Sam LaPorta’s Fantasy Struggles Continue Amid Lions’ Run-Heavy Approach

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta struggled in Week 9, posting just two receptions for 28 yards in the team's 24-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers. After a season-best performance last week, LaPorta fell short again, marking his third game with fewer than five PPR fantasy points and his sixth single-digit fantasy outing in eight games. Even with Jameson Williams out (PED violation), LaPorta was largely uninvolved, as the Lions continued to rely heavily on their rushing duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Despite his early-season promise, LaPorta remains a volatile option with Detroit's offense leaning on its ground game. He'll aim for a rebound in Week 10 against the Houston Texans.

Ray-Ray McCloud III  • WR  •  Falcons

Ray-Ray McCloud III Records First TD Of The Season In Week 9

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III reeled in all three of his targets in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Cowboys, gaining 28 yards and scoring his first touchdown of the season. The 28-year-old added one rush attempt for seven yards. While the touchdown saved his fantasy day, he's averaged just 3.5 targets per game over the last four contests after averaging nearly six targets per game over the first five. Unfortunately, teammate Drake London was injured on Sunday, but if he were to miss time that could lead to a couple more targets for McCloud. The other thing working in his favor is that the Falcons take on the Saints in Week 10, the team who the Clemson product saw earlier this season, catching six passes for 52 yards in that matchup. All that being said and even though the Saints have been a favorable defense for opposing wide receivers, McCloud is still likely not a preferred fantasy option in Week 10.

Jaylon Jones  • CB  •  Bears

Jaylon Jones Exits Early And Does Not Return

Chicago Bears defensive back Jalen Jones (shoulder) was forced from the team's 29-9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9 and did not return to the contest. Jones picked up a shoulder injury during the outing and was initially ruled as doubtful to return before his status was downgraded to out. He'll finish his afternoon without impacting the game's outcome, as he did not register a single statistic. With Chicago set to host the visiting New England Patriots next Sunday, the 27-year-old will turn toward improving the health of his shoulder ahead of the outing. Jones has recorded just ten tackles on the season, with all of them coming in Week 6's victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Amon-Ra St. Brown  • WR  •  Lions

Amon-Ra St. Brown Extends Scoring Streak With Strong Week 9 Showing

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown led the receiving corps in the team's 24-14 win over the Green Bay Packers, recording seven receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown. St. Brown's performance places him as a top-15 WR going into Sunday night and marks his fifth game this season with 18 or more PPR fantasy points. He also extended his touchdown streak to six consecutive games, maintaining his status as a reliable fantasy WR1. St. Brown continues to be a focal point in Detroit's passing game, providing consistency week after week. He'll look to extend his scoring streak in Week 10 when Detroit faces the Houston Texans.

Andrei Iosivas  • WR  •  Bengals

Andrei Iosivas Scores Against The Raiders

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Andrei Iosivas had only one catch for 10 yards in Sunday's win over the Raiders. However, his lone catch meant a little more, considering it resulted in a trip to the end zone. Granted, with Tee Higgins (quadriceps) sidelined, fantasy managers were expecting more from Iosivas. Still, as long as Higgins stays on the shelf, including for Thursday's AFC North clash with Baltimore, Iosivas remains in the flex conversation based on his upside alone.

Mike Gesicki  • TE  •  Bengals

Mike Gesicki Keeps It Going In Week 9

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki had five catches (six targets) for 100 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Raiders. The veteran looked good in the Week 8 loss to the Eagles, amassing seven grabs for 73 yards. Some doubted whether Gesicki could keep it going in Week 9. However, he continues to get it done, so he should remain at least a flex option in Thursday's AFC North showdown with the Ravens, especially if Tee Higgins (quadriceps) remains out.

Jahmyr Gibbs  • RB  •  Lions

Jahmyr Gibbs’ Touchdown Salvages Week 9 Fantasy Output

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs managed a solid fantasy performance in Week 9, working in tandem with backfield partner David Montgomery in the Lions' 24-14 win over the Green Bay Packers. Gibbs recorded 11 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown, along with one reception for 11 yards. The rushing touchdown saved his fantasy output, keeping him afloat in a challenging game. This marked only his second game of the season with fewer than 16 fantasy points, though his consistent involvement continues to make him a reliable option for fantasy managers. Gibbs will look to continue his productivity in Week 10 against the Houston Texans.

