Zavier Scott Suffers Wrist Injury in Week 7

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott suffered an injury to his right wrist in Week 7's loss to the Eagles. Scott handled four carries for four yards and added a catch for two yards in the game, and appears to have banged up his wrist at some point during the game. Scott has served as the primary backup to Jordan Mason while Aaron Jones (hamstring) is on injured reserve. The severity of Scott's injury is unclear at the moment, but more updates should follow in the coming days.

Fluctuating Role Keeps Zavier Scott On Backburner

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott should be considered only as a desperation RB5 when his team takes on Philadelphia in Week 7 due to his low volume in the offense. Playing an elevated role due to the injury to Aaron Jones (hamstring), Scott caught six passes for 43 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against Pittsburgh, but isn't getting enough touches overall to be relied upon in fantasy. With Jordan Mason getting the lion's share of work, Scott is drawing an average of just over seven touches per game, which generally isn't enough to consider for fantasy lineups. The Eagles have struggled against fantasy running backs, but playing Scott would be totally dependent on the possibility that he scores a touchdown in one of his limited opportunities.

Zavier Scott A High-Risk Bet After Breakout Game

Following his best game in the NFL, Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott is a risky RB4/Flex option heading into a matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The former Maine standout is a converted wide receiver who caught six passes and a touchdown last week, showing his fantasy appeal and making him a hot waiver commodity. Minnesota, however, has its hands full in Week 5. Three of the Vikings' five starting offensive lineman are out due to injury, and they'll play a Browns defense that leads the NFL in rushing defense with 2.7 yards per carry. Already the clear second option to starter Jordan Mason, Scott's opportunity could be diminished if the patchwork Minnesota offensive line can't hold up against Cleveland.

Zavier Scott Carving Out Clear Passing-Down Role in Minnesota?

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott saw heavy usage in the pass game in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, recording six catches for 43 yards and a touchdown on eight targets. With veteran running back Aaron Jones Sr. (hamstring) on Injured Reserve through at least Week 7 due to a hamstring injury, Scott appears to be Minnesota's passing-down back next to early-down workhorse Jordan Mason. In the two games since Jones Sr. got injured, Scott has recorded 10 carries for 31 yards and seven catches for 63 yards and a score. The 26-year-old's usage will probably be game-script dependent, as he benefited from Minnesota playing from behind for most of Week 4. Scott is worth adding in deep fantasy leagues of 14 or more teams.

Career-Best Day for Zavier Scott

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott had the best game of his young career Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching six passes for 43 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' 24-21 defeat. The former undrafted free agent rushed only twice for one yard, but Minnesota trailed by 18 at one point and called only 18 designed running plays in the game. With running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) out until at least Week 7, Scott could have some streaming value behind starter Jordan Mason, especially in PPR leagues. As a converted wide receiver, his pass-catching ability should keep him on the radar as the Vikings prepare to take on Cleveland in Week 5.

Zavier Scott the Clear-Cut RB2 in Minnesota

Minnesota Vikings rookie running back Zavier Scott made his presence felt in the team's 48-10 blowout win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Scott logged eight carries for 30 yards and added a 20-yard reception, playing 28% of the snaps in Week 3. With veteran Aaron Jones sidelined by a hamstring injury, Scott helped fill the void and looked comfortable in his role. The rookie flashed upside in the preseason, totaling 157 scrimmage yards on 27 touches across three games, and he now appears to have taken the RB2 role behind starter Jordan Mason. While Mason remains the clear workhorse, Scott's growing involvement makes him a player to keep an eye on. From a fantasy perspective, Scott is not yet a must-add, but he's on the radar in deeper leagues as his role continues to expand.

Zavier Scott to be Involved in Week 3

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott is expected to be involved in the running game during Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Vikings are without Aaron Jones (hamstring), so Jordan Mason will be asked to be the lead back for now. Mason is expected to see a heavy workload on Sunday. The expectation is that Scott will be the change-of-pace back. The 26-year-old hasn't seen a carry through the first two games, so there's not much to judge here. He could be worth a stash if he actually does well this weekend.

Zavier Scott Could Be On Week 3 Streaming Radar

The Minnesota Vikings' injury issues at running back could see former undrafted rookie Zavier Scott thrust into Minnesota's RB2 role for the team's Week 3 game against Cincinnati. Starting running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) left the Vikings' loss to Atlanta on Sunday, and reserve running back Ty Chandler (knee) is on injured reserve after being hurt on a kickoff in Week 1. That would leave Scott as the next man up to get carries behind Jordan Mason, who figures to be the clear lead back in the event Jones misses any time. Even so, Scott would be a desperation play in deeper leagues for the Vikings, who have been a mess for most of this season.

Zavier Scott Deemed Out for Season Opener

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott (ankle) has officially been ruled out for his team's road tilt with the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. The former undrafted free agent picked up an ankle injury in the Vikes' preseason finale and did not log even a limited practice session ahead of their regular season opener. It's unfortunate timing for Scott, who flashed as a pass-catcher this summer and might have challenged to be Minnesota's third option out of the backfield. Teammates Aaron Jones Sr. and Jordan Mason figure to handle the bulk of the running back opportunities on Monday night, with Ty Chandler potentially rotating in for a few touches behind them.

Zavier Scott Impressive Again

Minnesota Vikings running back Zavier Scott turned in another quality performance on Saturday against New England, accumulating 44 receiving yards on three catches to go with 28 yards on 10 carries. While the former undrafted rookie didn't find much room on the ground, he once again proved dangerous with the ball in his hands as a pass catcher. After an uninspiring day from incumbent RB3 Ty Chandler, Scott looks to be making a serious case to be the third option out of the Minnesota backfield.
