David Festa Shut Down for the Season

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher David Festa (shoulder) will be shut down for the rest of the 2025 season. Festa reported having returned discomfort in his shoulder following a rehab start on Thursday. The team has scheduled Festa to visit with a specialist over the next week. Regardless of that visit, Festa won't return to the mound in 2025. The team wants to make sure Festa doesn't require any surgeries that could impact his availability for the 2026 season. He'll finish this season with a 5.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 53/19 K/BB ratio across 53.1 innings with the Twins. There should be another update on his status in the coming days.

David Festa Will Make a Rehab Start Thursday

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher David Festa (shoulder) has been out since July 23 with right shoulder inflammation, but he's working his way back to the Twins' rotation and will make a rehab start Thursday in St. Paul. The 25-year-old prospect is only 3-4 in 11 games with the Twins this season, posting a 5.40 ERA and 4.87 FIP, but he has dominated in the minors the last couple of years, including going 2-1 with a 2.83 ERA and 2.47 FIP in 28 2/3 innings in Triple-A this season. Festa has excellent long-term potential as part of the Twins' next young wave of starting pitchers, so getting him some experience down the stretch could be very important to his role next year. While his overall numbers aren't great, he has had several very effective outings. He could be usable as a DFS value play or streaming option once he returns, so keep an eye on his recovery.

David Festa to Throw Live Batting Practice on Saturday

Minnesota Twins right-hander David Festa (shoulder) will throw two simulated innings of live batting practice with Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday. Assuming Festa gets through that session unscathed, he'll be ready to start a rehab assignment. Festa has been on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation since July 22, so he'll need time to ramp back up in the minors before making a late-season return. The 25-year-old has started in 10 of 11 appearances in 2025 and gone 3-4 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and 53:19 K:BB in 53 1/3 innings.

David Festa to Miss "Several Weeks"

Minnesota Twins right-hander David Festa (shoulder) will miss "several weeks" as a result of shoulder inflammation, according to Bobby Nightengale of the Minnesota Star Tribune. In his most recent start on July 21, Festa gave up four runs on four hits (including three homers) over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Twins placed Festa on the 15-day injured list the next day, and he has received two anti-inflammatory injections in his shoulder since then. The 25-year-old has made 11 appearances (10 starts) and gone 3-4 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and 53:19 K:BB across 53 1/3 frames this season.

David Festa Placed on Injured List With Shoulder Inflammation

Minnesota Twins right-hander David Festa (shoulder) is being placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with right-shoulder inflammation, and Travis Adams has been recalled from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move, per Dan Hayes of The Athletic. It could be why Festa struggled so much in his last start on Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, when he allowed four runs and three long balls in his 5 1/3 innings of work. It's too soon to know if the 25-year-old will be ready to return from the IL when he's eligible for activation on Aug. 6. The former 13th-round pick is in just his second year in the big leagues and has posted a 5.40 ERA (4.84 FIP) and 1.27 WHIP with 53 strikeouts and 19 walks in 53 1/3 innings over his 11 outings (10 starts) for the Twins in 2025. It's unclear who will replace Festa in Minnesota's starting rotation.

David Festa Looks Sharp on Friday

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher David Festa bounced back nicely on the mound during Friday's outing against the Detroit Tigers. Festa looked like a completely different pitcher as he tossed arguably his best outing of the season. The right-hander threw 5 scoreless innings, allowing two hits, and striking out six batters in the win. It has been an ugly start to the season for Festa who holds a 5.40 ERA, 1.42 WHIP across 36.2 innings of work. He'll look to keep the good times rolling against the Miami Marlins next week. Festa has some low-end streaming value for that one.

David Festa Allows Eight Runs in Loss

Minnesota Twins right-hander David Festa allowed six hits and eight earned runs across 3 2/3 innings in his loss to the Athletics on Thursday. Festa struck out six batters and allowed two walks. The 25-year-old ran into trouble early as he allowed an RBI single to Brent Rooker and a three-run shot to infielder Max Muncy in the opening frame. In the third, he allowed two solo shots, one to Wilson and the other to first baseman Tyler Soderstrom. Festa replaced right-hander Pablo Lopez (hamstring) in the rotation, who recently hit the 15-day IL. Fantasy managers should expect Festa to remain in the rotation for the time being. However, if he continues to struggle, Simeon Woods Richardson could get the call from Triple-A St. Paul. Through his first 81 MLB frames, Festa has posted a 5.00 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. Given his struggles, he should only be viewed as a streaming option in deeper formats.

David Festa Starting on Thursday for Twins

Minnesota Twins right-hander David Festa has been recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to make the start in Thursday's series finale in Sacramento against the Athletics, according to The Athletic's Dan Hayes. And with right-hander Pablo Lopez (shoulder) expected to miss eight to 12 weeks, Festa will now have the opportunity to stick in the big-league starting rotation for a while if he pitches well. Fantasy managers searching for rotation help in deeper leagues should run to the waiver wire and add the 25-year-old, who had 15 strikeouts and a 1.38 ERA in 13 innings over his first three starts for the Twins in 2025. He was sent down to the minors to try and get more comfortable adding a sinker to his arsenal. Since returning from biceps/shoulder inflammation on May 23, Festa had 12 K's and allowed an earned run in 8 2/3 innings.

David Festa Optioned To Triple-A

The Minnesota Twins have optioned right-handed pitcher David Festa to Triple-A St. Paul. Festa was promoted to the majors to fill Pablo Lopez's rotation spot. However, with Lopez set to return to action this weekend, Festa will return to the top level of the minor leagues. Through three starts this season (13 innings), Festa held a 1.38 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP. During this minor stint, Festa struck out 15 batters and served up five walks. Last summer, the Seton Hall product made his MLB debut and posted a modest 4.90 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP across 64 1/3 innings of work. Fantasy managers should expect Festa to return to the big leagues when Minnesota needs additional depth in its rotation. However, given his modest showing, he is only worth holding onto in deeper AL-only redraft formats.

David Festa Set To Make Another Start On Wednesday

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher David Festa is expected to make another start on Wednesday against the New York Mets. With Pablo Lopez (hamstring) hitting the 15-day injured list, the Twins promoted Festa from Triple-A St. Paul to fill his spot in the rotation. Festa performed well in his season debut on Friday against the Detroit Tigers as he tossed four 2/3 innings of one-run ball (unearned run). He allowed three hits and held a 1:4 BB:K. Earlier in the season at Triple-A, Festa logged eight 1/3 innings and posted a modest 5.40 ERA with a 1.85 WHIP. Last season, Festa made his MLB debut and flashed decent upside at times as he posted a 4.90 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP across 64 1/3 innings. He struck out 77 batters and allowed 23 free passes. If Festa were to struggle during his stint in the majors, fellow young right-hander Zebby Matthews could be in the mix to join the Minnesota rotation. For now, Festa is worth adding in all 12+ team formats given his strikeout upside.