Ja'Marr Chase  • WR  •  Bengals

Ja'Marr Chase Stays Busy On Sunday

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase had seven catches for 43 yards in Sunday's win over the Raiders. The wideout entered this contest by finding the end zone seven times since the Monday night loss to the Washington Commanders. Although he didn't score a touchdown in this one, he still did enough to satisfy his fantasy managers. If Tee Higgins (quadriceps) remains out on Thursday night against the Ravens, Chase should continue to get more attention from Joe Burrow. But even if Higgins is back, Chase is a must-start for the divisional matchup.

David Montgomery  • RB  •  Lions

David Montgomery Held Out Of End Zone In Limited Week 9 Fantasy Showing

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery put up a modest fantasy performance in the Week 9 win over the Green Bay Packers, finishing well outside of the top 15 RBs this week. Montgomery led the team in rushing with 17 carries for 73 yards, outpacing teammate Jahmyr Gibbs, but he was held out of the end zone for only the second time this season. He contributed in the passing game with three receptions for 23 yards, pushing his total to double digits in PPR leagues. However, this week marked his second-worst fantasy performance of the season, though his steady yardage and volume still make him a reliable RB2. He'll aim to rebound in Week 10 against the Houston Texans.

Chase Brown  • RB  •  Bengals

Chase Brown Thrives Versus Vegas

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown had 120 yards off 27 carries in Sunday's win over the Raiders. He added five catches for 57 yards and a touchdown, finding the end zone off a one-yard pass from Joe Burrow in the first quarter. With Zack Moss (neck) inactive for this one, Brown had one of the best performances of his career. It's clear he's now the top option on the depth chart, so he's a must-start on Thursday night against the Ravens, regardless if Moss is back in the mix.

Joe Burrow  • QB  •  Bengals

Joe Burrow Has Another Strong Showing In Week 9

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow had a monster showing in the Week 9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The signal-caller was mediocre in the Week 8 loss to the Eagles. But he turned it around on Sunday, throwing for 251 yards and five touchdowns (one pick) off 27-for-39 passing. Without question, Burrow continues to have an MVP-caliber season, although he'll be tested on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens. Still, he remains a must-start in all fantasy formats.

Romeo Doubs  • WR  •  Packers

Romeo Doubs A Background Player In Packers’ Week 9 Loss

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs was pretty quiet in the Packers' Week 9 loss to the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions. Doubs was fourth in targets (5) for the Packers and brought in four receptions for 28 yards. Continuing to lead the team in snaps and routes each week, the Packers' third-year wide receiver is a stalwart on the field but does cede some of the target-earning and big-play ability to fellow wide receivers Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks. While Doubs is talented in his own right, he's not immune to the ebbs and flows that come with being on a team with so many talented pass-catchers. Doubs and the Packers are off on bye in Week 10, but Doubs should be considered a low-end WR3 or flex play when Green Bay heads down to face their rivals, the Chicago Bears, in Week 11.

Tucker Kraft  • TE  •  Packers

Tucker Kraft Quiet In Packers’ Week 9 Defeat

Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft blended into the background a bit as the Packers suffered defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions 24-14. Kraft has been very productive for fantasy managers this season but his Week 9 output was very quiet. With six targets on the afternoon, Kraft put up just four receptions for 34 yards. Kraft also had one rushing attempt for two yards to convert a fourth-down conversion early on in the game. With the wide array of pass-catchers on the Packers, it can be a bit easier to blend in and with the Lions pressuring quarterback Jordan Love, that's exactly what happened. Kraft and the Packers will have Week 10 off on bye, but will be back on the field in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears. For fantasy purposes, Kraft should be viewed as a low-end TE1 in that matchup.

Christian Watson  • WR  •  Packers

Christian Watson Leads Packers In Targets In Week 9

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson had an uneven game as the Packers suffered defeat at the hands of the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions 24-14. Watson led the Packers in targets with seven, only bringing in three receptions for 37 yards. In the fourth quarter, Watson added a successful two-point conversion with a catch to prop up his fantasy day a little more. It's been an up-and-down season for Watson and he's had a hard time separating from a talented group of pass-catchers in Green Bay, which limits his fantasy value. The Packers have a week off in Week 10 but against the division-rival Chicago Bears in Week 11, Watson should be a boom-or-bust flex play for fantasy.

