Bills
The Buffalo Bills elevated rookie running back Frank Gore Jr. from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster for Monday night's divisional showdown against the New York Jets. This could be a sign that James Cook (toe), who was listed as questionable to play in Week 6, may not be available to play on Monday night. But the Bills could also be electing for extra backfield depth behind Cook, Ty Johnson and rookie Ray Davis. Fantasy managers should know Cook's official status for Monday's primetime contest in another hour. The 22-year-old Gore hasn't played at all through the first five weeks of his rookie season in the NFL after going undrafted out of Southern Miss. At best, Gore could see some short-yardage work for Buffalo whenever he makes his NFL debut, but he can be ignored in all single-year fantasy formats for the time being.

Bills Letting Go Of Frank Gore Jr.
The Buffalo Bills are waiving running back Frank Gore Jr. (knee) on Tuesday. Gore's 101-yard performance before he went down with a knee injury in Saturday's preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers was not enough to keep him on Buffalo's final 53-man roster. The undrafted rookie will hit waivers and search for a new home as backfield depth, and perhaps other teams saw enough out of his final exhibition showing to give Gore a chance. As for the Bills, it's all set to be rookie fourth-rounder Ray Davis as lead back James Cook's primary change-of-pace back this fall, with veterans Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans providing insulation for the team.

Frank Gore Jr. Scores, Rumbles For 101 Yards Saturday
Buffalo Bills running back Frank Gore Jr. (knee) made a statement in Saturday afternoon's preseason loss to the visiting Carolina Panthers at Highmark Stadium, rumbling for 101 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. He caught one of his two targets for no gain. It was one chunk pickup after another on Saturday against Carolina for Gore, who plowed his way into the end zone for a Bills score in the third quarter before leaving with a knee injury. None of James Cook, Ray Davis, or Ty Johnson made an appearance in the preseason finale, so it was left to Gore and Darrynton Evans to compete for a spot on Buffalo's roster, with the former passing his final test with flying colors. While Evans hit paydirt through the air, Gore outproduced him in the yardage department in a big way, likely giving the 2024 undrafted rookie a leg up in the competition over the incumbent veteran.

Frank Gore Jr. Getting X-Rays
Buffalo Bills running back Frank Gore Jr. (knee) is scheduled to undergo X-rays after suffering an injury during Saturday's preseason finale. This is a shame considering how well Gore has been playing in the preseason. He rushed for 101 yards on 18 carries with one touchdown before exiting on Saturday. He's competing with Ray Davis and Ty Johnson for the backup role behind James Cook. Gore doesn't have a great fantasy outlook right away with Cook being the workhorse back in Buffalo. However, he has decent potential and is a solid hold in deep or dynasty formats, assuming the results from his testing come back negative for any significant damage.

Frank Gore Jr. Competing For Roster Spot
Buffalo Bills running back Frank Gore Jr. offered solid returns in Saturday night's preseason win over the hosting Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium, rushing eight times for 41 yards in the victory. Gore consistently found room to run on Saturday against the Steelers, with his longest play going for nine yards. Although fourth-round rookie Ray Davis looks fairly locked into Buffalo's No. 2 role in the backfield, there remains an open competition to maintain a roster spot amongst Gore as well as veterans Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans. Johnson is the most likely of the three backs to make the Bills' roster this fall, and Evans also impressed with 37 yards on seven carries in this one. The undrafted Gore aims to leave a final impression on the coaching staff in next Saturday's preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers.

Frank Gore Jr. Takes A Team-High Seven Carries
Buffalo Bills running back Frank Gore Jr. showed some juice in Saturday afternoon's preseason loss to the visiting Chicago Bears in Orchard Park, carrying the ball a team-high seven times for 21 yards and catching three of his four targets for 16 yards in the defeat. Gore posted a long run of 12 yards on the day. The 22-year-old Southern Mississippi standout went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft with uninspiring workout metrics, and like his father before him, Gore will likely need to overcome a lack of explosiveness to make an impact at the next level. He's currently the No. 5 back on Buffalo's RB depth chart, but Saturday's performance against the Bears at least prevented Gore's stock from dropping even further. If he has any chance of making the Bills' roster over journeyman Darrynton Evans and veteran Ty Johnson, he'll need to stand out more in next Saturday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Frank Gore Jr. Lands In Buffalo
The Buffalo Bills signed undrafted free-agent running back Frank Gore Jr., according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network. The son of a five-time Pro Bowler and potential Hall of Famer, Gore Jr. spent four seasons at Southern Miss and compiled 4,022 rushing yards, 26 rushing touchdowns, 692 receiving yards, and four receiving scores in 47 career games. He was projected to be a late-round pick by many analysts, but he was not one of the 15 ball carriers selected on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. With James Cook and fourth-round rookie Ray Davis all but guaranteed roster spots, Gore Jr. will likely need to beat out Ty Johnson and Darrynton Evans to have a chance at making the 53-man roster.
