Chris Blair Leads Falcons In Receiving On Saturday
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Chris Blair finished with 91 receiving yards and four catches on five targets in a 13-12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday. The former XFL star stepped things up in preseason Week 2, doubling his yards and targets from preseason Week 1. He remains low on the totem pole with the depth the Falcons currently have at wideout. Still, in the two games he's played this preseason, he's been impressive with six catches and 136 receiving yards on eight targets while averaging about 22 yards per reception. Look for Blair to keep trying to climb the depth chart next week when the Falcons take on the Jaguars on Friday.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Chris Blair caught two passes for 45 receiving yards in Friday's 20-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The 26-year-old did lead the team in receiving on only three targets. He reeled in a gorgeous 41-yard long ball from Michael Penix Jr., the first-round draft pick for the Atlanta Falcons. The 26-year-old former XFL player looks to be nothing more than a depth piece for this season, but it was a great showing from him nonetheless on Friday.
The Atlanta Falcons signed wide receiver Chris Blair and defensive lineman Albert Huggins to undisclosed deals on Friday. In a corresponding move, the Falcons put running back Avery Williams (knee) on season-ending Injured Reserve after he torn his ACL during offseason workouts. Blair was originally signed by the Green Bay Packers in 2021 as an undrafted free agent. He spent some time on the team's practice squad and signed a Reserve/Futures deal with Green Bay last year. Blair then played in the XFL this year and caught 26 passes for 594 yards and three touchdowns for the D.C. Defenders. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
