Kerry Carpenter Activated and Starting on Sunday

The Detroit Tigers activated outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Sunday and optioned infielder Trey Sweeney to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Carpenter is starting in right field and batting third in his return for Sunday's series finale against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Max Scherzer. Now that the 27-year-old is back from a three-week stay on the injured list due to a strained right hamstring, he should play regularly for the Tigers in the outfield or at designated hitter. The left-handed hitter will return to a .257/.285/.494 slash line with 16 home runs, 32 RBI, 40 runs and one stolen base for the first-place Tigers. Carpenter has been injury-prone and has his issues against left-handed pitchers, but there's no disputing his power or the fact that he hits the ball pretty hard when he makes contact.

Kerry Carpenter Beginning Rehab Assignment on Tuesday

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Toledo. Carpenter has been sidelined since the beginning of July due to a right hamstring strain. He has been ramping up his activities lately and appears ready to get back into game action. He figures to need a few rehab contests before rejoining the Tigers. Fantasy managers might be able to get Carpenter back in their lineups by this weekend.

Kerry Carpenter Runs at Full Speed, Set for Rehab Assignment

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) did running drills at full speed on Monday at Comerica Park, and his next step will be going on a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo, according to the Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold. "Everything is going really well," manager A.J. Hinch said. Carpenter is expected to join Toledo for their series against Triple-A Indianapolis in the next two days. Depending on how the 27-year-old feels in games in the minors, it's possible that he could come off the injured list and rejoin the big-league squad for this weekend's series against the Toronto Blue Jays, which starts on Thursday. Carpenter hasn't played since June 29, though, so it's likely we won't see him back with the Tigers until sometime next week. When he's ready, Carpenter will return to being an everyday player for the first-place Tigers.

Kerry Carpenter Running, Hitting, Fielding as he Rehabs

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) is completing a return to play running progression and is also hitting a completing defensive drills on a daily basis, according to the Detroit Free Press' Evan Petzold. Carpenter was eligible to come off the 10-day injured list last Friday, but he's still rehabbing and was not activated prior to the start of the second half of the season on Friday, July 18. The 27-year-old landed on the IL back on July 2 with a right-hamstring strain. Fantasy managers should keep him stashed everywhere, as Carpenter will be a lineup regular when he returns to the big-league roster. The former 19th-round selection in 2019 is four home runs shy of tying his career high of 20 that he set in 2023 and is also slashing .257/.285/.494 with a career-low .780 OPS, 32 RBI and 40 runs scored in 78 games this year.

Kerry Carpenter Shelved with Hamstring Issue

MLive Media Group's Evan Woodbery reports that the Detroit Tigers have placed outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Infielder Trey Sweeney was recalled from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. The Virginia Tech product was pulled early from the team's matchup with the Minnesota Twins a few days ago after he appeared to tweak his hamstring leaving the batter's box. Initially, he was deemed day-to-day, but an MRI revealed more damage than expected. Carpenter will be eligible to return before the All-Star break, but it wouldn't be surprising for him to do so afterward. Teammate Zach McKinstry should benefit from increased playing time in the outfield in the meantime.

Kerry Carpenter to Undergo MRI on Hamstring

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) left the team's 3-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday with a right hamstring injury. Carpenter will undergo an MRI on Monday, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. For his part, Carpenter is optimistic that it's not a serious problem. "It feels similar to the last time I had a little issue with it," he said. "The staff here has done a great job of getting me back pretty quickly. We'll see how it goes, but I think we're all pretty optimistic about it." Carpenter tweaked his hamstring in late April and has played through it without requiring a trip to the 10-day injured list. Before exiting Sunday, Carpenter starred with a home run, a triple, and two RBI in a 2-for-3 night. The 27-year-old is batting .257/.285/.494 with 16 homers, 32 RBI, and 40 runs scored over 280 plate appearances.

Kerry Carpenter Leaves Game with Apparent Hamstring Injury

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) left Sunday's 3-0 victory over the Twins in what is likely a hamstring injury, reports Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. He pulled into third base injured after hitting an RBI triple in the fifth inning, and was immediately removed by a pinch runner. He was already playing through a sore hamstring and was wearing a compression sleeve, so it's very possible that he injured it further. The slugger was on his way to having a huge day at the plate, as he was 2-for-3 with a home run and triple. Expect further updates on the extent of his injury after he undergoes further tests after the game.

Kerry Carpenter Not Expected to Miss Time

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) made an early exit from Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Carpenter was taken out of the game following a double in the seventh inning. Afterwards, Carpenter admitted that he's still battling through hamstring tightness. That being said, the Tigers are expected to be cautious with Carpenter going forward. The left-handed slugger said he's not expected to miss any action because of the issue. It doesn't appear to be impacting him at the plate at all. Carpenter went 3-for-4 with two doubles during Sunday's win over Chicago.

Kerry Carpenter Returns on Thursday

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the division-rival Chicago White Sox, serving as the designated hitter and batting third against White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. Carpenter returns quickly to the lineup after being scratched from Wednesday's game with a right-hamstring injury that turned out to be minor. The 27-year-old appeared as a pinch-hitter on Wednesday and is now back in the starting nine as the DH. Fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups. The former 19th-round selection has been injury-prone and has played in over 100 games in one of his first three seasons, but he's been productive when on the field this year with a .272 average (56-for-206) with 13 homers, 27 RBI and 35 runs scored. He's hitless in just one career at-bat against Burke.

Kerry Carpenter Scratched on Wednesday

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. It's unclear when Carpenter suffered the injury, but he has been pulled from the lineup due to hamstring tightness. Hopefully, it's only a day-to-day issue, but hamstring issues often do linger around. The Tigers should give more information on the situation soon. In the meantime, Wenceel Perez will cover right field and bat fifth versus left-hander Jared Shuster on Wednesday.
