Fantasy Baseball Trade Targets
Fantasy Baseball Trade Targets For Week 2
The season is finally underway, and it certainly seems like a lot has changed since just a week and a half ago. Players are already dropping like flies due to injuries, some stars are struggling mightily, and a low-owned guy on fantasy waiver wires even threw a no-hitter in his first start of the season. Despite all this new information to take in, it’s important to not overreact to such a small sample of games. Players will have hot and cold stretches throughout the year that are the same length as the season currently is, so don’t give up on your stars too soon. Now could be the perfect time to start sending out trade offers, taking advantage of the warped perception your league-mates could have after the first full week of games. In this article, I’ll break down some players who represent excellent buy-low or sell-high opportunities.
Buy-Low Candidates 💵
Francisco Lindor, SS, Mets
Francisco Lindor has been one of the biggest disappointments thus far of any hitter drafted in the first three rounds. He has only three hits in his first forty-three at-bats, one being a home run that he hit on Sunday. Going into Sunday, he was the third-largest underachiever according to his expected stats, with an xBA of .207, xSLG of .309, and xwOBA of .296. While those numbers still aren’t good by any means, they are a whole lot better than his actual batting average of .032, SLG of .032, and wOBA of .137. His home run on Sunday boosted his slugging percentage from .032 to .194, so it’s easy to see how just a few good games could completely shift his season statistics. The 30-year-old is coming off of a 2023 season where he slashed .254/.336/.470 with 31 home runs and 31 stolen bases. There’s no reason to think he has just completely lost all of his skills, so it’s best to get your trade offers in quickly before his stats don’t look so bad anymore.
