Teagan Quitoriano Has Made Full Recovery, Ready For Training Camp
Houston Texans tight end Teagan Quitoriano (groin, oblique) has made a full recovery from his groin and oblique surgeries and is expected to be active for training camp next week, according to a league source. Quitoriano wasn't placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list, so that just confirms it. He could be eased into practices this summer, but barring a setback, he should be ready to go for the start of the 2024 regular season this fall. The 24-year-old was limited to seven games (five starts) in 2023 in his sophomore campaign due to injuries and was held to just two receptions for 33 yards. While he did have flashes in his rookie season, Quitoriano is a blocking-first tight end for the Texans and shouldn't be on the fantasy radar at all going into the 2024 campaign. In 17 career NFL games, he's been targeted just 16 times.
Houston Texans tight end Teagan Quitoriano (quad) was activated from the physically unable to perform list on Saturday. The 23-year-old suffered both a quad and knee injury towards the end of last season. Before that, Quitoriano played in nine games (six starts) with the Texans during his rookie season last year. He was mainly a blocking specialist, but the team believes he can be a valuable piece to their offense. Last season, Quitoriano finished with seven receptions for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Quitoriano is currently listed as the No. 2 tight end on the roster behind Dalton Schultz. It's worth noting that the Texans also added Nick Vannett and Eric Tomlinson along with Schultz this offseason. This situation could get messy, so any tight end outside of Schultz is hard to trust in Houston right now.
Houston Texans rookie tight end Teagan Quitoriano (knee, quadriceps) isn't taking part in Thursday's practice after suffering a hyperextended right knee in the Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans. He's also dealing with a bruised quadriceps, but no structural damage was found in his knee after undergoing tests earlier this week. The 22-year-old has been one of the bright spots for the Texans in 2022, but he remains a blocking specialist in Houston's offense and shouldn't be considered a fantasy option heading into next season. He's unlikely to play in Week 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and might have played the final game of his rookie season with just two games remaining in 2022.
Houston Texans rookie tight end Teagan Quitoriano (knee) avoided structural damage to his knee when he was injured in the Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans. He's dealing with a hyperextended knee and a bruised quadriceps after undergoing an MRI exam, according to league sources. Quitoriano is considered day-to-day heading into Week 17 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but with only two games remaining, the team could consider placing him on Injured Reserve for the second time this year. The fifth-rounder has proved to be a powerful blocker in his first NFL season, but he's also emerging as a complete tight end who is capable of contributing in the passing game. Quitoriano has four catches for 30 yards and two touchdowns on 10 targets in eight games in 2022.
Houston Texans rookie tight end Teagan Quitoriano could have a bigger role moving forward after making his NFL debut in the Week 9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, when he caught his only target for a two-yard touchdown on 30 percent of the offensive snaps. However, the 22-year-old fifth-round pick will most likely serve more in a blocking than pass-catching role, so fantasy managers should hold off on running to the waiver wire and picking him up, even in deep leagues. The Texans have a logjam at the position with Brevin Jordan, O.J. Howard and Jordan Akins, who are all better pass-catching options than Quitoriano.
Houston Texans tight end Teagan Quitoriano caught his first NFL touchdown on Thursday, bringing in a two-yard pass from quarterback Davis Mills in the first quarter of the 29-17 loss to the Eagles. It was the first catch of his NFL career. But if anyone thought that early touchdown would be the beginning of something, it wasn't, as that was Quitoriano's only target. There's no need to add Quitoriano off the waiver wire at this point, except in the deepest dynasty leagues.
