Twins Place Byron Buxton on Injured List With Hip Impingement

The Minnesota Twins announced on Wednesday that they placed outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) on the 10-day injured list due to a right-hip impingement and recalled infielder Tristan Gray from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Buxton will head back to the IL for the second time in the last three weeks due to a hip injury that has been bugging him since the end of June. The 32-year-old veteran had stayed healthy up until then, but there's now concern, given his lengthy injury history, that he may not be able to help fantasy managers much the rest of the way. Luke Keaschall made the start in center field for the Twins on Wednesday, but Alan Roden could also see playing time in place of Buxton for however long he's sidelined this time around. Buxton hit a career-high 35 home runs, drove in 83 runs, and stole 24 bases in a resurgent 2025 campaign, and he's been a strong source of power again in fantasy until recently, slashing .263/.320/.544 with an .864 OPS, 25 home runs, 45 RBI, 57 runs scored, and seven steals in 82 games across 362 plate appearances. Buxton should be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues with hopes he can return to his pre-injury form to close out 2026.

Byron Buxton Remains Out With Hip Injury on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) is not in the team's starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the division-rival Kansas City Royals, per MLB.com. Buxton will unsurprisingly sit out after leaving Tuesday's contest early with soreness in his right hip, an injury that recently landed the veteran center fielder on the injured list. It's uncertain if this new injury is serious enough to send Buxton back to the IL, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. His next chance to return will be for Thursday's series finale against KC at Target Field. Luke Keaschall is starting in center field and will bat eighth on Wednesday against Royals right-hander Randy Dobnak. The 32-year-old Buxton had managed to stay mostly healthy in 2026 up until recently. The three-time All-Star has hit .263/.320/.544 with an .864 OPS, 25 home runs, 45 RBI, 57 runs, and seven steals in 82 games and 362 plate appearances after a resurgent 2025 campaign that saw him hit a career-high 35 long balls in 126 games. Buxton has played in just nine games in July and has hit .207 (6-for-29), and he might finally be wearing down.

Byron Buxton Exits Early on Tuesday Due to Hip Soreness

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) exited early from his team's game against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday due to right-hip soreness, according to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Buxton was hitless in two at-bats before being removed from the contest. Injuries have been a persistent problem in Buxton's career, as he's reached 400 plate appearances just twice in 11 MLB seasons (not including 2026). While he's largely been able to stay on the field so far this year, Buxton has already logged one stint on the injured list due to hip issues and now could be ticketed for a second. The 32-year-old remains a highly productive player when healthy, as he's hit .263/.320/.544 with 25 home runs, 45 RBI, 57 runs scored, and seven stolen bases across 362 plate appearances in 2026. If Buxton misses time, Twins outfielders Austin Martin and Alan Roden could both be in line for an increase in playing time.

Byron Buxton Coming Off the Injured List on Monday

The Minnesota Twins are reinstating outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) from the 10-day injured list on Monday and have optioned second baseman Tristan Gray to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. The Twins haven't announced their starting lineup for Monday's contest on the road against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Tanner Bibee, but Buxton should be in there as at least the designated hitter. Buxton will return to the Twins after missing almost two weeks with a right-hip injury. He might be a little rusty at the plate without going on a minor-league rehab assignment, but he shouldn't be on any waiver wires while in the midst of another strong season in Minnesota. The 32-year-old former second overall pick in 2012 isn't running like he did last year, but he is returning to a strong .271/.328/.575 slash line with a .904 OPS, 25 home runs, 45 RBI, 57 runs, and seven stolen bases in his 306 at-bats in 2026. Buxton is hitting .154 in 13 career at-bats against Bibee, but he also has an .829 OPS with two solo home runs.

Byron Buxton Could Return for Series Against Guardians

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) appears to be on track to be activated from the 10-day injured list for the series against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians that starts on Monday and runs through Thursday, according to Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Buxton did defensive drills with outfield coach Grady Sizemore on Saturday and has been hitting for a few days. The Twins could really use Buxton's bat back in their starting lineup as they push to stay in contention in the American League as the trade deadline approaches. Before his hip injury, the three-time All-Star was having another fantastic season at the plate, slashing .271/.328/.575 with a .904 OPS, 25 home runs, 45 RBI, 57 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in 75 games and 335 plate appearances. Buxton is unlikely to return to the 20-steal mark in 2026, but his power has been real after hitting a career-high 35 dingers in 126 games a year ago. He has been a must-start once again in fantasy lineups in 2026 and shouldn't be floating around on any waiver wires with his return from the IL looming.

