Sean Clifford Fantasy

Green Bay Packers rookie fifth-round quarterback Sean Clifford was named the backup QB by head coach Matt LaFleur on Thursday. Clifford led the league in passing yards per game and ranked third in completion percentage through two preseason games. By the first week of training camp, he had passed Danny Etling, who spent all of last season on the practice squad, on the QB depth chart. Clifford said he didn't really start to feel comfortable until midway through the offseason program. The 25-year-old's improvisational skills on the field have been impressive and he has regularly made one of the hardest drills for a QB look routine. Clifford played five seasons at Penn State and started 46 games, so he has plenty of game experience.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Sean Clifford will have a chance to earn the No. 2 job behind Jordan Love to begin the season. Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said Danny Etling and Clifford will both get a chance to earn the spot in camp. The organization wants to see what they have in these young players before they consider bringing in a veteran quarterback. Etling is a former Patriots wide receiver, while Clifford was drafted in the fifth-round out of Penn State during this year's draft. These two players could be the fall back plans if Love doesn't pan out this upcoming season. On paper, neither player offers much upside, so fantasy managers probably shouldn't bother trying to slash Etling or Clifford.
