Hoy Park News
Oakland Athletics utility man Hoy Park was told on Tuesday that he will start the season with Triple-A Las Vegas, per Athletics Nation's Connor Ashford. The 27-year-old signed a minor-league deal this off-season and put forth a strong showing, batting .477 with one home run and two stolen bases in 44 spring at-bats. Park has spent little time in the big leagues throughout his career and now has even further to go to become fantasy-relevant.
The Oakland Athletics signed infielder Hoy Park to a minor-league deal on Monday. Park spent all of the 2023 season at Triple-A Gwinnett in the Atlanta Braves organization and hit .262/.385/.379 with six home runs, 15 doubles, two triples, 42 RBI, 16 stolen bases and 49 runs scored in 101 games played. The 27-year-old South Korean left-handed hitter played with the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates in 2021 and 2022 and hit .201 (36-for-179) with five homers and 20 RBI in 68 games played. Park will mostly likely begin the 2024 campaign at Triple-A Las Vegas, but he has as good a chance as any to resurface in the majors at some point next season with the rebuilding A's.
The Atlanta Braves designated infielder Hoy Park for assignment on Wednesday to make room on the 40-man roster for outfielder Eli White, who was acquired in a trade from the Texas Rangers. Park has been designated for assignment three times this offseason, so there's no telling where he'll land next. The 26-year-old spent most of his time at Triple-A Indianapolis in 2022, but he did play in 23 games for the Pirates, hitting .216/.276/.373 with two home runs, six RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base in 60 plate appearances. On the farm, he didn't hit much better, slashing .225/.332/.354 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 14 stolen bases. Wherever he lands, he'll serve as organizational infield depth.
