Does Zachariah Branch Have a Path to Immediate Production?

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Zachariah Branch could contribute right away, giving him value in both redraft and dynasty leagues. Branch, a University of Georgia product, was selected with the 79th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Behind Drake London, the Falcons' next-best receivers are Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus. Neither of those names is particularly appealing, so we could see Branch quickly step into the No. 2 receiver role ahead of Dotson and Zaccheaus. That fits his skill set, too, as Branch is an athletic and quick player who gets separation and could be a key weapon for Michael Penix Jr. (knee) or Tua Tagovailoa downfield. As it currently stands, Branch ranks as the WR63 in RotoBaller's latest dynasty fantasy football rankings. He projects as a mid-second-round pick in most 2026 rookie drafts.

Falcons Select Speedy Receiver Zachariah Branch At 79 Overall

The Atlanta Falcons selected University of Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch with the 79th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft on Friday night. Branch can fly, has plenty of after-the-catch ability and explosiveness, and he should also factor in on special teams as a punt/kick returner. Branch spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at USC before playing for Georgia in 2025, where he caught an SEC-high 81 passes for 811 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games played. The 5-foot-9, 177-pounder is an absolute burner with elite speed and acceleration. He clocked a 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine in February. His game-changing speed will give him plenty of upside in dynasty fantasy leagues, and he could have a pretty big role in his first year in the NFL in Atlanta behind Drake London. The biggest concerns about Branch at the next level are his lack of size and his limited route tree.

Zachariah Branch Arrested for Misdemeanor Obstruction

Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch was arrested on Sunday on two misdemeanor obstruction charges, according to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald. Branch was charged with obstructing public sidewalks/streets-prowling and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. It's unclear if it will affect his stock as a potential Day 2 draft pick in this year's 2026 NFL draft, which kicks off on Thursday night. Branch began his collegiate career with two seasons at USC before playing with the Bulldogs in his final collegiate season in 2025. He had his best season last year, catching an SEC-high 81 passes for 811 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games played at Georgia. Branch ran an impressive 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine in February, but his recent off-the-field issue could cause NFL teams to sour on him ahead of next week's draft.

Zachariah Branch a Day 2 Receiver With Game-Changing Speed

Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch, who projects to be a Day 2 pick in this year's NFL draft, could be a rookie to target in dynasty-league drafts, depending on his landing spot. Branch caught an SEC-high 81 passes for a career-high 811 receiving yards and a career-high six touchdown catches in 14 games with the Bulldogs in 2025 in his junior season. He combined for 78 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns in 23 games in his first two collegiate seasons at USC. The 5-foot-9, 177-pounder is a burner with a 4.35-second 40-yard dash, but he also features excellent yards-after-the-catch ability and a phenomenal work ethic. Durability could be an issue at the next level, though, due to his lack of size and length. He's also considered more of a project in terms of his route tree, which is why Branch is projected to be more of a late second-round pick next month. Branch projects to be a special-teams return man in the NFL and also a slot receiver with plenty of big-play ability.

Could Zachariah Branch Have Limited Role Early in NFL Career?

Undersized Georgia wide receiver Zachariah Branch tested extremely well at the NFL Combine, running a 4.35 40-yard dash while his vertical and broad jumps reinforced the explosiveness shown on film. Working primarily out of the slot, his short arms and imprecise route-running led to a handful of off-the-mark targets in college, but he showed rare explosiveness with the ball in his hands. Given his profile, he may find himself as more of a gadget player than an every-down receiver early in his career, contributing more as an NFL player than a fantasy asset. Branch is currently clustered with a large group of receivers in the second or third tier of this rookie class, and NFL draft capital should help to further clarify rookie draft rankings.
