James Conner News

James Conner Gets Seven Touches On Saturday

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner toted the ball six times for 28 yards, while also catching one pass for six yards in Saturday's preseason win over Kansas City. The 24-year-old played the entire first quarter before letting Jaylen Samuels take over. Conner is coming off a breakout season where he took over for Le'Veon Bell. He does carry some injury risk after missing three games in 2018 with an ankle problem, but the coaching staff is trying to get creative to keep the Pitt product fresh. This includes having Samuels on the field at the same time as Conner. He has a high fantasy draft capital with a 1.10 ADP but the potential is there to be a top 5 back in a great offense. If he can stay healthy, the volume will absolutely be plentiful.

James Conner Not Trying To Waste Time

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is heading into his second full season as the team's starting running back and doesn't plan on wasting his chances. In an interview with NFL Network, Conner said "Got to win now. Why wait? Why wait? Whats the point of doing that? Were just wasting time." The team has been working in several two-back sets with Conner and Jaylen Samuels in an effort to maximize their talents, but they also are trying to keep Conner's legs fresh. The Pitt product has jumped into the first round of mock drafts, thanks in part to the uncertain contract status of backs like Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon. If he stays healthy all year, Conner should have no problem finishing as a Top 10 running back in fantasy, with an RB1 ceiling if the team performs on par.

James Conner Confident In Similar Workload

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner rushed for 973 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2018, but a late season ankle injury allowed for the emergence of Jaylen Samuels. The Steelers then drafted Kentucky product Benny Snell in the fourth round, who could also take some carries away from Conner. However, the third-year Pitt product is preparing for a similar workload to the one he had last season. The dual-threat back averaged 16.5 attempts and 4.2 receptions per game last season; although, the ankle injury caused him to miss three games and be limited in the season finale. Despite Samuels and Snell lurking for touches, Conner has proven he can be one of the few three-down backs in the league when he's on the field. If he stays healthy all year, his ADP of 13.8 in PPR formats should provide excellent value.
