Yolmer Sanchez Inks Minor-League Deal With The Angels
According to MLB.com, third baseman Yolmer Sanchez signed a minor-league deal with the Los Angeles Angels that includes an invite to spring training. Sanchez has not appeared in a major-league game since the 2022 campaign. Last summer, the 32-year-old spent his entire season with Triple-A Syracuse. Across 111 contests, Sanchez posted a .226/.346/.393 slash line with 23 doubles, nine home runs, and nine stolen bases. In 2023, Sanchez held a similar .236/.381/.350 line across 117 games with Triple-A Gwinnett. In his eight MLB seasons, the infielder has carried a .243/.299/.305 line. Since he has not appeared in the major leagues since 2022 and has had modest production at the Triple-A level, fantasy managers should expect Sanchez to open the season in the minor leagues.
Free-agent infielder Yolmer Sanchez signed a minor-league deal with the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Sanchez, a 30-year-old switch-hitting infielder, played in just 17 major-league games in 2022 with the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets and hit a combined .108/.214/.108 with a .322 OPS, no home runs, two RBI and one run scored in 44 plate appearances. He spent all of the 2021 season with the Braves' Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett and is likely to begin the 2023 season back there. Sanchez spent the first seven seasons of his big-league career with the Chicago White Sox, and he has a .243/.299/.355 career slash line with a .654 OPS, 32 home runs, 217 RBI, 253 runs scored and 30 stolen bases in eight seasons in the majors. He'll serve as infield depth for Atlanta.
The Boston Red Sox signed infielder Yolmer Sanchez, catcher Roldani Baldwin and first baseman Roberto Ramos to minor league deals with invites to spring training on Wednesday. Sanchez, 29, is the most intriguing of the trio. He has a solid glove but hasn't been much of a threat at the plate in his career. He didn't play at all in the majors in 2021 and played in only 11 games for the White Sox in 2020 and profiles as a long-term Triple-A depth guy for Boston or elsewhere. In seven major league seasons for the Chicago White Sox, Sanchez has slashed .245/.300/.360 with 32 home runs, 215 RBI, 30 stolen bases and 252 runs scored in 657 games played.
The Baltimore Orioles designated second baseman Yolmer Sanchez for assignment on Saturday. The move occurred to make room for Adam Plutko, who the team traded for in exchange for cash considerations. The 28-year-old is a former Gold Glove winner who was expected to be the O's starting second baseman. Sanchez could remain in the organization if he goes unclaimed on waivers, but he would have little fantasy value if that were to happen. General manager Mike Elias said Sunday that Ramos Urias and Pat Valaika are the leading contenders to play second base for the O's.
Yolmer Sanchez Rejoins White Sox, Will Serve In Bench Role
Chicago White Sox infielder Yolmer Sanchez was brought up to the active roster prior to Mondays contest against Minnesota, designating Ryan Goins for assignment to clear room. Sanchez will fill the super utility role for Chicago, who doesnt have an open spot among their everyday infielders with Nick Madrigal healthy and holding down the keystone. Sanchez has been a full-time cog for the White Sox over the last three years, but his .682 combined OPS in that stretch has severely capped his fantasy appeal.
The San Francisco Giants agreed to a minor league deal with second baseman Yolmer Sanchez on Tuesday, according to a source. Sanchez turned down major league offers from other teams for a chance to earn the starting second base job in San Francisco. The switch-hitting 27-year-old hit just .252/.318/.321 with two home runs, 43 RBI and five steals in 149 games for the White Sox in 2019, and he has a career .244 average with 31 homers, 214 RBI and 30 steals in six big league seasons. Sanchez's main competition at the keystone will come from Mauricio Dubon and Donovan Solano. You can ignore him in mixed leagues, and he'd only be worth your time in NL-only leagues if he earns an everyday job.
The Chicago White Sox have placed Gold Glove second baseman Yolmer Sanchez on outright waivers. Sanchez offers versatility on defense, but his offensive struggles were enough for the White Sox to cut bait. Second base prospect Nick Madrigal has a real shot to break camp with the White Sox and would be worth a late draft pick in all formats.
Chicago White Sox third baseman Yolmer Sanchez (hand) was lifted from the third inning of Thursday's game after an incident on a pick-off attempt. While Sanchez was on first base following a single, Tigers pitcher Matthew Boyd attempted to pick him off. During the play, Sanchez dove toward the bag and his right hand was stepped on by Tigers first baseman Niko Goodrum. His hand was bleeding and he left the game with a towel wrapped around his hand as Daniel Palka came in to pinch run. The injured hand is Sanchez's throwing hand, which of course isn't good news. The White Sox should have an update on the injury later today, so stay tuned.
Chicago White Sox infielder Yolmer Sanchez (illness) has been scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox. Sanchez was reportedly sent back to the hotel after being diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. He shouldn't land on the injured list, but is considered day-to-day. Jose Rondon will draw the start at second base and bat eighth versus lefty David Price. Rondon doesn't have much upside with the bat, so he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
Chicago White Sox second baseman Yolmer Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a run scored on Thursday versus the Houston Astros. Sanchez had a double and two singles on the evening and is now hitting .235 for the season and doesnt offer much potential in all formats. Sanchez can remain on waivers.
