Romeo Doubs a Priority Add Before Week 1

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs shouldn't be sitting on many waiver wires heading into Week 1. RotoBaller has him fifth among its pre-Week 1 wide receiver pickups and recommends adding him in leagues with 10 or more teams. The role is there, too. New England's unofficial depth chart has Doubs with the first-team offense after he came over from Green Bay, where he caught 55 passes for a career-high 724 yards and six touchdowns last season. He followed that with eight catches for 124 yards and another score in the playoffs. A.J. Brown will command plenty of targets, and DeMario Douglas and Hunter Henry aren't going away, so Doubs doesn't need to be forced into fantasy lineups immediately. RotoBaller has him at WR48 for the opener in Seattle. That ranking shouldn't stop managers from adding him, though. Doubs has enough of a role and enough production behind him to be more than a speculative stash, making him a priority pickup in 10-team leagues and deeper.

Romeo Doubs Set To Be No. 2 Receiver in New England

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs is set for a No. 2 receiver role in New England behind A.J. Brown following the trade of Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans. Doubs is joining New England from the Green Bay Packers where he averaged 10.3 points per game in PPR leagues and finished with a career high 13.2 yards per reception. All in all he had 85 targets and 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns. Look for Doubs to carry some value in New England's offense with his big-play ability opposite Brown on the outside with Drake Maye targeting him in the pass game. With the trade of Boutte, Doubs sees his value increase and he should be a nice value pick in fantasy leagues. Draft him with confidence in what looks to be a good offense in New England with a big opportunity.

Romeo Doubs the Clear WR2 After Monday's Trade

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs already had the No. 2 job, and Monday's Kayshon Boutte trade clears out another player who could have taken outside snaps and downfield targets. New England agreed to send Boutte to Houston for safety Jaylen Reed and a 2028 seventh-round pick. Doubs is coming off 55 catches for 724 yards and six touchdowns with Green Bay, and his first Patriots camp has picked up after a slower start. He has made several contested and red-zone catches lately, while A.J. Brown, Doubs and DeMario Douglas have been the regular first-team trio around Drake Maye. Boutte was mostly working behind that group, but he still had 551 yards and six touchdowns last season and gave Maye another proven vertical option. That competition is gone now. Brown remains the clear No. 1 and Douglas should get plenty of slot work, so Doubs is not suddenly headed for massive volume. His place in the offense does look even safer, though. RotoBaller has him at WR53 and 122nd overall in PPR, and the trade gives his late-round flex case another small bump.

Romeo Doubs Ascending at Patriots Practice

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs has risen during training camp and delivered a stellar practice on Saturday. Doubs caught three touchdown passes in Saturday's practice and has had his best practices over the past week. Head coach Mike Vrabel said that Doubs is "trending in the right direction. I think he found where Rome can really help us -- be big, fast and aggressive." The former Green Bay Packers wideout had 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns last season, playing as a primary X receiver under Matt LaFleur. Now in New England, Doubs is expected to move around much more and, hopefully, be a key outside playmaker alongside former Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown. Ranked WR54 in RotoBaller's positional rankings, Doubs looks like a potential steal at his current value in a new situation.

Romeo Doubs Scores Three Touchdowns in Saturday's Practice

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs had a big day at Saturday's practice, catching three touchdowns, according to Doug Kyed. It continues a strong stretch for Doubs after he started camp a little slowly and then began making more plays once he settled into the offense. The Patriots currently list him with the first-team offense, and he is coming off a 2025 season in Green Bay in which he caught 55 passes for a career-high 724 yards and six touchdowns. Doubs also led the Packers with 12 receptions of 20-plus yards. New England brought him in to be a significant part of the passing game alongside A.J. Brown, and days like Saturday are a good sign that the transition is coming along. Practice touchdowns only mean so much in August, but three in one session is hard to ignore. Doubs is giving himself a chance to carry some real red-zone appeal into the regular season.

Romeo Doubs Getting "Better and Better"

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs recently missed a pair of practices for personal reasons, but since returning, he's made a number of standout plays, including a deep over-the-shoulder catch in Tuesday's joint practice with the Colts. Team reporter Evan Lazar credits the big-ticket free agent acquisition with making steady progress after what he viewed as a slower start to camp, as his budding chemistry with quarterback Drake Maye is becoming apparent. While veteran Stefon Diggs operated out of the 'Z' spot last season with clean separation, Doubs plays the position differently, relying on physicality to win at the catch point, and with Maye already proving to be one of the league's most accurate throwers, Lazar recognizes that the new twosome is learning to play together, with their connection on Tuesday proving difficult to stop even with near perfect coverage. Doubs is RotoBaller's WR54 and should provide a safe floor in 2026 as an important chain-mover in what could be a high-level Patriots offense.

Romeo Doubs Returns to Practice

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs returned to practice on Friday, with team reporter Karen Guregian noting that his absence from the last two practices was personal in nature and not injury-related. After signing a four-year, $68 million contract this offseason, Doubs had gotten off to a slow start in his first training camp with the Patriots but was picking up momentum in more recent, and more physical, padded practices. The fifth-year receiver has acknowledged that Josh McDaniels' offense is unlike any he was a part of in Green Bay, but having made obvious strides before his absence, he'll look to pick things back up where he left them. At RotoBaller's WR53, Doubs could provide excellent late-round value as the WR2 in an offense that scored the third most touchdowns in 2025 and appears to have only gotten better in year two under McDaniels and quarterback Drake Maye.

Romeo Doubs Remains Absent From Patriots Practice

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs (undisclosed) remained absent from Thursday's practice, according to Taylor Kyles. Doubs also missed Wednesday's walkthrough, and the team has not given a reason for either absence. The 26-year-old joined New England after catching 55 passes for a career-high 724 yards and six touchdowns with Green Bay last season. His absence has opened first-team work for Efton Chism III, who filled in during Wednesday's session. With no injury or timetable reported, Doubs' status is worth tracking when the Patriots return to the field Friday.

Romeo Doubs Misses Walkthrough Practice

New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs appeared slightly hobbled in recent days, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss, and he was not present for the team's Wednesday walkthrough practice. After a slow start to camp, Doubs has begun to build momentum, seemingly gaining comfort in a Josh McDaniels offense that asks more of its wide receivers than any system he'd been a part of in Green Bay. Doubs is projected to serve as the team's second receiver opposite A.J. Brown, and while Reiss doesn't believe he is dealing with anything overly serious, his status will need to be monitored, as receiver represents the Patriots' deepest position group of camp and any prolonged absence could create pathways for others to climb the depth chart. Doubs is RotoBaller's WR52 and should provide steady production in a modified version of the role that saw Stefon Diggs accumulate 1,013 yards a season ago.

Romeo Doubs Not Standing Out Early in Training Camp

While entirely too early to be raising any red flags, New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs has failed to stand out through the team's first two practices of training camp, with senior team reporter Evan Lazar pointing out a lack of consistent separation. Doubs is still learning a new playbook, which he has publicly admitted is nothing like the offense he was a part of for four years in Green Bay, and as a more physical receiver, the non-padded practices to begin camp simply may not be the setting for him to showcase all of his abilities. Still, after signing a four-year, $68 million contract in free agency, he has yet to be singled out by the team beat. By contrast, incumbent X-receiver Kayshon Boutte has been praised for making highlight-worthy catches in each of the team's first two practices following an offseason of trade speculation. Still early, the battle for primary reps opposite A.J. Brown in two-receiver sets could become an intriguing storyline of Patriots camp and one that could reshape late-round draft plans, as Doubs is currently RotoBaller's WR53 while Boutte sits at WR77.
