Khalil Herbert News
Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert carried the ball 10 times for 50 yards and lost one yard on his lone reception in a 29-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18. Herbert got the first carry of the game over David Montgomery and wound up out-producing the latter, who gained just 21 yards on seven carries in the loss. Herbert wraps up his second NFL season with 731 yards and four touchdowns on 129 carries while adding nine catches for 57 yards and another score through the air. Montgomery will be an unrestricted free-agent this offseason, paving the way for Herbert to become Chicago's lead back in 2023 provided the team doesn't bring in competition.
Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert will go up against a Vikings defense that has allowed the 10th most fantasy points to opposing running backs heading into the final game of the season. Herbert has been ineffective since returning from the injured list with a hip injury. The Bears will certainly lean on the running game with backup quarterback Nathan Peterman taking snaps under center for the team's season finale. The Vikings have allowed 10-plus fantasy points to nine different backs since Week 10 so Herbert should see close to double-digit carries. But he will be a very risky fantasy proposition to close out the regular season.
Chicago Bears running back Khalil Herbert finished with five carries for 31 yards in Sunday's loss to the Lions. Herbert amassed an average of 6.2 yards per carry and was more productive than David Montgomery, who finished with 24 yards off six attempts. However, Justin Fields overshadowed both players, with the signal-caller going for 132 yards off 10 touches. Herbert can be a top-tier fantasy rusher when given a chance. But as long as Montgomery and Fields are in the picture, he won't be a reliable fantasy option for managers in Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings.
