Jake Bauers, Bryse Wilson Become Free Agents

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers and right-hander Bryse Wilson both cleared waivers on Monday and were outrighted to Triple-A Nashville. Both Bauers and Wilson were arbitration-eligible but will become free agents after being cast off the team's 40-man roster. Bauers matched his previous career-high of 12 home runs and also drove in 43 and stole a career-high 13 bases in 116 games in 2024 in his first year in Milwaukee, but he also hit just .199 with a .301 on-base percentage, .361 slugging percentage and below-average .662 OPS. He's now hit only .208 in five big-league seasons with five different teams. Wilson, 26, served as a swingman for Milwaukee this year, going 5-4 with a 4.04 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with a career-high 82 K's and 31 walks in 104 2/3 frames over his 34 outings (nine starts).

Jake Bauers Smacks Tiebreaking Homer In Game 3 Loss

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers delivered a clutch pinch-hit solo home run in the seventh inning of Game 3 in the Wild Card series against the New York Mets on Thursday. Bauers homer put the Crew in the lead, but unfortunately they could not hold on and ended up losing 4-2. Bauers finished the postseason 2-for-6 with a homer and an RBI. He will have a good chance to make the Brewers roster out of Spring Training next year if he remains with the team, but he would likely be a platoon option at best.

Jake Bauers Hits Grand Slam Wednesday

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers had a huge game in his team's 6-5 win over the Texas Rangers in 10 innings on Wednesday. Bauers went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and a walk to help power the Brewers to the win. The veteran first baseman gave the Brewers a 4-1 lead in the third inning with his grand slam, a monster shot that traveled 444 feet and had an exit velocity of 108 MPH. Overall, Bauers is hitting .219 with seven homers, 23 runs, 32 RBI, and seven steals across 169 at-bats for the Brewers this season.

Jake Bauers Continues Hit Streak On Monday

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers increased his hit streak to four games on Monday by knocking a single and a grand slam. On the season, the 28-year-old has a solid .244/.326/.476 line with four home runs, four stolen bases, and 21 RBI. Since the start of May, he has been riding an impressive .346/.500/.727 line with a strong 5:9 BB:K ratio. Bauers has only been in the lineup against right-handed pitchers so far this season which does hinder his fantasy value. Nonetheless, in deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats, fantasy managers looking for a strong source of power should consider adding Bauers to their team.

Brewers Acquire Jake Bauers From Yankees

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired first baseman/outfielder Jake Bauers from the New York Yankees on Friday in exchange for outfielders Jace Avina and Brian Sanchez. Bauers' versatility in the outfield and at first base is nice, but he just hasn't done much offensively in his four major-league seasons to this point with the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians, Seattle Mariners and Yankees, slashing .211/.302/.361 with 39 home runs, 140 RBI and 18 stolen bases in 412 games played. In 84 games in pinstripes in 2023, he hit just .202 (49-for-242) with a career-high-tying 12 homers, 15 doubles, 30 RBI, three stolen bases and 28 runs scored in 272 plate appearances. The left-handed-hitting 28-year-old will attempt to win the majority of playing time at first base from Rowdy Tellez in Milwaukee in 2024.

Jake Bauers Activated And Starting Sunday

The New York Yankees activated outfielders Jake Bauers (shoulder) and Greg Allen (hip) from the 10-day injured list on Sunday and optioned infielder/outfielder Franchy Cordero to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Bauers is immediately back in the team's starting lineup on Sunday to face right-hander Jordan Lyles and the Kansas City Royals. He's playing right field and batting leadoff. The 27-year-old went 7-for-9 with two home runs and two doubles during three minor-league rehab games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and Sunday will be his first big-league game since going on the injured list on July 6 with a left rotator-cuff inflammation. The left-handed hitter should see time against right-handers, at least until Aaron Judge (toe) returns from his injury.

Jake Bauers Joins Triple-A Club

New York Yankees outfielder Jake Bauers (shoulder) joined Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday as he continues to work back from a left rotator-cuff contusion. The 27-year-old plans to work out in the team's facility for a couple of days before he starts a rehab assignment on Friday. Before his injury in early July, Bauers was putting up his best offensive campaign, slashing .224/.312/.470 with seven homers, 18 runs, 19 RBI, and two steals over 49 games. Still, fantasy managers should only stash the former seventh-round selection in deeper formats, as he likely won't be back until August.

Jake Bauers Goes On Injured List, Franchy Cordero Called Up

The New York Yankees placed outfielder Jake Bauers (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 6) on Friday with a left rotator-cuff contusion and recalled infielder/outfielder Franchy Cordero from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. It's unknown how long Bauers will be out after injuring his left shoulder while diving for a ball in the outfield on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was seeing regular playing time in right field with Aaron Judge (toe) out and was hitting .224 with seven homers in 134 at-bats. Cordero could now see decent playing time in right for the Yanks until Judge is able to return. He's starting in right and batting ninth on Friday against Chicago Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon.

Jake Bauers Sitting On Thursday With Shoulder Injury

New York Yankees outfielder Jake Bauers (shoulder) was held out of Thursday's lineup versus the Baltimore Orioles with a shoulder problem. The 27-year-old is set to undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the damage after he tried to make a diving catch during Wednesday's game. Bauer was able to remain in the contest, but ultimately couldn't get into Thursday's lineup. Manager Aaron Boone didn't shut down the possibility of Bauers being available off the bench for this one, so it may not be a lengthy absence. Harrison Bader returns to action on Thursday to patrol center field and bat cleanup, shifting Isiah Kiner-Falefa to left while he hits eighth vs. Kyle Bradish.

Jake Bauers Back In Wednesday's Lineup

New York Yankees outfielder Jake Bauers (knee) is back in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday against the Cleveland Guardians, starting in right field and batting seventh against right-hander Shane Bieber. A right-knee injury had kept Bauers out of action for the last three days, but he's back in there on Wednesday in a tough matchup against Cleveland's ace. The 27-year-old has played in just one game in New York this year, but his first plate appearance on Wednesday will be his first of the year. In 21 games at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Bauers went 21-for-69 (.304) with five doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 20 RBI and five steals. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues that are looking for power in the short term should consider Bauers while Aaron Judge (hip) is on the injured list.
