Cam Talbot Set To Return On Thursday
Detroit Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot (lower body) will likely return to the crease on Thursday against Philadelphia. The veteran was initially expected to be out until the weekend. But Talbot looks ready to rejoin the action on Thursday after the team assigned Sebastian Cossa to the AHL. Talbot, who's been unavailable for three games, has gone 6-5-2 this season with the Red Wings, allowing 2.73 goals with a .915 save percentage and one shutout. He's been in decent form throughout the campaign, but due to Detroit's offensive woes, Talbot hasn't ended up in the win column too often. Only five teams are averaging fewer goals this season.

Yanni Gourde Misses Wednesday's Practice
Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (lower body) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice. He skipped the session after suffering a lower-body injury in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to Florida. Gourde collected his 14th point of the campaign via an assist in the contest. 10 of his points have come in Gourde's last 12 outings. Brandon Tanev will be in line to get extra work if Gourde isn't ready to play on Thursday versus Boston. Winnipeg Jets center David Gustafsson is in concussion protocol. The 24-year-old had his first career fight against Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic in Tuesday's 8-1 win and wasn't able to finish the contest. Gustafsson was in the lineup for only the third time this season. He hasn't scored any points with four shots on goal. Rasmus Kupari will likely replace Gustafsson on the fourth line in Thursday's matchup against Vegas. Kupari's work includes three points (two goals, one assist) in 28 appearances this season.

Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark will get the nod for Wednesday's matchup against Anaheim. He will face the Ducks for the second time this month. On Dec. 1, Anaheim beat Ullmark and the Senators 4-3 in a shootout on home ice. However, this marks Ullmark's lone loss in his last four starts. Ottawa's No. 1 had a tough time against the Ducks in the first meeting of the season, but Anaheim averages the third-fewest goals in the league (2.42), making this a good matchup for Ullmark.
