ricky Pearsall would be the team's top wideout if both Aiyuk and Jennings leave, which is why it's not a surprise at all that the 49ers are looking at both Pierce and Doubs. Both wideouts are coming off career years with the Colts and Packers, respectively, and are in line for bigger roles with new teams in 2026 and beyond. Pierce, 25, had 1,003 yards and six touchdowns on 47 catches in 15 games as Indy's leading receiver. Doubs, 25, had a 55-724-6 line in 16 regular-season games. Pierce has a higher fantasy ceiling because of his big-play ability; he's led the league the last two years in yards per reception.

Bills Could Go After Romeo Doubs, Rashid Shaheed in Free Agency

Rival teams expect the Buffalo Bills to "strongly address wide receiver in the coming weeks," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Multiple league executives are linking Green Bay Packers wideout Romeo Doubs and Seattle Seahawks receiver/return man Rashid Shaheed to the Bills. The Indianapolis Colts' Alec Pierce will likely be out of Buffalo's price range, and he's also not expected to reach the open market. Shaheed is also being linked to the Las Vegas Raiders, with new head coach Klint Kubiak looking to bring him over after coaching him in Seattle in 2025. Doubs could be a good fit with the San Francisco 49ers. Doubs will probably be the more consistent fantasy option in 2026, and a move to Buffalo would make him very intriguing after he put up a 55-724-6 line in 16 regular-season games last season. He'd be the favorite for WR2 duties for the Bills behind Khalil Shakir.

Romeo Doubs Not Expected to Return to Packers

The Athletic's Matt Schneidman writes that Green Bay Packers impending free-agent wide receiver Romeo Doubs "is as good as gone in free agency." Doubs is coming off a strong fourth year in the NFL and is fully expected to sign a multi-year extension with a new team this offseason after catching 55 of his 85 targets for a career-high 724 yards and six touchdowns in 16 regular-season games. The 25-year-old former fourth-rounder in 2022 out of Nevada probably won't become a No. 1 wideout with a change of scenery, but he's an underrated player and should be easily considered a top-five free agent at his position going into next season. Doubs has 202 receptions for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns in his four NFL seasons, and with the right offense, he could become a priority target as a No. 2 or 3 wideout in fantasy in 2026.

Romeo Doubs Heading to Free Agency After Career Year

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs surprisingly led the team in receptions (55), targets (85), and receiving yards (724) in 2025 while tying for the team lead in receiving touchdowns (six). Doubs' 724 receiving yards were a new season high in his fourth year in the league. The 25-year-old also finished strong, catching eight of his 11 targets for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Wild-Card playoff loss to the Chicago Bears. Doubs had a career high of 12 catches that went 20-plus yards in 2025. It helped that both Christian Watson and Jayden Reed missed substantial time with injuries, which allowed Doubs to maintain a steady target share throughout the season. Tight end Tucker Kraft (knee) also suffered a season-ending torn ACL. Doubs' numbers probably wouldn't have looked as great if everyone were healthy. Still, he's proven to be a reliable receiver with 2,424 yards and 21 TDs in his four seasons. The best bet for his 2026 fantasy value is for him to sign with another team and get away from Green Bay's crowded WR picture.

Romeo Doubs Paces Receiver Room in Busy Wild-Card Loss

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs caught eight of his 11 targets for 124 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's Wild Card loss against the Chicago Bears. Doubs was relatively inconsistent this season, but he feasted during his final two games against the Bears, totaling 13 catches, 208 yards, and two touchdowns during that span. The 25-year-old was one of several receivers who benefited from Jordan Love's busy passing game on Saturday. He and three other wide receivers all scored touchdowns, but he paced the team in targets, catches, and yards. Doubs is an impending free agent, and it seems likely that he'll test the market with an opportunity to escape from Green Bay's very crowded wide receiver room.

Romeo Doubs Tough to Trust Despite Favorable Wild-Card Matchup

Across 16 games played in 2025, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs recorded 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns on 85 targets. Doubs was Green Bay's most reliable wide receiver option through the early portion of the season, averaging 6.4 targets per game over his first 10 contests. However, his role was diminished down the stretch, as he averaged just 3.5 targets per game over his final six outings. Doubs' playing time dropped off in the second half of the season as well, as he played more than 76% of the Packers' offensive snaps in just two games after Week 10. Green Bay will face the Chicago Bears in the first round of the NFC playoffs on Saturday night. Doubs had a big game against Chicago in Week 16, recording five catches for 84 yards and a touchdown on six targets. However, he struggled mightily against the Bears in Week 14, going without a reception on two targets. Based on his late-season inconsistency and the question marks around his role in the Green Bay offense, Doubs profiles as a low-end wide receiver option for fantasy managers in playoff leagues.

Romeo Doubs a Low-End Flex Play in Week 17

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs had a nice week in Week 16 and looks to parlay that into a second consecutive nice game as the Packers will host the Baltimore Ravens in a pivotal Week 17 showdown. In Week 16 against the Bears, Doubs put up a 5-82-1 line on six targets, leading the Packers in all receiving categories as Jordan Love (shoulder/concussion) left the game and Malik Willis came in. Both quarterbacks are questionable for Saturday's Week 17 tilt, leaving some doubt about how much the Packers will pass the ball. With Christian Watson (shoulder/illness) questionable for Saturday's game, Doubs could see more targets directed his way if Watson doesn't play. However, with Green Bay's willingness to run the ball, passing volume is an issue for any Green Bay pass-catcher. Consider Doubs a low-end flex play for Week 17's matchup against Baltimore, which allows the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing receivers.
