Is Cooper Pratt's Recent Surge Enough to Earn MLB Debut?

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt has been making his case for a major league debut over the last couple of weeks, going 17-for-56 (.304) over his last 14 games with three doubles, four home runs, three steals, and nearly as many walks (nine) as strikeouts (11) during that time. For the season, the Brewers' fourth-ranked prospect is slashing .236/.355/.382 with five home runs, 12 steals, and an impressive 28:29 BB:K through 43 games with the Sounds. Despite being more of a hit-over-power bat, the 6-foot-4 slugger is pacing to set a new career high in home runs (eight in '25 and '24), and his ability to steal bases continues to be an asset. David Hamilton (.196/.260/.239 in May) and Joey Ortiz (.191/.298/.298 in May) are holding down short in the majors, but their futility and Pratt's recent surge could be enough reason for the club to award him with an MLB debut soon. The former sixth-rounder received an eight-year, $50.75 million contract in the offseason, so the team clearly sees him as part of their future, and with his ability to make contact and steal bases, the 21-year-old could be an intriguing fantasy asset. Fantasy managers should put him on the redraft radar, and he could become a stash option in deeper leagues if he continues to show development.

Can Cooper Pratt Make his MLB Debut in 2026?

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Cooper Pratt is currently ranked as MLB.com's No. 66 overall prospect and could make his MLB debut in the second half. Even though he will likely have to compete with fellow Triple-A prospect Jett Williams for a role on the MLB roster, Pratt could be called upon to reach the major leagues first. Pratt joined the Brewers in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft and has quickly progressed through their system. During the 2025 campaign, the infielder spent his entire season with Double-A and posted a .238/.343/.348 line with a .691 OPS. During these 120 games, Pratt had 22 doubles, eight home runs, and swiped 31 bases. So far, during his first 39 games at Triple-A, Pratt has held a similar .228 AVG but has continued to show high-end speed, stealing 11 bags and adding another five long balls. If Pratt can continue to make consistent contact at the plate, he could surpass Williams and debut first. For now, he is a viable stash target in deeper 12+ team leagues looking for speed upside.

Brewers Add Cooper Pratt to 40-Man Roster

The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Friday that they added infield prospect Cooper Pratt to the 40-man roster and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville. In a corresponding move, outfielder Steward Berroa was designated for assignment. The move comes after the Brewers signed the 21-year-old shortstop to an eight-year, $50 million contract extension before Pratt has even stepped foot on a major-league field. Per MLB.com, Pratt is Milwaukee's fourth-ranked prospect. He's getting his first taste of Triple-A to start the 2026 season, and he has gone 4-for-15 (.267) in the early going with an RBI and a stolen base in three games at Nashville. Last year in 120 games at Double-A Biloxi, Pratt slashed .238/.343/.348 with eight home runs, 62 RBI, 71 runs scored, and 31 stolen bases in 524 plate appearances. His glove is already major-league ready, and so is his speed, but the Brewers probably would like to see more development offensively before they officially call him up to the big leagues. Still, if he tears Triple-A up in the first half of the season, Pratt could be a big-leaguer later this year.

Brewers Finalizing Eight-Year Deal for Cooper Pratt

The Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of finalizing an eight-year deal for just more than $50 million with 21-year-old prized shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt, who had not played above Double-A until this year, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports. The deal will include two option years for roughly $15 million per season. Per MLB Pipeline, Pratt is considered the Brewers' No. 4 prospect. Pratt isn't considered a top-10 prospect at the shortstop position going into the 2026 season, but he could be up in the big leagues sooner than later after this massive deal for an unproven commodity. Milwaukee did something similar with outfielder Jackson Chourio before he even had stepped foot on a major-league field. Pratt hit .238/.343/.348 with eight home runs and 31 steals in 120 games with Double-A Biloxi last year. He can run and has 15-20 homer power eventually at the next level. Pratt has come up in the system as a shortstop, but his future in Milwaukee might be at the hot corner, with top prospect Jesus Made considered the future of the franchise at the 6.