Jared Goff  • QB  •  Lions

Jared Goff Posts Low Fantasy Output, But Efficiency Helps Secure Detroit’s Win

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff delivered a subpar fantasy outing in the team's 24-14 win over the Green Bay Packers, finishing with just 9.6 fantasy points his second-lowest total of the season and only his second game without reaching double digits. Despite the weather and a limited passing workload, Goff completed 18 of 22 passes for an efficient 81.8% completion rate. He totaled 145 yards with one touchdown and kept his streak of five straight games without an interception intact. While the game didn't yield high fantasy numbers for Goff, his consistency and ability to manage the game helped secure another win for the Lions, solidifying their spot atop both the division and conference standings. The Lions will look to keep their momentum going against the Houston Texans in Week 10.

Jayden Reed  • WR  •  Packers

Jayden Reed Leads Packers In Receptions And Yards In Week 9 Loss

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was one of the bright spots for the Packers as the team lost at home to the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions 24-14. Reed led the Packers in receptions (five) and receiving yards (113) while finishing second on the team in targets with six. Reeling in all three passes that traveled at least 20-plus yards, Reed's role was stark compared to the last couple of weeks, where he had been used in a lot of short-area throws from quarterback Jordan Love. This impressive game was great to see from his fantasy managers, but he'll have to wait to build upon that performance, as the Packers are on bye in Week 10. Reed should be considered a mid-range WR2 for fantasy when Green Bay travels to take on the division-rival Chicago Bears in Week 11.

Josh Jacobs  • RB  •  Packers

Josh Jacobs Totals 95 Rushing Yards In Week 9 Defeat

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (ankle) was questionable heading into Week 9 and was cleared to play against the Detroit Lions, where the Packers lost 24-14. Jacobs was efficient on the ground, totaling 95 rushing yards on just 13 attempts before the Packers were in catch-up mode for the sizable portion of the second-half. In the receiving game, Jacobs also added two catches for 13 yards on three targets. With the Packers on bye heading into Week 10, that will give Jacobs this week to get healthy before a divisional slugfest with the Chicago Bears in Week 11. For that contest, Jacobs should be considered a low-end RB1 for fantasy purposes given his huge chunk of the rushing volume for the Packers.

Geno Smith  • QB  •  Seahawks

Geno Smith Tosses Three Interceptions In Week 9

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith struggled once again in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams. Without his top target in DK Metcalf (knee) for a second straight week, Smith threw three interceptions. He did continue his high-end passing yardage output and he threw multiple touchdowns in a game for just the second time this season. Despite the interceptions, Smith likely did not sink your fantasy team in Week 9. Due to a solid rushing baseline, Smith continues to be a useable asset in fantasy. Smith did find his footing towards the end of this game when he was able to find wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a game-tying drive in the fourth quarter. Nobody seems to need Seattle's Week 10 bye more than Smith who clearly needs Metcalf back in the lineup. Hopefully, things will improve for Smith and Seattle's offense come Week 11.

Raheem Mostert  • RB  •  Dolphins

Raheem Mostert Continues Fumble Troubles Despite Solid Numbers In Week 9

Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert rushed the ball 10 times for 56 yards and added two receptions for 32 yards in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He also lost a fumble. While Mostert has been putting up solid rushing stats since his return in Week 5, his fumbling troubles have overshadowed some of the production. Miami is third in fumbles since 2023 (14). He contributed four of them in 2023 and has two more in 2024. Nonetheless, his yards-per-carry output remains solid, and he still received 12 touches. The 2023 rushing touchdown leader went empty on the day, but that won't be a regular occurrence. De'Von Achane was able to get in twice from inside the red zone, obviously hurting Mostert's production. He'll look to bounce back in Week 10 at the Los Angeles Rams.

Kenneth Walker III  • RB  •  Seahawks

Kenneth Walker III Averages 3.3 Yards Per Carry In Week 9

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III finally received high-end rushing volume once again in Week 9 when the Seahawks met the Los Angeles Rams. Unfortunately, he was highly inefficient with his volume. Walker only averaged 3.3 yards per carry on 25 carries. However, he did manage to catch all three of his targets for 24 yards. Walker's receiving numbers in 2024 have given him a great base in fantasy football. After being on fire earlier in the season, Walker has faltered in recent weeks. While he is still delivering useable fantasy numbers, he has been nowhere near producing the top five weeks that he was providing fantasy managers earlier in the season. Some of it is not his fault as the Seahawks' offense has been unable to get out of its own way over the past couple of weeks. Turnovers and mental errors have derailed drives and put the Seahawks in unfortunate circumstances. With their bye ahead of them in Week 10, look for this offense to right the ship moving forward.