Byron Buxton Heading to Injured List With Hip Injury

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) is going on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a hip impingement, according to Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. Buxton has been bothered by a right-hip injury recently, and he'll land on the IL after aggravating it in Sunday's series finale against the New York Yankees. It's probably the best timing for Buxton to land on the shelf with the All-Star break coming next week, but it remains to be seen if the veteran outfielder will be ready to rejoin Minnesota's major-league roster to start the second half of the season on Friday, July 17. Ryan Kreidler has been starting in center field for the Twins when Buxton has been unavailable, so he should continue to see most of the playing time for Minnesota. Buxton, a 32-year-old two-time All-Star and former Silver Slugger winner, doesn't run as much at this point in his career, but his power stroke has aged nicely. He had a career-best 35 long balls while recording 83 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 126 games last year, and he already has 25 homers and 45 RBI in 75 games in 2026. Buxton must be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues while he rehabs his bothersome hip.

Byron Buxton Aggravates Hip Injury, Pulled Early on Sunday

The Minnesota Twins said that outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) was removed from Sunday's series finale early in New York against the Yankees due to a "re-aggravation of a prior hip injury," according to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic. Buxton had a hit in his only plate appearance on the day and was replaced in center field by Kyler Fedko. The 32-year-old could have injured his hip during his stolen base attempt in the first inning. Buxton missed four games earlier this week due to a hip impingement but had returned to the starting lineup for Saturday's contest at Yankee Stadium. It's unclear how serious the injury is, but given Buxton's lengthy injury history, it would not be a surprise to see him land on the 10-day injured list to give him an extended break during the upcoming All-Star break from July 13-16. If he's just day-to-day, Buxton's next chance to play will come on Tuesday against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians after a scheduled day off on Monday. The two-time All-Star doesn't run much these days, but his resurgence in power the last two years has made him fantasy relevant in all leagues. Buxton has hit 25 homers in 74 games in 2026 after clubbing 35, driving in 83 runs, and stealing 24 bases in 126 games in 2025.

Byron Buxton Back From Hip Injury on Saturday

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) is starting in center field and is batting second in his return to the lineup for Saturday's Fourth of July matchup on the road in the Bronx against the New York Yankees and right-hander Brendan Beck, according to MLB.com. A hip impingement kept Buxton out of the starting lineup for each of the last four games, but he's feeling better now and will return to the starting nine against a pitcher whom he has never faced. The 32-year-old veteran and two-time All-Star has stayed relatively healthy (for his standards) in 2026 and has been a must-start in all fantasy leagues, as he'll carry a .268/.325/.573 slash line with an .898 OPS, 25 home runs, 43 RBI, 56 runs scored, and seven stolen bases into Saturday's contest at Yankee Stadium. In 23 games (100 plate appearances) in June, Buxton went 27-for-94 (.287) with eight round-trippers, five doubles, 16 RBI, 16 runs scored, and three stolen bases. Get him back into your starting fantasy lineups for the holiday weekend.

Byron Buxton to Miss Fourth Straight Game

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the New York Yankees. This marks the fourth straight game that Buxton has missed due to a hip impingement issue. The Twins had an off day on Thursday and were hopeful Buxton could return here, but he'll remain out at least one more game. For now, Buxton should be considered day-to-day, but he could end up on the Injured List if he doesn't improve at all during the weekend. Ryan Kreidler will cover center field and bat seventh against right-hander Gerrit Cole on Friday.

Byron Buxton Still Sidelined With Hip Impingement

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) remains absent from the starting lineup for Wednesday's tilt against the hosting Houston Astros at Daikin Park due to a hip injury, according to MLB.com. Ryan Kreidler is making another start in center field for the Twins and will bat seventh versus Astros right-hander Tatsuya Imai. Buxton is officially day-to-day with a right-hip impingement, and his next chance to rejoin the starting nine will come in Friday's series opener in the Bronx against the New York Yankees after the Twins are off on Thursday. The Twins and fantasy managers are definitely keeping their fingers crossed that the 32-year-old two-time All-Star won't need a stint on the injured list at the very end of the first half of the season. Buxton has a long injury history in his 11 years in the majors, but he's stayed healthy in 2026 and has been marvelous with a .268/.325/.573 slash line, .898 OPS, 25 home runs, 43 RBI, 56 runs, and seven steals in 73 games played after clubbing a career-high 35 homers and driving in 83 with 24 steals in 126 games in 2025. Check back on Buxton's status on Friday.
