Miami Dolphins wide receiver Erik Ezukanma hauled in all three of his targets for 15 yards during Friday's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons. He also impressed on the ground, rushing two times for 52 yards, including a 39-yard gain on an end-around. Ezukanma, a fourth-round pick in 2022, had a strong preseason last year but played in just one regular-season game, catching one pass for three yards. Even though he'll again enter the upcoming season in a depth role behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, among others, he could deliver a little more production now that he has an entire year of NFL action on his resume.

He played the entire second half, seeing some reps with Teddy Bridgewater but primarily building a strong rapport with Skylar Thompson. He bailed the latter out by making a great adjustment to catch a 34-yard pass with just one hand. A fourth-round pick out of Texas Tech, Ezukanma should make the 53-man roster but doesn't have a clear path to fantasy relevance in 2022.

Not surprisingly, new head coach Mike McDaniel lands another YAC receiver to his arsenal. The 22-year-old is big, at 6'2 and 209 pounds, but he also has good speed. In his junior season, he logged 48 receptions for 705 yards and four touchdowns, adding 10 carries for 138 yards and an additional two scores on the ground. While it is unlikely Ezukanma will see much action behind wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, he is another peek through the lens of what the new-look Dolphins want to do on offense, which is to get the ball into the hands of playmakers quickly and set them up for mismatches. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was already one of the biggest winners of this offseason, but he continues to have every piece he could possibly want to take a step forward in 2022.