Cooper Pratt to Attend Big-League Spring Training

The Milwaukee Brewers have invited shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt to big-league camp. Pratt is currently considered the No. 53 overall prospect on MLB.com and the No. 3-ranked prospect in the Milwaukee system. Pratt joined the Brewers in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft but has progressed through the minor leagues fairly quickly. After a brief stint in the Arizona Complex League in 2023, Pratt would spend the 2024 season with Low-A and High-A. Through 96 games, Pratt posted a .277/.362/.406 line with 15 doubles, eight home runs, and 25 stolen bases. In 2025, the Magnolia Heights HS product would spend the entire season with Double-A Biloxi, where he posted a .238/.343/.348 line with eight home runs and 31 stolen bases. Managers should closely monitor his development in camp, as he could begin the season at Triple-A.

Cooper Pratt Doubles Twice, Drives in Three on Tuesday

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt smacked a pair of doubles and hit a sacrifice fly in five plate appearances on Tuesday for Double-A Biloxi, driving in three runs and scoring once in the contest. The 20-year-old has caught fire over the last seven games, going 11-for-22 (.500) with three doubles, seven RBI, eight runs scored, two steals, and a 6:3 BB:K. The outburst has pushed his batting average to a more respectable .249, and thanks to a 10.2 percent walk rate, he's posting a solid .341 OBP. The Brewers' third-ranked prospect also has a better-than-average strikeout rate of 14.9 percent, which should eventually give the Brewers some confidence to give him some run at Triple-A later this year, as long as he continues to hit.

Cooper Pratt Records Three-Hit Game, Swipes Two Bags

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and stole two bases on Sunday for Double-A Biloxi. After slashing .265/.346/.404 over his first 35 games, the 20-year-old went into a 7-for-59 (.119) funk over his next 16 contests. The 6-foot-3 slugger is now slashing .231/.314/.342 for the year after his three-hit game, with 10 doubles, four home runs, and 12 steals. The Brewers will likely want to see a continuation of Sunday's performance for a while before considering pushing him to Triple-A, and Milwaukee's third-ranked prospect, who has solid all-around tools, has an MLB ETA of 2027 per MLB.com.

Cooper Pratt Hits First Double-A Home Run

Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Cooper Pratt went 2-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base during Tuesday's contest. This was Pratt's first round-tripper and stolen base at the Double-A level. Through his first three games at Double-A, Pratt went 2-for-12 with no extra base hits. However, on Tuesday, he was able to post his first multi-hit game at the level. Last summer, Pratt spent most of his time with Low-A before moving up to High-A late in the season. The former sixth-round selection held a strong .295/.394/.395 line with Low-A but saw his production decline with High-A, as he held a .221/.258/.442 line. However, the team still opted for Pratt to open the campaign at the Double-A level. If he continues to perform well, he could push for a second-half Triple-A debut.

Cooper Pratt Starting Season With Double-A Biloxi

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt will begin the season with Double-A Biloxi. The Brewers drafted the 20-year-old in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft. Later that summer, Pratt received a brief taste in the Arizona Complex League where he held a strong .326/.424/.444 slash line across 12 contests. He opened the 2024 campaign at Low-A, where he spent most of the season. In a 73 game-stint, Pratt posted a .295/.394/.395 line with 11 doubles, three triples, and three home runs. During this stint, he swiped 25 bags and held a 38:57 BB:K. He then earned a 23-game taste of High-A, posting a modest .221 AVG. However, Pratt has shown enough to earn a vote of confidence to open the campaign just one step away from the top of the minor leagues.

Cooper Pratt Goes Deep For High-A Wisconsin

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt blasted a home run for High-A Wisconsin on Wednesday. The Brewers' No. 2 prospect connected on his third homer of the season for Wisconsin and his sixth homer overall. In 19 games at High-A, Pratt is hitting .232/.257/.420 with three homers and six RBI. The 20-year-old has 28 total stolen bases on the season across two levels. At 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, Pratt projects as an athletic shortstop who can contribute across all five fantasy categories. He's been limited this season by a finger injury but has produced when available. He's taken a little bit to adjust to High-A with the batting average but that is to be expected for such a young player. He still has a lot of development left but could be a future mainstay at shortstop for the Brewers.
