Olamide Zaccheaus A Lock To Make Commanders Roster?
Washington Commanders wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus signed with the organization this offseason on a one-year, $1.28 million contract. His salary would suggest he's not guaranteed to make the roster, but Ben Standig of the Athletic believes he is close to being a lock. "The first three (wide receivers) are locks, and Zaccheaus probably adds that distinction over time," Standig wrote. Zaccheaus has collected 104 of his 171 targets for 1,492 yards and 10 touchdowns through his first 72 career games with the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. It'd be a surprise if he's a fantasy football contributor in 2024, but it sounds like he could occupy the WR4 role behind Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Luke McCaffrey under new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.
Free-agent wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus has agreed to terms to sign with the Washington Commanders, according to John Keim of ESPN. Zaccheaus was originally undrafted out of Virginia in the 2019 class, and he spent four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before one year with the Philadelphia Eagles last season. Overall, the 26-year-old has hauled in 104 passes for 1,492 yards and 10 touchdowns through his first 72 NFL games. With Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson on the roster and Washington likely to take shots on wide receivers in next month's draft, Zaccheaus is unlikely to have a path toward fantasy success in 2024, barring injury. He's likely just a depth piece for a franchise looking to rebuild on the fly.
Olamide Zaccheaus Comes Down With Clutch Touchdown In Week 12
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus caught his lone target for a 29-yard touchdown during the team's 37-34 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills. The 26-year-old wide receiver has not been heavily involved, even when Quez Watkins was on Injured Reserve, but he came down with a clutch touchdown catch on an extended play in tight coverage to put the Eagles ahead for the first time in the second half. While the story is great, Julio Jones saw more targets than Zaccheaus this week, and he remains nothing more than a bench stash in dynasty leagues. The former Atlanta Falcon will not be a recommended fantasy option against the San Francisco 49ers next week.
Olamide Zaccheaus Catches First Touchdown As An Eagle Monday Night
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus caught two of three targets for 58 yards and a touchdown during the team's 25-11 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Filling in for Quez Watkins (hamstring), the former Atlanta Falcon posted his first touchdown as a member of the Eagles on a beautiful 34-yard pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts with only minutes left to go in the second quarter. While it is a nice story, Zaccheaus carries little fantasy value moving forward. Netting just three targets as the clear fourth option, Philadelphia does not typically throw enough to keep four pass catchers fantasy relevant. The 26-year-old can be safely left on the waiver wire during the team's Week 4 matchup against the Washington Commanders.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus (shoulder), who had to leave Thursday's preseason game against the Cleveland Browns early with a shoulder injury, is present at Saturday's training camp practice and is in uniform. Before getting injured Thursday night, Zaccheaus caught one of his three targets for a 17-yard gain. The fact that the 26-year-old is at practice just two days after his injury is a good sign that it's not a long-term concerns, so he should be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season. Zaccheaus had his best season in 2022 with the Atlanta Falcons, but he's probably going to need an injury to Quez Watkins in order to see meaningful snaps in the slot in his first year in Philly behind starters A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus (shoulder) was injured in Thursday's preseason contest against the Cleveland Browns and was listed as questionable to return. Before leaving, Zaccheaus caught one of his three targets for a 17-yard gain. It doesn't sound like a serious injury for the 26-year-old, but he could miss some upcoming training camp practices. Quez Watkins is expected to be Philly's No. 3 receiver to open the 2023 season behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, so Zaccheaus won't have much fantasy appeal, even in deeper leagues. Zaccheaus had career-highs in receptions (40), targets (61) and receiving yards (533) in 17 games (13 starts) for the Atlanta Falcons last year and also tied his career-high with three touchdowns.
Former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus signed an undisclosed deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday. Zaccheaus totaled 94 receptions on 151 targets for 1,328 yards and eight touchdowns in his four seasons with the Falcons. He had career-highs in catches (40), targets (61) and receiving yards (533) in 17 games (13 starts) for Atlanta last year and tied his career-high with three touchdown receptions. The 25-year-old is unlikely to draw much fantasy attention in 2023, but he will be joining one of the most potent offenses in football, so his ceiling will be a bit higher. Expect Zaccheaus to compete for snaps out of the slot with Quez Watkins and Greg Ward in his new home.
Falcons Expected To Re-Sign Olamide Zaccheaus, KhaDarel Hodge
The Atlanta Falcons are expected to re-sign impending unrestricted free-agent wide receivers Olamide Zaccheaus and KhaDarel Hodge this offseason. Zaccheaus was second on the team with 40 catches for 533 yards in 2022. "Just an extremely unselfish guy and the kind of guy you want in your program," wide receivers coach T.J. Yates said. Hodge had just 13 receptions for 202 yards but led the team with nine special teams tackles. Both wideouts entered the league as undrafted free agents and can probably be brought back on affordable deals. Zaccheaus struggled with rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder under center over the final four games, catching just eight passes on 17 targets for 55 yards. Neither Zaccheaus nor Hodge will open the 2023 season on the fantasy radar.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus scored a three-yard touchdown in the team's 30-17 Week 18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The veteran receiver caught four of his seven targets for 37 yards against the NFC South champions. He ended the game with 11.7 half-point PPR fantasy points, his best performance of the year. Furthermore, Zaccheaus ends the 2022 season second on the team with 40 receptions, a career-high. The veteran is a free agent this offseason. Atlanta might look to upgrade and give Desmond Ridder a more consistent No. 2 wide receiver opposite of Drake London. Regardless of where he plays next season, Zaccheaus has limited fantasy upside.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus has been irrelevant for fantasy players this season. The veteran receiver is the WR75 for the year, averaging 4.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he has scored fewer than six fantasy points in 68.8% of the games this season, including nine of the past 10 contests. Moreover, Zaccheaus has scored zero fantasy points in two of the three games Desmond Ridder has started this year. This week, he faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They have held the veteran receiver to only two receptions for 39 receiving yards in the Week 5 matchup between these two teams earlier this season. Zaccheaus belongs on the waiver wire.
